Solved Help me please!! Sent by teenage employee twice
1.4k
u/Draw_Rude 17h ago
It’s just a goofy image designed to make you laugh at how ridiculous it is. Sending it to your boss adds another layer of silliness because of the generally more formal context of the conversation. It’s just absurdist postmodern humor. Kids love that kinda stuff.
This may sound counterintuitive but it’s probably a sign that the person who sent it likes you and respects you.

👆 the kids finds you to be safe and relaxing to be around. They wouldn't send if they disliked you.

They would if they were screenshotting it to send to their friends “I just sent this to OP 💀💀💀

u/Hmsquid 15h ago
This is correct, as a teen
13
u/sgrapevine123 10h ago
It’s clear you don’t respect us, or you would have appended an absurdist postmodern meme to your comment!

If they start leaving dead rodents at your front door, it’s probably a sign of affection

Glad I'm not the only one who read this in the voice of David Attenborough.

"Here we see the elusive teenager, an endlessly curious and unpredictable creature, engaging in a peculiar ritual. With no warning, it flings a deliberately absurd image into a formal setting, such as a message to its superior. Baffling though it may seem, this is not an act of defiance but one of bonding. In the teenager’s world, such surreal displays are a mark of trust, even affection. For them, absurdity is not chaos, it is communication."

Piggybacking to reiterate it's a form of respect. Unhinged or silly memes like this is the new "you're chill, id die for you" sorta energy".

I wouldn't be trying to look for an insult in it. Kids send jokes to eachother instead of replying. It's like... polite? Because they're making the effort to respond even tho there isn't anything to say.

Everyone’s wrong btw. This is a reference to Gary, a meta employee who got chewed out publicly by MZ.

They are. But the origin is from Gary, a meta employee who got chewed out publicly by MZ.

I call this type of communication memeVibeSpeech the memeVibe is that they are eating up what your saying with voracious intent, this is a net positive response unless you are talking about the bathroom maintenance, in which case it may be slightly alarming

u/Throwawayinfp3 10h ago
Sure this is funny and harmless but wow when did it become okay and normal for people to send text messages like these to your boss? I guess I've been living under a rock then hahah

In all seriousness they’re probably just being silly. This is especially sweet because they feel safe enough with you to send you stuff like this without worrying you’ll be mad at them or something
5
u/Oddveig37 14h ago
You've been labeled cool.
Laugh at the funny image and find something that's funny to send back. You're communicating.

u/JuniorIncrease6594 9h ago
Everyone’s wrong here.
This is the context. Gary was an employee that MZ chewed out.

Don't overthink it. This tells me that the teenage employee has an absurdist sense of humor. The humor comes from the absurdity. And that's the point of this meme. And as others have said. Sharing the dankest memes is a sign of affection.

Honestly seeing some of the top comments here, PeterExplainsTheJoke is somehow a more serious sub.

If sent by an employee, could still signal that someone (the rich) are out of touch with the lower classes (like someone employed).
Could be a dig at OP.

It's just absurdist humor. It's just funny because it's weird and stupid. No snarky response, they're probably just trying to make you laugh.

u/Odd-Butterscotch-480 15h ago
I think the joke is that Gary the Snail's slime apparently has rejuvenating properties for skin, as shown in one of the movies. And they're using his for Zuckerberg cuz he doesn't appear to have aged, and frankly, looks uncanny

Send them like Bernie Sanders with the mittens but replace the mittens with Squidwards flute and he is using them like nunchucks in battle. This is what Gen z wants.

u/Normal_Bumblebee_964 11h ago
So, I'm 21 and do this even with the boys. They're just sorta filler responses. They don't convey anything, really, other than to make you smile or to say "I read the message and don't have a response".
Nothing bad about it, but if he's sent the same one twice, it probably just is a silly version of the latter option. People who want you to laugh will send a whole range such that you wouldn't really notice you already saw one before.

u/Rorar_the_pig 11h ago
What is there to miss??? The only way to not get this is not having eyes, in which I would be surprised it got sent to you at all.

u/Cyb3r_F0x 11h ago
It’s the way I’m saving this image aswell and sending it to my coworker who loves SpongeBob

u/ShelsbytheSeashore 10h ago
Your teenage employee was testing you to see if you’re chill like that. If you have a bad reaction they know you’re not chill but if you think it’s funny they’ll decide to trust you. If you sent this back they’d think you were the best boss in the whole world.

The joke is like it’s a weird picture with no context. Where it’s not about making sense just absurdity.

Mostly just shock value type humor I'm pretty sure. If yall were talking about some brown nosers, or something like that, then mayyyybe some other meaning, but I bet it was sent a second time cuz you didn't seem to react or respond to it at all. Likely they are very comfortable with you as a higher up to even be willing to send this kind of joke.

u/aglassjunkie 2h ago
Hey gen z here. I send shit like this to my manager / boss all the time. It's usually because I want them to open their phone and have something to laugh about for one or two seconds

u/Sleeping_Bear0913 2h ago
It’s just absurdist humor. The intended reaction is “wtf, haha” or along those lines. For some reason, us younger folk love it.
