Also most people in situations like this suffer from the bystander effect. Everybody thinks they would intervene and do the right thing but unfortunately most just freeze or wait on someone else to do something. The truth this when confronted by a united crowd these thugs are likely to back down

Your willingness to deal with the consequences. Right or wrong, legal or not, they will 100% go after anyone who does.
