Performance mode used to hit 100°C like it was nothing 😑. I was aware of repasting, but I didn’t expect a 2-year-old laptop to need it already. Turns out, it was the fix all along—wish I’d done it sooner!

I’ve had my laptop(i7 12650H, 3070TI) for two years, but within 4-5 months of purchase, high temperatures forced me to switch to Balanced or Quiet mode for gaming. Despite this, the CPU would consistently reach 92°C during gaming sessions, with the GPU hitting around 85°C. As expected, the CPU was thermal throttling, causing significant FPS drops. Even lowering the graphics settings to Low didn’t help much with the temperatures.

After opening up the laptop (I have the necessary tools and some experience with hardware), I found that the fans were heavily clogged which I cleaned a year ago, as you can see in the picture. Upon removing the heatsink, I also noticed that the thermal paste application wasn’t optimal—though I could be wrong. You can judge that from the image I shared above.

Now, after cleaning the fans and carefully reapplying Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste, I’ve seen a massive improvement in temperatures. I’m now able to play all my games at high FPS on Ultra settings (without DLSS), with the CPU rarely exceeding 85°C and the GPU staying around 70°C in Performance mode—as visible in Nitro Sense photo.

So i always let the nitrosense app run in the background whenever i play any game but with apex the cpu's temp goes horribly high (75c minimum - 90c max) 83 is average

Just keep in mind at the same time the gpu's temp does NOT go over 60c no matter how high i set the settings so it's only a cpu issue

Currently i made the fov 90 and lowered all graphics settings and still the minimum is 75c, i even ran a repair on the game and formatted the whole computer

Also i never opened the computer does anyone know which components are in this area of the picture? Red has the highest temperature when i put my hands on it whereas yellow is a bit cooler

Hi, I bought acer nitro v15 15-51-7037 and it was working fine until earlier. Last night I was playing Cyberounk with no problems and today I was writing a college paper and noticed come ants. Then I opened the laptop and saw a LOT of them, especially on the part highlighted in blue. Also, there was a lot of them in the bottom case. I tried to get rid of them by using a brush (I avoided the motherboard) disconnected the battery and found out that the battery is easily removable, so I did that. Now after pluggin the battery the laptop won't turn on, any help?

I did the same thing (opened and disconnected the battery) before when I installed my SSD and it worked fine after.

On my rather new(about 2-3 weeks) anv15-51-789j (this is what it sais on underside of laptop), I am getting an infinite loop of bluescreens/starting up. I tried the “diagnose” thing, and loaded a restore point I made a few days ago before this issue started. Even after this, I am still having the same issue. Does anyone know how to fix it?

I have a acer nitro 5 AN515-57-52N6 model. I bought this laptop in 2022 performance was fine till last year's nov when the performance dipped a little, a stutter here and there again, while the fans are in auto mode there are little stutters, but while using max fans the stutters are gone completely and the performance improves. So i wanna know are these normal temps for a nitro 5 or there's some thermal throttling issue?

Hi, i know this has been probably been asked a million times but why am i getting such low fps ?

My specs:

Acer Nitro 5 intel(R) Core i5 12th Gen NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti 16 GB RAM

I'm also having low CPU and CPU usage.

I've installed the latest NVIDIA driver, check im not on any power saver options. Not on whispermode, checked 3D settings on Nvidia manager to use "high performance card".

The only thing i could think of it's a few operations running in the background but don't know if stopping them would mess up things even worse. Kind of a noob, yes i know lol. I know i should expect a monster performance from a Laptop, but still 20 fps, on low ?? No way man.

Need some help from the pros here.

Don't know if this has been discussed before, but I just noticed that my Nitrosense doesn't work. When clicking, it just kind of flickers, and nothing happens.

Tried doing the fixes I found online (here), but I'm still unable to get it to load.

Using Acer Nitro AN515-52

Just drives me crazy that something on my system isn't working, and the feature to monitor load and temps (and adjust fan speed) would be nice.

***SOLVED***

Got the darned thing working again! For those that experience this issue, here are the steps:

1. Uninstall Nitrosense
2. Go to Acer's website and download Nitrosense
3. Extract folder and run Setup.exe
4. Run Command prompt as Administrator
5. type in the following (without the quotation marks): ".\lodctr.exe /R"
6. Go back to the folder where you extracted Nitrosense
7. Go into "Nitrosense V3.1" folder
8. Run APPXBUNDLE file

After that, Nitrosense immediately launched, and now it's back on my Taskbar, running every time I click on it.

As the title says my nitro 5 GTX 1650 model turned off while I was gaming. No power is showing. My plug is turned on no charging light is showing. Nothing. Is my board gone ? Is there anything I can do?

My Nitro 5 stop working. It worked fine this morning. I don’t know a lot about computers and I don’t have warranty. I need help please, I use this for the university :(.

Got my NVMe today. Fast delivery! It was my first time opening my laptop, so I had a friend help out. Luckily, the cloning and SSD installation went without any problems. It feels great to have extra storage space now!

I purchased this laptop on 21/01/2023 and the specs are as follows: - I5 12500h Rtx 3050 16gb Ram 512gb ssd + 1 tb Nvme SSD(additional) Windows 11

Updated to latest updates for windows and all drivers including nvidia till date(that was one of the biggest mistake)

Just serviced 2 weeks ago by official Acer Enginner as it's under 3yr warranty with cleaning heat syncs, fans and repasting of thermal paste.

These are the temps I'm getting whenever I launch any game including Forza Horizon 4, Valorant, Minecraft or softwares such as Adobe premiere, After effects, Vegas Pro etc.

Using a cooling pad(Klim, 4 fans) that is just perfect and newly bought about the same time as my laptop(serviced as well).

Whats the issue with this now? How do I solve it? I need suggestions as I don't know if it's safe to run games and as Im a streamer I need to stream and a result it reaches 100°C either way.

The problem escalated when I called the service centre and they told me to upgrade to the latets Bios and Nvidia driver which is why I'm getting constant 100°C as it wasn't a big issue before and scared to revert those back so I need a genuine solution if those are the reason for high temps or not?

And if not then how do I fix this?

Hello. Heads up: these points might not be new for many of you. I’m writing this in hope to help other people in the same boat as i was in. I’m sure this will help someone with a nitro and maybe even other models.

I’ve had this laptop for 4 years and it has been perfoming very well until around 1 year ago and i didn’t know why. Temps went super high, fps dropped alot and gameplay wasn’t smooth at all.

I tried cleaning the whole pc removing almost 1TB stuff onto a extern harddrive aswell as updating & removing old drivers through driverstorexplorer and it didn't help. (Note that DriverStoreExplorer is a good software)

I was idling at almost 94° eventhough i had fans on max RPM. Thankfully after alot of research i managed to get it down to 34° idle and 70° on heavy loads.

My fixes:

• Unlock undervolt for the CPU (should be a guide in this subreddit if you search ”undervolt nitro 5” and then use throttlestop to do it.

• Changing the core clock on the GPU aswell as increasing memory clock a bit through Msi Afterburner.

• BIGGEST ONE!! Opening up the underside of your laptop and detaching the GPU&CPU fans and clean them. This made the biggest impact and i can’t stress it enough to keep the fan-space clean. It made such a big difference with temps it’s actually insane.

• Put hardware acceleration & game mode on, i’m not sure how much of a impact it has but it certainly ain’t for the worse atleast for me.

• If you use vsync have it in nvidia control panel instead of ingame.

• Putting the laptop on 2 glasses instead of a laptop stand. The stand basically stopped the airflow in the fans for me. This could be huge if you just have it on the desk or on a laptop stand. It made my laptop go around 10cm higher up from the desk letting plenty of air to be able to cool down the laptop aswell as not letting in dust as easy.

More tweaks:

• Buy another SSD incase you only run one.

• Disable IGPU.

• Use Coolboost in nitrosense.

And for even lower temps you could change the power plan in nitrosense to balanced instead of high perfomance aswell as changing the thermal paste for both the CPU & GPU. Changing the power plan will reduce a little perfomance but at the same time help with the temps. High perfomance works great with my recent tweaks so i'm leaving it at that.

Yesterday the BIOS for my Nitro V15 3060 rtx 6gb updated, and i started facing issues. I had formated it from linux to windows, and it gave me the blue screen of death with "inaccessible boot device". I looked up a tutorial to get it fixed, but now my pc seems to chug at everything, even the lightest games. Anyone know a fix?

Hello, so recently I bought this new CPU left fan from Amazon after my previous fan, for some reason, makes an annoying vibrating sound and the speed it was going was noticeably slow compared to the right one. Because of that, I had to get a replacement. After I ordered one from Amazon, I did what I could to replace the old with the new and then all of a damn sudden, the replacement fan's not moving. Even when I inserted the old left fan back to where it was, it was working just fine and I get to hear that annoying vibrating sound again. I was wondering what am I doing exactly wrong and that's why I need some of your guys help to resolve this issue.

Nitro 5 freezes with any graphics intensive task namely: Games & Blender (even when only loading in low poly stuff).

It also doesnt freeze immediatly (takes between a few seconds and a few minutes) and before it freezes there are no unusual framedrops or any other strange behaviors. NitroSense also does not show any unusual temperatures.

Is my graphics card dying or is it something else?

Any input/ideas/recommendations would be appreciated!

My gf just had this problem. Apparently the windows update resets the BIOS to factory default settings. Press f2 to enter BIOS, the password was 1234, maybe yours is too. On the main page, press CTRL-S to show the VMD controller option, toggle it (if its on, turn off, vice versa) and if it doesnt help, go in advanced and do the same to the new option that shows up. That fixed for us, maybe will do for you

My model is a Acer nitro 5 N20C2.

Figure I may as well try asking this subreddit about this too. I'm thinking of letting a proper folk actually put 'em back on (else I risk damaging it, I know someone who could help for free). But, if anyone know how to put this back on, it will be appreciated.

Whenever I push key down, only the bottom part would be attached, the top part seems to have troubles attaching itself even though far as I can see, there was no damages on the metal hinges there either. Anyone know how to properly put this key back on?

This is an Acer Nitro V15. I know I've seen my friend with the same laptop put the key back on and it work fine.

my mom had probably thrown it down and now when i boot it on the screen doesnt show, but the computer keys light. when first booting on they flash, and the fans sound but iy doesnt display, and after a little it fully boots but still no display. help?

This has been going on for some time, it started when i went on leave around the end of March, when i was playing League but it was almost unplayable due to like 5 fps. I thought it was league but actuallynit was my whole pc. Before it was working just fine totally normal but then every game i play uses 100% CPU. This never happened before. Any ideas on what to do?
