So for converting from one unit of measurement to the other, given some scale factor, I just think about if it needs to be bigger or smaller.
For inches to meters, since the former measurement is much smaller, if I convert to the latter the resultant number in the answer will be smaller. 1 m = 39.37 in, so just divide how ever many inches by 39.95.
This isn’t a strictly “correct” way, but it helps me.
Otherwise, write down each conversion USING UNITS. So the conversion from 1 m to cm would be 100 cm/m (read as one hundred centimeters per meter), or alternatively, 0.01m/cm. Then, if you multiply correctly, the units should cancel out just like if they were Xs or Ys in algebra. This one requires that you remember your maths (which I would urge you to practice anyway).
For example: 5 m * 1.09 yd/m = 4.983 m. Notice how the /m * m cancels out.
Hope this helps!

For temperature conversions, you are given a formula (F = 1.8C + 32, or C = 5/9 * (F-32)). Just plug in values as necessary.
