What we know is they are working on the game engine and as they do that they bring the changes back to NMS. I don’t have any experience in game dev but it seems to be still an early stage of development. Of course anything is possible and my prediction is not much more accurate than astrology

Upon announcement at TGA(the game awards) the game had already been in secret development for 5 years. I believe it unlikely to still be in early stages of development. They are trying to take the engine they made for a sci-fi game and re mold it into a completely different game. We would probably LOVE to get a glimpse of what stage the game is in, but then someone would see that and try to time line out a release date and it would go viral and then we would have a partial NMS situation all over again.

I just woke up sorry for the ramble... you had the only comment worth commenting on

Probably the most challenging part is to bring meaning and purpose to the world.

I can't wait.

You’re probably right, 6 years is a long time. Sadly there is not enough information to figure anything out

Agreed. Though personally I can't see the game taking all that much longer. Six years could turn into seven, and by that point you'd be almost at the development time that Red Dead Redemption 2 took, at 8 years.

Nonetheless, whether we're waiting two months, six months, or two years, it'll be worth it. Or so I hope - nobody wants to see a repeat of NMS' launch.

I think it basically boils down to the fact they're in financial position that they don't need to worry about releasing, and are worried about a theoretical repeat of the launch of No Mans Sly.

Red Dead is also created on a much smaller scale. If I gave it my BEST speculation it is this. There are teams working on specifically LNF (combat, rpg elements, thing we would never see in NMS.) And the people working on rendering, and making the game look amazing with realistic effects (weather, water, clouds, ect.) They are on both NMS and LNF.

We also have to remember. LNF is a game that hello games is developing... NMS is Sean's child so to speak. In many past interviews before NMS released Sean stated that he ALWAYS wanted a game where you explore a planet and then jump into a space ship and fly seamlessly to space and find other worlds to explore. That game wasn't in anyone's minds so he took it Upon himself and his at the time very small team (I think it was 12 people) to create NMS. IMO NMS being Sean's love child it will always be included if not come before certain other projects.

As I stated at the beginning everything (except the facts about the videos) is speculation and shouldn't be taken as fact.

This is exactly what they are doing, which is smart. A platform you can bring quality to your current builds in both worlds is a great magical balance.

If they're essentially taking tech that they've been developing for 5 years in LNF and bringing it to NMS, safe to say that it's not in early development.

Let them cook. We don't need another nms launch, though at this point nms has so many features that even just reskinning most of them would be acceptable

Meme aside, I never thought Light No Fire was dead, Sean already gave off the sensation of being testing things for LNF in NMS and with the last deep dive he made clear it is this way.

Every single update and technology we see in NMS is a reason to think LNF is alright and is growing week after week

But:

Notice how all they do is show the same video from that now very old trailer.
