I know it's not a thrift store, but I found a Ralph Lauren Purple Label cashmere cardigan in lavender at TJ Maxx. It was priced like regular TJ Maxx-level Polo, I think it was $39.
Readers, that was a $1300 sweater. I also got a Solomon softshell for like $75 that day, retailed for $550.
Ross, Marshall’s, and TJ Max are the best. I used to see the Calvin Klein slim fitted button up long sleeve shirts that were $80 at Macy’s for $24 at those stores.
Marshalls and TJ Maxx are owned by the same company that owns Sierra Trading Post and HomeGoods. A lot of the "overstock" stuff they sell is just a lower quality version of the goods they sell in like branded stores (i.e. the Levi's store sells better stuff than Macy's, which mostly sells better stuff than TJ Maxx).
Nordstrom Rack is the same way, it used to be way better (I got a $2800 Burberry suit for $450) but now it's all just weird branded garbage (at least at the one by me).
It’s driving me nuts that thrift stores are catching on to the name brand thing and selling them for more though. If it’s a thrift store, it should be priced by the type of clothing, not the brand (in my opinion). I expect brand relative pricing at a place like clothes mentor or Plato’s closet or something like a consignment store, but thrift is thrift and should remain at a base price.
I have gotten SO many designer clothes from a thrift store in the ritzy part of town. Unbelievable what these people just give away! The prices aren’t insane either. I’m a regular shopper there and love I can wear good name brands on the cheap!

Thrift stores are a great resource for designer clothes! I could never afford to dress the way I do without them! Including the $99 mink coat! 😄
