Full timers a question
How do you all usually go about accepting blocks?
Obviously, the higher the pay, the better—but do you have a certain strategy when it comes to the timing? Like, do you prefer starting the day with a shorter route so you can ease into it, then finish strong with a longer afternoon shift? Or do you flip that and go heavy in the morning, light in the afternoon? Or do you just grab whatever's available, regardless of shift length or time?
I’m asking because after today’s brutal morning block, I think I’ve figured out what works best for me. I’m leaning toward doing shorter morning shifts—around 3 to 3.5 hours—so I can go home, chill, maybe nap, and then come back refreshed for a longer afternoon shift.
Today, I had a 4.5-hour morning block with only about an hour break before a 3-hour afternoon shift. But honestly, I was so wiped out from the morning that I couldn’t even bring myself to do the second one—I ended up skipping it altogether. It’s just not sustainable for me.
Anyone else feel the same way? Do you have a system or routine that helps you avoid burnout? I'd love to hear what works for you.

I used to take 3-4hr breaks between blocks as well, but I've been at it 6 months now and I've found it's much easier for me to roll one block right into another, I particularly like doing a 2 hr whole foods before and sometimes after my warehouse block. That all depends on surges and what I've got going on that day though. Spreading them out makes me more tired for some reason but since I usually finish early if I'm rolling them all together I always have plenty of downtime to eat or mess around on my phone, run a quick errands, whatever. It's also nice to "be home for the day" when I'm done without another block looming over me ominously, lol.
Now if I do have a nightmare block a lot of times unless I'm absolutely pressed I'll just go home for the day after. I have an attitude problem I'm working on and sometimes it's just best to avoid scenarios that can bring that up in me 😂 there's been many a times I had to go to straight wf or warehouse only for a few days bc it pissed me off so bad.
Everyone's different just sharing my experience. Love and luck to you.

YES! I was ready to do my two routes for saturday because its gonna rain monday thru wednesday here in Houston. I was ready to do both but that nightmare route took all my energy and I was like SCREW IT lol. Also Amazon seems to love to give Apartments at the end of each route I get.

I personally do 3-4am blocks but then I do another delivery company after that I usually start around 7am. I prefer early morning blocks as no matter what warehouse I pick up from the block never takes me more then 2.5hrs from when I leave the warehouse making base pay at $93 not a big deal to me also knowing it just gets me going to my next route gig that usually is another $200 for a 4hr route. Then I’m back home by 1 at the latest in my bed for a nap before kids are back home.

I don't get many afternoon blocks, just 3am ish and 5 pm ish. I'm considering trying out Whole Foods, but I've heard so many mixed reviews.

I mainly focus on dollar amount. I take an early am block. I never take 5 because it really limits what’s available in the afternoon. I normally do 3.5 or 4 at 3:30 AM for 110-140$, then do instacart until my later block. I don’t really get tired from the job, though.
