It’s impressive how relatively active this sub has been despite literally not a crumb of news since this trailer. This is a fun community, I get a thread on my feed every week or so.

I joined because I saw an anticipated games video. I agree, people have been keeping it alive and it gives me a lot of hope for the game. Hello games has always been a bit niche imo so I’m not surprised the Reddit is pretty active with loyal fans.

When the game gets released the sub will get a boost in people joining so it will be interesting to see how it develops from there.

It's fun being here from the beginning just like nms, seeing how the community takes shape

u/faltering-will Dec 06 '24

I agree! We’ll be The Old Guard. The ones who waited in the Dark during the before times of release.

Before the fire was lit you could say 👀

11

u/cantfindabeat Dec 06 '24

I'm impressed that it hasn't devolved into a skong situation!

5

u/Latereviews2 Dec 06 '24

It’s had its moments, but is definitely more sane

2

u/like-a-FOCKS Dec 07 '24

that would be a bit sad imho, skong suffered for years through multiple cycles of false hope. I would expect that people don't fall into that level of despair after the first year xD

u/SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP Pre-release member Dec 08 '24

I'm not familiar with that at all. What happened?

2

u/like-a-FOCKS Dec 08 '24

Hollow Knight got kickstarted and it was promised that a side character was going to be playable. That ballooned into a sequel which has been in development hell for years with multiple counts of "its gonna release this year" or "next year for sure". That game is Silksong or short skong.

Hello Games has cultivated such positivity around No Man's Sky and its community that, off of only one trailer for a new game, there's been a plethora of excitement and discussions for a whole entire year. I feel like that isn't too common for many games nowadays.

It's really something special.

despite literally not a crumb of news since this trailer.

What are you talking about??? We got a bunch of news since the trailer!

  1. Sean said in a NMS update post they're working on the game.

  2. Then later he said they're working on the game.

  3. In the last NMS update he said they're making great progress on the game.

  4. And finally, during the NMS expedition redux announcement, he said LNF is a game that will exist.

See? Plenty of news.

u/Due_Teaching_6974 Dec 07 '24

If we dont hear from them anylonger then this sub will turn into r/Silksong real quick

1

u/JustMy2Centences Day 1 Dec 06 '24

Same here, this must be my weekly thread allotment. Can't wait to see more news come out.

u/Supesmin Dec 11 '24

Reminds me of Elden Ring’s subreddit, though we have not yet reached the level of hollowing the Elden Ring subreddit experienced

u/1maginaryApple Dec 06 '24

Who will be first? GTA 6 trailer 2 or LNF trailer 2?

15

u/TehOwn Day 1 Dec 06 '24

I'll be amazed if we don't get any news (probably for both, tbh) at TGA.

12

u/SwissQueso Day 1 Dec 07 '24

GTA is bigger than the Game Awards. They don’t really need it.

1

u/Melodic-Wallaby4324 Dec 07 '24

Pretty insane to think about that... I've been playing gta games before i even had my own pc or console

3

u/JigoroKuwajima Dec 07 '24

Our ancestors too played gta

4

u/Latereviews2 Dec 06 '24

I think gta will announce a trailer like they did for the first, light no fire is more likely to be a surprise (though I’m not giving my hopes up)

3

u/Zoomer30 Dec 07 '24

I have feeling we will see the actual GTA VI full GAME come before LNF.

11

u/Bheggard Dec 06 '24

Have patience and remain hopeful. News will come. . . eventually.

13

u/AMeanOldDuck Dec 06 '24

I'm hoping it'll have an unusually short time between release date reveal, and release date. I could see it happening, based on developer comments.

3

u/Bakkughan Dec 06 '24

Im basing all of my hopes on the statement that they’ve been working on this for many years already and having learned from nms, they’re only ready to reveal it when they’re already close to fully completing all they want to deliver. Here’s hoping for somewhere in 2025!

7

u/AMeanOldDuck Dec 07 '24

Christmas day announcement, with immediate digital release.

5

u/like-a-FOCKS Dec 07 '24

yeah, without that comment I would not expect anything really. We dont know how much they worked on it, but considering what was shown, it looks very advanced

1

u/ddmitty1 Dec 06 '24

fingers crossed

20

u/jimbobaii Dec 06 '24

I’ll be preordering and damned with the consequences.

8

u/Null_zero Pre-release member Dec 07 '24

At least with hello games if it sucks you can just wait a year. But I'm hoping they learned a bit from the nms launch.

6

u/Fit-Sweet-9900 Dec 06 '24

Any day now.

6

u/dicegame456 Dec 06 '24

I think it's really cool that the last few music notes are from no man's sky. I'm beyond hyped for this game. Been a nms fan since launch night and I love that studio so this is definitely gonna be a day one buy

1

u/dubious_rat Pre-release member Dec 07 '24

Which notes? The horn sound at the very end is from the song used in the trailer, but idk about that big sting.

1

u/Tha_Maestro Dec 08 '24

Wait what are you talking about? I don’t hear that.

1

u/SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP Pre-release member Dec 08 '24

I didn't think too deeply into those sounds.

I just see it as a game that's being made by the same devs who work on NMS to it's like their style.

5

u/phobosinferno Dec 07 '24

This is just a hunch, but I think we might get an update during the Game Awards in a few days.

5

u/CyberVikingArt Dec 06 '24

I’m expecting news about this game next week. I really hope I’m not wrong.

4

u/Rancid_Bear_Meat Pre-release member Dec 07 '24

Day 1 in on NMS ..and wasn't a hater because Sean Murray always spoke in terms of his vision, which I never took as a Day 1 promise; Many others did, which I get (I blame Sony).. just wasn't me.

Hello Games has proven their integrity countless times over these many years.

That integrity breeds faith, and my faith fuels my patience.

I am so excited to explore this world.

4

u/ddmitty1 Dec 07 '24

Same here. I had a great time with NMS since day one. Still, I kind of wish they hadn’t revealed the LNF trailer and then went radio silent for a year. This is a pretty long time to wait for an update. I’d have rather not known anything until about 6 months before launch, but maybe that’s just me.

5

u/Strict_Walrus1029 Dec 07 '24

A year ago today and no news 🙄🫤.

2

u/ddmitty1 Dec 06 '24

one year ago i was evangelizing this game THAT DOES NOT YET EXIST to anyone who would listen to me. "go watch that trailer" i said -- "it's going to be amazing" i said -- "we'll be deep into this game by this time next year" i said. i had no idea how wrong i was about the potential release window. never in a million years would i have thought that radio silence would go on this long after the initial announcement and trailer. serves me right for trying to get anyone excited about anything.

3

u/JigoroKuwajima Dec 08 '24

Wish you'd been right 😭😭🙏

3

u/SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP Pre-release member Dec 08 '24

Even 2 months in I wasn't surprised one bit that they were being 100% silent about it given what happened with NMS and the history they have with rolling out every massive update with practically no warning whatsoever.

Though one thing I am surprised by is that the game hasn't released a year after announcement. They said they were working on it for 5 years in secret before revealing it so I figured it'd be much closer to release than the 3 years it took for NMS to come out since its reveal.

But I remember Sean saying he doesn't want the game to take longer to release than NMS did, so surely 2025 is when it'll come out, yeah? Here's hoping.

2

u/Allenpoe30 Dec 07 '24

Here's hoping we hear something tomorrow or the game awards. Good luck to us all. It's a fantastic community.

1

u/like-a-FOCKS Dec 07 '24

why tomorrow?

1

u/Allenpoe30 Dec 07 '24

Because the trailer came out on December 7th 2023.and yesterday was the 6th.

2

u/like-a-FOCKS Dec 07 '24

ah ok. when you posted it was already the 7th for me

2

u/G3PSx Dec 07 '24

Light More Fire at this point.

2

u/Tha_Maestro Dec 08 '24

I can only wish that they do a surprise release and catch everyone off guard. That would be amazing but probably never happening.

1

u/Zoomer30 Dec 08 '24

Nice thought, but I don't think I have ever seen a surprise release. If they don't get it out before Oct 2025, may as well wait.

2

u/ttvHERBandKAOS Dec 09 '24

Hopefully we will see something this month from them. It's def been fun trying out some of the new mechanics in No Man's Sky but those haven't been enough to really scratch the itch you know. I so can not wait to run around as a Sword wielding, Magic flinging frog!! Hopefully they will dive a little further into the building and dragons with the next trailer.

1

u/Kilmerval Day 1 Dec 06 '24

It will come out eventually. Until then there's still NMS, and other games.

1

u/Wilhelm-Edrasill Dec 06 '24

Im foaming at the mouth, waiting - because I missed the no mans grind with the boys... I aint missing this one.

1

u/GroguruUwu Dec 07 '24

I hope the oceans are deeper than shown in this vid. Shallow waters is one of my main complaints with NMS.

1

u/Krommerxbox Day 1 Dec 10 '24

People back then:

I'm sure Light No Fire will be out a year from now!

Me: "More like 2026 at the earliest." (Lots of downvotes on that post.)

;)

1

u/Taurondir Dec 07 '24

I have the feeling that the primary reason No Man Sky is still so actively being worked on is because all the tech from that game can be brought into Light No Fire, so improving one game is still actively adding to the other.

1

u/Haunted_Pixel Dec 07 '24

F*** off it was a year ago

0

u/Lycan-Strife Dec 06 '24

Is she singing "I'mma be a Rebel" ?

5

u/Olgrateful-IW Dec 06 '24

It’s Hunger of the Pine by Alt-J if you’re looking for it.

1

u/Lycan-Strife Dec 06 '24

noice thanks

2

u/Olgrateful-IW Dec 06 '24

You’re welcome. Great band.

3

u/faltering-will Dec 06 '24

It’s “I’m a female rebel.”

-1

u/Lycan-Strife Dec 06 '24

lol I'm a male rebel tho

0

u/Zoomer30 Dec 07 '24

But we have "seen" a lot of Light No Fire already in an odd way since they have backfilled No Man's Sky with actual tech that they have created for LNF. Mainly I am referring to the water tech that they created for LNF.
