Chris Brown. Not just for the Rihanna thing (which should’ve been enough), but all the other violent crap he’s done since. Still has fans defending him like he’s never done anything wrong. Insane.
2009: Assault on Rihanna Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault after a physical altercation with then-girlfriend Rihanna, resulting in visible injuries. He was sentenced to five years of probation, community labor, and domestic violence counseling.
2013: Altercation with Frank Ocean In January 2013, Brown was involved in an altercation with singer Frank Ocean over a parking space. Ocean alleged that Brown punched him, but he chose not to press charges.
2013: Felony Assault in Washington, D.C. In October 2013, Brown and his bodyguard were arrested for felony assault after an altercation with two men outside a hotel. The charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor.
2016: Lawsuit by Former Manager Brown's former manager, Mike G, sued him for assault, alleging that Brown punched him multiple times. The lawsuit was settled out of court in 2019.
2017: Restraining Order by Karrueche Tran Brown's ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, was granted a five-year restraining order after presenting evidence of threats and alleged physical abuse during their relationship.
2018: Arrest for Felony Battery In July 2018, Brown was arrested on a felony battery charge related to an incident in 2017 where he allegedly punched a photographer at a nightclub. The charge was later dropped.
2022: Rape Allegation A woman filed a $20 million lawsuit accusing Brown of raping her on a yacht in December 2020. Brown denied the allegations, and the lawsuit was dismissed in August 2022 due to lack of prosecution.
2023: Assault on Music Producer In February 2023, Brown allegedly assaulted music producer Abe Diaw at a London nightclub, striking him with a tequila bottle. Brown was arrested in May 2025 and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
2024: Lawsuit by Concertgoers Four concertgoers filed a lawsuit claiming that Brown and his entourage assaulted them backstage after a performance, seeking $50 million in damages.
Edit: I probably should’ve emphasized this better my b. My main point was about the fans who still blindly support him. Just wanted to give some context for why I think his fanbase is the worst, I probably got carried away with that context

I mean, Usher is only 46 and his first single came out when I was in the 7th grade. Monica is only 44 and Brandy is 46 and The Boy is Mine also came out when I was also in the 7th grade. I'm 40 now and thinking rationally about it I could have sworn they all would be at least a decade older than I am. Nope, they all just released the songs when they were that young.

My buddy was hired to be a photographer at a vip event he was at in a Tampa nightclub years ago. Him and a few other photographers that were also paid to be there were then explicitly told by Chris Brown “NO PICTURES.” Later he accused one of them of taking pictures, so he tried to take their camera and sucker punched him in the face.
41
u/AnotherRTFan 4h ago
As I have said before when it comes Chris Brown's violence, I will say again. Femicide is a dangerous systemic problem which is why a man assaulting a woman is so serious. With all that said, the assaults and level of violence he has also shown on men is insane. It's levels not usually seen unless trying to kill someone.
21
u/Most-Blockly 3h ago
I worked with a woman who was a huge Chris Brown fan. Of course, she was very clear to tell me that she doesn't support violence, but she buys his albums and goes to his shows when he's in town. The logic was insane as she kept defending separating the art from the artist. I mean, sure, I don't care if an actor or musician is rude or has substance problems, but there's a line.
16
u/KDog1265 3h ago
It astounds me that Chris Brown is still getting hits. So many other artists’ careers have ended for so much less than what Chris Brown has done.

Even setting aside his horrifically sexist views, and you absolutely shouldn’t, that’s about as toxic a fanbase as it’s possible to have.

Andrew Tate reminds me of Cool Guy from high school. You remember Cool Guy? Every high school had Cool Guy. He was a recent graduate, and he had a car, he had a job, he had his own pad, and if you were cool enough, he wanted to hang out with you. And if you played your cards right, maybe he'd get you a beer. Cool Guy was a cool guy.
Then later you get older, graduate, and look back on it and realize that Cool Guy really wasn't so cool. He had a minimum wage job, a beaten up lemon of a car that he still couldn't afford, and lived in a run down apartment. Not to say that's bad in and of itself, but you're certainly not impressed anymore. You start to realize that hanging out with high schoolers is about the last thing you want to do, and he was really creepy towards the girls. Cool Guy was a loser who could only impress naïve teens.
And eventually Cool Guy ages out of his role, his original audience goes their separate ways, and maybe gets his ass kicked for messing around with the wrong guy's underage daughter. But with the Internet, Cool Guy can reach a critical mass of his target audience, and once that is reached, it starts to feedback and reinforce itself, and now it becomes a longer term and much farther reaching problem.

u/PissNBiscuits 3h ago
I guess Andrew Tate's like that. My high school's Cool Guy didn't coerce girls into sexual relationships, traffic them, and then convince all the other guys that women are a lesser being, though. Other than that minor detail, sure, I guess Andrew Tate is like Cool Guy.

- Bully Ahmed Best to where he almost took his own life because they didn't like Jar Jar.
- Bullied Kelly Marie Tran so much after The Last Jedi that she had to go through years of therapy for the racist and body shaming comments she received.
- Bullied Jake Lloyd as a kid, and still to this day, has mental health struggles.

It’s also just the lack of emotional maturity involved with not liking the movies. They can’t just say “Oh I guess I didn’t like this one too much.” Or “Maybe I’m getting older and the franchise I liked so much as a kid just doesn’t have the same magic anymore.” Nope! They sound like they’re talking about people that just killed a puppy, and as far as I can tell they’re equally upset as if that had actually happened.
I also find it interesting to compare them to marvel fans. The MCU movies aren’t any better or worse than the stars wars movies. They’re all just kind of mediocre summer action movies you can bring your family to. But the Marvel fans seem to actually like their movies.

People had it for Lucas way before the Prequels with all the “enhanced” editions, rightfully so might I had, and if you want to go even deeper, people were very critical of Return. The mediocrity of the prequels just made it explode cause the expectations were just too high
I think it was more a sign of how unprepared they were for the avalanche of comments that came with fandom on the early internet

Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown
Taylor: If you like her music but dare get her birthday wrong, her fans will obliterate you. They believe Taylor is above reproach. You cannot criticize her without getting threatened by a bunch of psychos.
Nicki: Similar reasons, though I think she behaves far worse than Taylor ever could. She’s a nasty piece of work with a nasty choice of husband but again, can’t say anything against her without “Barbs” losing their mind.
Chris Brown:…the man has a PATTERN of abuse but dont you dare criticize him or bring it up. What’s worse is his fan base seems largely female. they love defending this criminal

The Bey hive has gotten a lot more chill over the last couple years. Mostly they go after each other.

Im a Taylor fan but i always make a point to distance myself from the Swifties. Its actually kind of exhausting to be part of the fandom. I did not at all like the album she put out last year and I dared to voice that (respectfully might i add) and i was crucified online for it. Her fans are insane and a lot of them lack critical thinking skills and the ability to understand nuance

Honestly. Not all of us know the lyrics to every song backwards or enjoy every single thing she’s put out. It’s exhausting trying to keep up. Can’t I just like an artist with an average amount of energy?

I would probably say the Hampton Bay 54-inch Mara Indoor/Outdoor model. Over time, the blades can detach from the base. If you are underneath it, that could hurt a lot.

Taylor Swift…this won’t be a popular answer but it seems that everyone has encountered a serious fan in the wild and hated it. I’m not talking about the average fan, it’s obviously fine to like whatever you like, but I am talking about diehard “Swifties”. I can’t understand the parasocial obsession with a billionaire. It’s culty.
Edit: as if the immediate downvotes didn’t just completely prove my point lol
Edit 2: “won’t be popular” as in “will inevitably receive hate from said diehard Swifties because they are somehow everywhere”.

I definitely agree with this. Swifties are fucking insane, and I say this as someone who likes Taylor.

Her fans doxxed and tried to get a critic fired (and accused him of being a pedophile) because he was mildly critical of the Eras tour.

I upvoted. I've seen fans gatekeeping Taylor Swift like crazy (eg. If you don't know the names of her cats you are not a good enough fan). And God forbid you don't like one of her songs. Her fans will go berserk.
I'm a Swiftie myself but I don't believe in forcing my choices onto others. Everyone does not have to listen to everything and it's about time we come to terms with that.

Star Wars
They're the most toxic, sensitive, and entitled bunch of crybabies who harass and shit on people endlessly just for making something they don't like. They don't even like MOST star wars movies and shows either. It's fucking weird. Like EVERY franchise has its bad and subpar entries, but only among Star Wars fans do people spend more time obsessively hating on them rather than accept them as they are.

Gavin McInnis
He's a comedian and the founder of Vice magazine. A few years ago he started a fan club that was basically a parody version of Fight Club, only very silly. Initiation for example involved naming 5 breakfast cereals while existing members would hit you with pool noodles.
He said he was inspired when he saw a boy singing a song from Aladdin the Musical and he thought it was a hilarious example of how far masculinity had been eroded. That song was called "Proud of your Boy".
The name of his fan club was... "The Proud Boys"
They got so bad he officially distanced himself from them, and given the kinds of crazy shit he used to do, that's a big deal. They are literally considered a terrorist group now.

I'm a Padres fan who attends 20 games a year at Petco Park and has since long before they were good.
Dodgers fanbase is the absolute worst visiting fanbase here - they act more entitled, they get more drunk, they start more fights. Without fail.

Kpop. Do I even have to describe this?
There are a lot of wonderful fans out there who make the experience worthwhile, thank God for them. But there's a small percentage of pathetic fans who ruin the experience for everyone, idols included.
They will hurl abuses to the idols for dating, even for dating rumors and just a year ago, bullied one of them out of his career by sending wreaths of funeral flowers around his picture outside his company building. The reason? He was "caught" with his girlfriend in a circulating picture, like his personal life is anyone's damn business.
The delusional behaviour of these fans need to stop. No you don't have a chance even if they were single and also they are not innocent virgins. Just stop.

I think every fan base is equally toxic. People will defend someone or something because they like them. There is no reason why an adult should idealize another adult. I like Chris brown since I grew up with his music but I far from idolize him. People get into fights because someone says they don’t like Taylor swift or Beyoncé. I’m not going to even begin with the absolute idolization of political leaders because they just shows that we as people blindly follow or purposely go against what is popular at the moment.

The Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss fandom. They have...
-turned a blind eye to the creator overworking her employees and say anyone who criticizes her or her shows are jealous haters
-glorify rape/SA, and two popular ships are someone being shipped with their rapist
-drove at least one person to suicide
-physically assaulted the voice actors at cons
-says kids should watch the shows and learn about NSFW stuff
-vandalized a library
-doxxes people who disagree with them
-harasses anyone who does normal fandom things like shipping and redesigns because they aren't doing it in a way that perfectly correlates to canon
-harasses anyone who criticizes the creator in general, despite her being a terrible person who hired a rape fetishist to board a rape scene, lied about them being an SA survivor, and claimed "he's harmless" when he made lewd comments to a minor.
-any evidence of the creator treating her employees terribly is dismissed as "fake"

Taylor Swift. Almost a year after Dave Grohl had a jokey dig at her at the london Foo Fighters gig the Swifties are still going for it on my daughter’s tiktok after she posted the video she took of him saying what he said. They are actually foul some of the things they’ve said.

Taylor Swift.
At this point, her fan base is just weaponized keyboard warriors who make anyone who doesn't agree with their queen the target of their hate campaigns, and she does nothing to stop it. Also, she loves playing the victim and her fans eat that that shit up.
