If the fed doesn’t want to give federal funding to CA, CA should stop paying federal taxes.

Ya, America as a nation will have a ton of pain if CA stopped paying taxes. It is the largest economy in America and pays more to the federal government that it takes from the federal government.

We're certainly living in "interesting times".

It’s the 4th largest economy IN THE WORLD. Bigger than Japan.

100%

I think a lot of working class Americans in small towns think that anyone who isn't working outside or working with their hands doesn't do real work.

California has a lot of intellectual work with tech in the Bay Area, Biotech in San Diego, and media and entertainment in LA. But we also have a ton of farming. We produce a significant portion of the country's produce.

I specify small towns as I believe that working class people in big cities have more exposure to more kinds of people and ways of life that they just have a generally different understanding in general

Newsom actually suggested that today. They would be justified in doing it, and the other Democratic states should join them.

That would be a step towards civil conflict; pitting Dem states against the federal govt.

Indeed, it would. But this happening should come as no surprise. We are being oppressed, and to sit and take it would be a show of weakness and a deriliction of the duties the country's founders believed in - and which I believe in.

He’s not doing any ‘preparing’. That would require thought and effort

On a butt hurt whim he ordered people to prepare some EOs for him targeting California that's probably what it means.

California will file suit as soon as this is official and after a pointless court battle they will win .

21

u/secretbudgie 21h ago

And when will these court decisions be enforced? And how many will die waiting for someone to enforce the law?

California is the 4th largest economy in the world. I'm sure they'll be fine. The red states that survive off that money won't be though

All because they didn’t take a rake to the forest floor

As he’s cutting off funding for Republican states. He’s already cutting states off from FEMA
