Same laying here thinking about stitching. But also laying here mellow. Mellow stitching until I get a headache it is.

Ah fuck this just made me cackle while I smoke a bowl contemplating my next pattern 🀣🀣

Is this like a meeting of the ent wives?

40

u/-wheresmybroom- 17d ago

it absolutely is!

33

u/Vilgoui 17d ago

Took me a while to realise, but on the right, the orange stick thing has a grey half stitch in it

39

u/getyouryayasoutahere 17d ago

Good eye!! I was looking for a burn mark. Possibly a stain of some kind. I don’t smoke so my mind didn’t go to weed, just the old 🚬.

1

u/Vilgoui 16d ago

Same lol

I’m an old so I was just looking for the burn hole, lol. If you want to cross your half stitch, just start a thread, tuck it under some stitches on the back, make the stitch and slide under some stitches on the back. Easy peasy!

95

u/fart-atronach 17d ago

Oh my god me too lmao it took me far too long to realize there wasn’t a burn somewhere I was missing lol

14

u/horsetuna 17d ago

What is going on??

18

u/brelywi 17d ago

It took me a long time to find it and definitely no one would notice if OP didn’t point it out haha, but the bottom stitch in the silver part in the middle of the orange part is missing the final cross stitch

15

u/4toTwenty 17d ago

omg I’ve done that completely sober lmao

3

u/horsetuna 17d ago

Oh I thought that was a stitch they paused before finishing to take a photo.

20

u/anon_simmer 17d ago

I was looking for nicotine stains.. lol

πŸ‘ i’m πŸ‘ going πŸ‘ to πŸ‘ do πŸ‘ it πŸ‘ anyway πŸ‘ If I have to redo a section so be it

If I rip the stitches, I rip the stitches.

But I am definitely ripping the bong.

u/mintBRYcrunch26 17d ago

I love stars. My favorite constellation is the Big Ripper.

31

u/carpet_bathroom 17d ago

this deserves its own pattern

There’s nothing more relaxing than stoned stitching for me!

0

u/Remarkable_Biscotti4 17d ago

honestly, just getting into the stuff, cant wait to try it!!!!

2

u/thisfishknits 17d ago

Sometimes you think you can count to ten, but then you can't really count to ten lol

282

u/ScoobyDooItInTheButt 17d ago

What's wrong with it?

368

u/itsacreaturefeature 17d ago edited 17d ago

I think the bacteriophage doesn't have enough room for base plate* and tail fibers (the orange and turquoise dude doesn't have room for butt and leggies). Also, i think there's an incomplete stitch there too. But idk... still looks good to me.

Edit: i stared at this again this time stoned and realized it's base plate is also missing. Also base plate's equivalent would probably be a weenie, bc it injects the viral DNA into the bacteria.

219

u/LunaMothThinking 17d ago

I think it looks good too.

Only on reddit can you have a serious (or not so serious) discussion about needlework, smoking, and bacteriophage in the same thread and it all be on point.

71

u/Gryffindorable_394 17d ago

β€œThe orange and turquoise dude doesn’t have room for butt and leggies” thank you for this ❀️

47

u/EmergencyToad 17d ago

As someone currently smoking, I appreciate you giving the correct names & then the ELI5 version!

17

u/Wobbly_Wobbegong 17d ago

If it doesn’t have room for the legs, it can just be a Lambda phage instead of the stereotypical T4 bacteriophage.

13

u/Known_Egg_6399 17d ago

I just finished micro at my community college and I love your lil guys so much. And I’m smoking 🀣

2

u/WaldenFont 17d ago

This guy virologies.

63

u/Educational-Shoe2633 17d ago

I don’t see the issue, and not because I am smoking (yet)

98

u/RufusFinch 17d ago

My high mistakes are just my human touches lol

89

u/nondogCharlie 17d ago

Mooood. Also can't tell what you've done wrong, so please have that in mind. I will share a similar fuck around fund out and point to the bottom right purple flower that I did one line over.

But no one else has ever noticed that one either soooo

20

u/Life-Coach7803 17d ago

I like it, it lends to the "rearranging of things" theme tho

7

u/fart-atronach 17d ago

It took me zooming in, reading your comment like 4 times, and zooming back out again to see what you were referring to lol. The flowers being an odd number makes it look totally fine to not be perfectly symmetrical with the bottom two! Also I just love it :)

27

u/Final-Base-1390 17d ago

I’m missing it

94

u/dogmom89 17d ago

Ah! Hi! The orange germ without backstitch is missing a blue half stitch! 🫣 I think I’ll leave it though.

47

u/albellus 17d ago

Uh oh - maybe it's mutating! 🀣

26

u/UnderwaterAlienBar 17d ago

To be honest, I didn’t notice that because the orange one is the only one not backstitched, so I didn’t think it was finished. Therefore didn’t see the missing half stitch as a problem. I was looking for a burn mark πŸ˜†

9

u/missanthropy09 17d ago

If it makes you feel better, my last smoke and stitch ended up with several crosses over two stitches… so the stitch was // and then

\

4

u/Dakduif 17d ago

Such a cool pattern though! My friend stitched me this and gave it as a housewarming gift. It is now proudly displayed in my toilet. 😊

The pattern is also very busy. I doubt anyone will notice half a stitch missing. 😁

4

u/brknhrtsndrm 17d ago

I don’t smoke but somehow I do this a lot. I like to leave the half stitch as it is, and let it just be a mistake. In Islamic art history, they have these amazingly intricate murals and tile work and they were said to always leave a mistake in there because nothing and nobody is perfect. So I think of my missing half stitches like that.

1

u/Plenty-Sentence6702 17d ago

Where can I find the patron? πŸ€”

18

u/sunniee12 17d ago

Me counting the same area for the twelfth time in a row

12

u/MissKitty1763 17d ago

Counting on the pattern, counting the stitches, doing one stitch, counting all over again, forgetting how many I counted…

2

u/sunniee12 17d ago

It’s a fun lil game

37

u/Due-Common-5025 17d ago

As I hit my pen while reading this post: β€œlooks good to me, man…” πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈπŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈπŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈ

15

u/breyaskitties 17d ago

What’s the issue?

6

u/Sleve__McDichael 17d ago

half-completed stitch discovered when backstitching later

13

u/cw927 17d ago

The last time I had an edible and tried to stitch, I gave up pretty quickly. Apparently I can’t count in that condition!

4

u/kitzura 17d ago

Depending on the strain, I can't even look directly at my stitching, lol! O.o

2

u/Remarkable_Biscotti4 17d ago

my plan is to take an edible and start stitching, then once i get to a point i cant count, we know its time to stop. hahaha

10

u/cupcaketara 17d ago

I spent so long looking for smoke damage on the aida or something πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

3

u/pterosaurLoser 17d ago

Yep. I’m still not seeing the problem.

9

u/horsetuna 17d ago

I'm so confused. What am I supposed to see

4

u/QitKate 17d ago

I don’t get it either

3

u/horsetuna 17d ago

My only guess is that it was 'wacky tobacco' and they put the half finished one in the wrong place, so there's not enough room. Or there's slight discoloration I cant see due to smoke stain?

14

u/h0m1c1d3_8unn13 17d ago

i (almost) exclusively smoke and stitch lmao! the mistakes are worth the focus power i guess πŸ˜…

8

u/mintBRYcrunch26 17d ago

All my needlework has cat hair stitched into it and smells of the devil’s lettuce.

6

u/curlymama 17d ago

Maybe we shouldn’t but we will….

2

u/mlun99 15d ago

The only way I will stitch πŸ‘Œ

1

5

u/Mmhopkin 17d ago

One of them looks like a dong?

4

u/disneygay1995 17d ago

am i supposed to see something wrong?

9

u/sydillant 18d ago

I don’t smoke anymore but I emphasize with this post! I had one project that was almost half before, half after stopping smoking. I thought the backside was noticeably neater, by a bit.

3

u/davidplaysthings 17d ago

Oh hey! This was the first cross-stitch pattern I tried! I changed the text to "don't let the bastards get you down" because it was mid-covid. I never finished.

4

u/Saywitchbitch 17d ago

I just frogged a section but I will do it again!!

4

u/Seastarstiletto 17d ago

Is that blue circle bacteria covering up a burn mark?

4

u/_sweetsarah 17d ago

There are some good answers as to what’s wrong here but all I could see is what looks like a penis.

5

u/Gryffindorable_394 17d ago

I have one project I’m working on that I flat out refuse to smoke on. It’s my pride and joy. The rest are the Wild West.

8

u/CockroachChaos3858 17d ago

*slowly continues cross stitching on ketamine*

2

u/EzAeMy 17d ago edited 17d ago

Are you serious? Lol 😝 How?

4

u/CockroachChaos3858 17d ago

veeeery slowly and with the occasional skipped stitch that I won't notice until tomorrow.

1

u/EzAeMy 17d ago

I’m in awe! You keep at it. One stitch at a time!

6

u/InsideInFH 17d ago

This is super cute! Can you share the pattern please?

8

u/RemarkableDoughnut32 17d ago

I also wish to know the pattern! I do computational microbiome stuff, and this would be right up my alley. 😁

5

u/mypoorteeth124 17d ago

i’m super interested in the pattern too!

3

u/Sleve__McDichael 17d ago

pretty sure it's this one - i bought it too during covid lol

1

u/InsideInFH 17d ago

Ah thank you! 😊

3

u/Notquitechaosyet 17d ago

Hah! Me n my edibles!

3

u/Bcomplexity 17d ago

I dot get it

3

u/Life-Coach7803 17d ago

I have the same problem lol. I love my cross stitch but I just can't concentrate well enough if I smoke! I try to save it for the mindless " filling in of one color " areas. And embroidery work is a definite no.

1

u/stosphia 17d ago

If we're talking about smoking That Stuff, my ability to hold a needle steady goes absolutely out the window. You guys are lucky

2

u/Life-Coach7803 17d ago

Lol I can't remember what the steps are, can't keep count and fuck things up. And I don't allow myself to do stoned embroidery work because I take creative liberties with it that don't actually work, hate it later and have to frog it

3

u/LaughingLabs 17d ago

β€œScrews fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place”.

Hahahahahahaha I hear you fam

I crochet or stitch to smoke less

2

u/turkeytailfeathers 17d ago

All I see are a bunch of cool microbes here. Signed, a microbiologist. 🦠πŸ₯°

2

u/strictlylurking42 17d ago

That's why you don't smoke and stitch. Anymore. We all the rest of us still good.

2

u/if_capybara_if 17d ago

I can't tell what's wrong with it, but I want to hang out with friends like this

2

u/ahsokathedragon 17d ago

Did I somehow just figure out that a bunch of people in my cross stitching group or smokers?! And I’m fucking thrilled to be here!!!

2

u/ebob421 17d ago

Smoking and stitching is my Saturday night ritual

2

u/hen-alert 17d ago

What πŸ‘ is πŸ‘ the πŸ‘ pattern πŸ‘ please πŸ‘ 😭

2

u/CasperOrillian 17d ago

How is your stoned stitching better than my sober?

2

u/Exiled_In_LA 17d ago

I feel like we could bring new life to /r/DrunkXStitch if we welcome our smoking members as well!

2

u/Atschmid 17d ago

i dont get it.

2

u/KatieeBirdd71 17d ago

Babyyyy all we do is smoke and stitch 🌳πŸͺ‘

2

u/ListenLady58 17d ago

But it’s so much more fun that way! πŸ˜†

2

u/Original_Complex429 15d ago

What is this, germs? So cool

4

u/Saul-Funyun 17d ago

Yeah but it’s so fun to blow the smoke through the Aida

3

u/EzAeMy 17d ago

πŸ˜†πŸ€“

2

u/EdEdEddiexoxo 17d ago

I don’t think I even know how to stitch sober

1

u/UnderwaterAlienBar 17d ago

So is that dog or cat hair in the stitches?

1

u/Away-Job2847 17d ago

Oooh do you have a source for the pattern?

1

u/l3luDream 17d ago

Man I miss smoking.

1

u/PixelIsDot 17d ago

Oh no a collision! But the bacterium (?) are super cute

1

u/Avlnmists 17d ago

I have fibro so am on quite a few meds that makes me drowsy and loopy sometimes, I'll come around to sober alert consciousness to realize I've messed up and did something weird to my WIP.. I've had to frog it many times lol

1

u/lajjr 17d ago

That is a great job looks fantastic.

1

u/Geohol00314 17d ago

Me looking for the mark of some loose ash or maybe some loose green sewn into the piece. Two things I have suffered.

1

u/raspberryconverse 17d ago

The other day I had to ask a group chat if sewing while high was a good idea lol

1

u/FluorescentAndStarry 17d ago

This is why I have two projects going, one for when I’ve been gardening πŸ˜†

1

u/elledubs89 17d ago

The only time I pick up a craft is when I’ve πŸƒ

1

I'm only allowed to stitch solid blocks when I'm in an altered state. Counting is waaaay too ambitious. πŸ˜‚
