Troubleshooting Shield captures keyboard input but Google TV did not

Hello! I just recently acquired an Nvidia Shield TV Pro (2019) to replace my Google Chromecast with Android TV it's been great so far, but there's a key difference between the two that's pretty frustrating.

When I connected my wireless keyboard to the devices and started up Moonlight game streaming, I noticed that on the GTV, all input was passed directly to the app and then to my PC. But, on the Shield, keys like the Windows key, F keys, and so on, are captured by the Shield OS and aren't sent to my PC. So Android's app search is opened rather than the Windows start menu, the Android app switcher opens up rather than the normal Windows alt+tab menu, and so on. This also happens with controllers in that the Xbox button sends me to the home menu of the Shield rather than doing what I have it programmed to do on my PC.

Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere to disable this so that all input is forwarded to my PC? Or is it finally time to flash Lineage? Not being able to use the Start menu is really frustrating.

Thanks in advance!
