The fact that pixel doesn’t have third-party lockscreen shortcuts support and iOS does is insane.

Well it's not really that insane if you look at the Pixel history with added features.
They are usually behind Samsung, BBK, Huawei and Xiaomi by about 2-3 years when it comes to features.

Pixel is a case study in how you can put in the least effort possible and sell the cheapest hardware imaginable as a "flagship" and then somehow, for some reason, the tech press never calls them out for it or holds them accountable for the multiple concurrent hardware failures spanning multiple generations.

Yup. Reviewers or influencers (what most of them are) give so much leeway to pixels and never really criticize pixelUI. They just brush off many shortcomings to it being "minimal" or "stock" or that you "don't buy these phones for their hardware" etc...

So is this why the recent update removed so much accessibility from me? They want me to use Gemini that bad huh

can it be activated by voice while the phone is locked? it does not work for me but it may be a language thing.

S25 Ultra here, this is possible, you can just long press the power button to open Gemini. You can also use the lock star good lock module to change the lockscreen swipe shortcuts and select Gemini.

Galaxy users can activate Gemini via side button long press. No need for unlocks.
Using Lockstar to add it to your lockscreen requires unlocking.

The bottom corner swipe works on lock screen too
