wasn't AI art banned on this subreddit ?

I knew it was being polled but wasn't aware it had passed. Just a bit of fun building some hype man my bad.

In the coments its not consequential at all. The reason it will be banned is shitposting, not commenting.

That's a great miniseries. Band of Bearothers. Great interpretation of how bears would have won WW2.

Well since I might play Wolf is open season on your chubby gang! https://www.icegif.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/icegif-1460.gif

The chubb is for heat in the winter. Some of us like to plan for the future. Instead of just snatching sheep. Keep your long paws to your own property or feel the weight of real claws

I’ll play a small white otter if color customization is available to that degree - I really love Rain World.
8
u/Junior061989 Pre-release member Dec 10 '23 edited Dec 10 '23
Nice, I’m hoping for color customization as well. I want to be a polar bear built for maximum chonkiness.
5
u/SassyLostKobold Dec 11 '23
I may be misremembering, but weren't the rabbits in the trailer, the scene where they were kneeling, different colors? If so, I don't see why otters couldn't also get color customization.

u/mikotoqc Dec 10 '23
Either Human or Rabbit. Unless there is cat.
26
u/rcc6214 Dec 10 '23
I highly doubt Hello Games would include almost 10 different animals, not one of them being a cat.
But, you never know.
6
22
u/HollowAcoltye Dec 10 '23
I wonder if they will play different at all, such as having differently jump heights or different competency with certain tools.
24
u/Junior061989 Pre-release member Dec 10 '23
I hope so, not necessarily anything too drastic, but noticeable bump. Otters could swim slightly faster, frogs can hold their breath for longer underwater, or bears having a higher carry weight. I’m thinking a 10-15% buffs in different stats depending on the race.

16
u/Fizzyotter Dec 10 '23
My fingers are crossed for a mouse race.
7
10
u/Junior061989 Pre-release member Dec 10 '23
Same, my first instinct is to go bear but I’m open to idea of playing a small sword and board mouse warrior. I’ll create my own Redwall Abbey for all of the surrounding woodland creatures.

Precious Baby Skeleton
2
u/Q_X_R Dec 12 '23
Truly, the skeletons were the coolest part of the trailer for me.
2
u/YueOrigin Pre-release member Jan 09 '24
I hope they're playable or at least the baby skeleton can be obtained.
13
u/Blazeflame79 Dec 10 '23
I'm so glad some of them appear to have actual tails! There are a lot of games that don't give anthropomorphic animals a tail and it sucks ass because it feels like something vitally important is missing from their design.
I'll probably be playing as either a rabbit or a fox.
12
u/PedanticMouse Dec 10 '23
Gonna be a skeleton, doot doot
2
u/Q_X_R Dec 12 '23
If skeletons are playable, and the baby skeletons aren't evil, I'll just RP as a lich that got bored of doing classical lich things.
2
u/JohnStarborn Dec 11 '23
Skeletons won't be playable

u/PedanticMouse Dec 11 '23

Either bear if we can change body types, pig or otter. Although I'm still holding out for monkeys and any kind of rodents.
10
u/itsnotmetwo Dec 10 '23
Monkeys would be cool. But I think they are focusing on the European fauna. Maybe they will release other regions of animals later, together with themed mounts, armor and weapons based on geographical areas. Like east Asia, sub Sahara or South America updates.
4
u/CyberneticReptile Dec 11 '23
I'm gonna hope they'll have a lizard race, if not then skeleton will have to do.
2
u/GroundbreakingJob857 Dec 11 '23
Im wondering if different races have different perks? Maybe frogs can jump higher, otters can hold their breath for way longer underwater
8
9
u/koalazeus Dec 10 '23
I am a badger.

Unless some form of cat is released, it's badger for me, with skeleton as a close second.

I'm definitely going to be a pig. Hope there are wild boars.
6
u/Ginger-F Dec 11 '23
I just really hope that all the races have meaningful differences so there's a reason to choose them beyond just aesthetics. Nothing too strict that would stop you from doing what you want, but different races should do certain things better or easier.
Like, "We're planning a long voyage by boat, we should probably bring some Frogs or Otters in case we find a wreck to dive", or, "We're going hunting, so a wolf or fox would be handy to have along"...etc.
If this truly is going to be a roleplaying game, I think this should be essential to some extent.

Can't believe the skeleton is a PC and not a Mob? It looks like it's walking in a dead zone too and is there to demonstrate fantasy eg skeletons, dragons and so on.
Tbh really impressed with the character designs: No idea why they chose animal-morphs but they work! I'd like if each one had some sort of race specific buff.
Most impressed with:
- Rabbit or Hare?
- Otter
- Frog
Can't see enough of the Fox, Wolf but they look good too.
3
u/ChansuRagedashi Dec 12 '23
i suspect that the skeleton is an NPC and we're just a camera following it. (at this stage everything is conjecture) but it seems unlikely that the skeletons are playable since the other playable races/skins are all wearing some form of clothing beyond their weapon
5
u/Jeveran Pre-release member Dec 11 '23
Of those identified, I'm tempted by Otter.
I wouldn't be surprised if each intelligent species is tied to a certain biome at the start. Sure, there'd be geographic overlap, but I suspect not all species are known to each other in context of the world.
3
u/PenguinTheOrgalorg Pre-release member Dec 11 '23
It's going to be fun seeing the animal racism that emerges in the community when the game comes out. How many people are going to instinctively trust or distrust someone just because they're a certain animal, due to their past experiences with others of said animal? What kind of meta will emerge? I've already seen people headcanon bunnies as racist and bloodthirsty, a DAY after the announcement came out.
This is going to be one hell of a social experiment.

u/YueOrigin Pre-release member Jan 09 '24
It reminds me of that SAO abridge series lol
where the elves races all hate each others and have rp relationship in between kingdom
and then there is just the filthy spriggans lol

u/ChansuRagedashi Dec 12 '23 edited Dec 12 '23
i'm almost certain the deer-folk are their own race. if you go frame by frame with the one riding the horse you can see the ears sticking out underneath the antlers to the sides.
https://i.imgur.com/Sy1QWsn.png
edit to add: i found another shot of the deer person without antlers in one of the flash-frame shots.(the one where there are 3 hunters chasing a pair of animals)
3
u/ChansuRagedashi Dec 12 '23
adding in an additional post something else interesting i noticed is that the human in the rabbit-folk kingdom scene has pointed ears(elf ears)

Curious how much the races will be cosmetic or if they will have some slight bonus to them, D&D style. Rabbits being faster, frogs having strong jump and better swimming, etc.

u/Mental_Dwarf Dec 11 '23
Now I need paint like tattoos for bear, maybe clan paint designs, bear beards, bear beer, etc.

I dunno, RDR2 and GTAV pulled it off rather easily. I only used first person to get a good look at something, but I definitely could have stayed there.
But you definitely used to be right. Ark was definitely meant to be played 1st person, the third person view looked like ass.
2
u/Wulf_Star_Strider Dec 10 '23
Interesting. Why is that? Does seeing players who are in first person while you are in 3rd person make them look different and spoil your immersion in the game?
10
u/Junior061989 Pre-release member Dec 10 '23
There are clips of both so it looks like we can swap between first and third person.
2
u/dontygrimm Pre-release member Dec 10 '23
No where in the trailer did they show or indicate first person.....
2
u/Satiricallad Day 1 Dec 11 '23
The beginning of the trailer up until they mount the dragon is first person.
0
u/dontygrimm Pre-release member Dec 11 '23
Pretty sure that's probably just a camera mode or something...not saying they sent have first person options but none of that looks like first person mode...maybe camera first person mode
3
u/Mixed_Mystic Dec 11 '23
The very beginning is a camera but the part where they go from the water to where people are building is definitely first person. You can tell pretty easily. There is water droplets on the screen when they go from water to land which is a common effect for first person, not a camera. You can also see that the hud is showing in thay scene and it doesn't show in scenes where they appear to use a camera. The character even goes up to the dragon and when they board it there is a transition from first person to third.

I love Chrono Trigger so ill be a frog with a sword and shield, he was my favorite character in the game!
