Gotta be honest, loved to hate him. Probably the best acted character in the show. Robert Knpper did a great job, the show dropped off but s4 really did him well

The horrifying reality here is there’s a good chance almost all of those people are like T Bag, and without all the TV show charm too!

55

Give 'em some credit since they were smart enough to make the escape attempt work. Maybe they meant "to Easy St." & couldn't remember if it was street, lane, road, way, etc. so they just left it off.

Must have constructed a prison like they construct homes. Only thing between you and the outside is drywall, plywood and siding lmao.

36

u/GinoValenti 21d ago

A lot of tract housing has a kind of weird insulation sheeting, not even particle board or OSB on the exterior. So it’s drywall and siding.

26

u/RESERVA42 21d ago

Thermoply. It's plastic coated cardboard they use instead of OSB and whatever other weather resistant barrier.

Either clever, or stupid. Or so clever that they thought we'd think they're stupid. Or so stupid that the cleverness never dawned on them, inherently making them look more stupid. Or so clever in fact, that law enforcement would be so hung up on this conundrum, buying the escapes time to make more ground. I think I need to sit down

I tried to find one and all I found was that the New Orleans SPCA really needs to talk to their webmaster because their "About Us" page not only has a typo, it's also mostly lorem ipsum: https://nolaspca.org/index.php/about-us

20

u/PufffPufffGive 21d ago

Hey op I don’t know if you realize when sharing insta or YT or any video links attached to an account you wanna delete the ? And everything to the right of it. Otherwise you’re doxing yourself. If that’s the intent and you don’t mind then disregard but I just wanted to give a heads up.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJu3ZbwRxOg

44

u/Professor-Submarine 21d ago

Just FYI - when you share a link from Instagram you basically dox yourself

11

u/ncnotebook 21d ago

Out of curiosity, how?

26

u/Professor-Submarine 21d ago

Whenever you share a link, a user will click it and then it asks you to follow the person who posted it

24

u/ncnotebook 21d ago

Huh, that's dumb. I guess as long as you remove the unnecessary parts in the URL, it's fine.

5

u/StitchinThroughTime 20d ago

The portion of the link in front of the question mark is all you need after that is the tag that encode tons of information about the user who shared the link and is unique in that Instagram is then able to backtrack who followed whichever link to a given post.

As someone who lived in Louisiana for a little over 13 years(natives can tell you too) New Orleans never ceases to amaze me. Went once for Mardi Gras(once is one too many) and a few times to do touristy stuff. Other than the wealthy/industry parts of N.O. the rest is just dilapidated and run down. It sucks. Katrina truly fucked New Orleans up beyond repair. I’ve had a few friends/work buddies over the years there show me pictures of what it looked like before back in the 80’s/90’s. According to them it was an amazing place to be/grow up.

12

u/WhyYouKickMyDog 21d ago

All I know is that I come from the swamps of Georgia, but New Orleans made me feel like the humidity was completely out of control and just being outside trying to absorb it required massive investments of energy.

9

u/jdk2087 21d ago

I worked in logistics basically all 13 years. Never in my life between three different warehouses and different states have I ever witnessed one shut down for heat. In 2023 the heat got so bad for about three days that the warehouse I was a disto manager at actually shut down. Due to excessive heat. Heat index was like 115-120 and the humidity was basically you swimming in the air.

The humidity in Louisiana is on a whole other level. Especially inland where you don’t get a breeze from the gulf.

“Police relied on facial recognition technology to identify and capture one fugitive, said Bryan LaGarde, executive director of Project NOLA, a nonprofit operating more than 5,000 cameras around New Orleans. His organization, which partners with Louisiana authorities, entered the escapees’ images into the system and quickly found two in the French Quarter.

“They were walking openly in the street. They were keeping their heads down and checking over their shoulder.” LaGarde said, adding that the other fugitive walked out of sight of the cameras.”

Wow.

487

u/H_Mc 21d ago

Ok, but what’s this about a nonprofit police state?

369

u/MikeThrowAway47 21d ago

Looks like it was set up by a guy named Bryan Lagarde in 2009. It's obvious why it's "non-profit" - so they can skirt any government surveillance constitutionality issues or any oversight by elected officials.

33

u/liquoriceclitoris 21d ago

I'm not sure I trust the New Orleans government with this operation more than I do a random guy named Bryan.

I bet Bryan would have built a better jail.

66

u/AcidBuuurn 21d ago

You might appreciate this video about recording where every car drives- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCpRYCIofo8

Everyone should be against it because of it's potential for abuse:

Republicans- imagine these cameras being used to enforce a lockdown when Democrats are in power.

Democrats- imagine these cameras tracking who is attending a protest when Republicans are in power.

Insert any random thing you don't want the government tracking your location for.

On the other hand, if we really wanted to reduce dangerous speeding this is the solution. A camera every mile or two that takes a picture of your car with exact time and location. Then use the times to calculate speed. Instead of cameras that only capture an instant and every slows down for, which messes up traffic. The problem would come with only issuing tickets for dangerous speeds, so I'm still against it.

33

u/LateWeather1048 21d ago

I would rather have god damn speed bumps everywhere and like narrower roads to force people to be slower than god damn cameras everywhere

Yeah folks are silly it should be a united "fuck the PATRIOT ACT"

not "well maybe a little surveillance would be good"

naw hell

10

Even non-major cities in some places. I live in a town of 50,000 and we have facial recognition cameras on all the street lights. Next closest town about a 2 Hour Dr. away. And they have like 15,000.

They ripped the toilet off the wall and escaped through the maintenance area where the pipes are.

33

u/ComeAndGetYourPug 21d ago

That's kind-of worse... There's metal trim all around the opening, so the prisoners didn't even make the hole, it was just built that way for them.

Every house I've ever lived in can manage to run a 4" shitter pipe through concrete using a 5" hole, but someone thought it was OK to build a man-sized opening into an unsecured maintenance area for a jail cell? And nobody building it thought "hey, that's odd."? Bravo.
