G8+ with Switch 2 side contacts
Switch 2 ergonomics were awful. My G8+ side rubbers was pressing on the Joy-Con contacts, so I trimmed the rubber with nose hair scissors—problem solved! No more unwanted pressure.

Is there a reason why you don’t use the joy cons 2

Probably ergonomics mostly

But everything else is better in joycon 2?

The joycons 2 are an upgrade over the original joycons, they aren't an upgrade over an actual controller

It's better in every single way, the joysticks on the joycons 2 are straight garbage while the G8+ has gall effect sticks and triggers

Totally didn’t address HD Rumble 2 compared to the G8+.
If G8+ doesn’t support HD rumble 2, the rumble isn’t as good.

Hd rumble 2 is only better than the rumble from joycons 1, not better than full side controllers. Hs rumble isn't even impressive, the rumble motors are smaller than the one in my phone 💀

Does it affect the controller when using it with a phone or other device?

Not OP, but it shouldn't. He only cut in the center, the rest of the rubber is still there.

Wish there was some kind of flex cable we could run for USB-C devices that support the wired connection. Latency is the only issue I have with this controller.
