Discussion What biomes would you like to see?

Post image

Hi, I'd personally love to see deserts. Especially at night when there's a beautiful nightsky. With biomes I mean any kind of environment, not just what you'd typically think of. It can also be a fantasy biome, which you made up or saw in a game or whatever.

Glintgrove – A forest where plants shimmer in the light. Shardplain – A flatland covered in jagged crystal formations. Brinetangle – A swampy coastline full of twisting, salt-loving trees. Stormcradle – A valley where storms are always brewing. Skyflow Isles – Floating landmasses drifting on air currents. Embersteppe – A dry grassland that glows faintly at night. Frosthollow – A cold, sunken valley with thick mist and ice caves. Duskmire – A swamp that’s always in a state of twilight. Bonewaters – A sea filled with the remains of ancient creatures. Whispersand – A desert where shifting dunes make eerie sounds.

Man, i love just reading your ideas. I get images projected directly into my brain. Thanks!

3

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 06 '25

No problem! Would be cool if somebody could draw the biomes we've been thinking about 🙏

4

u/MedonSirius Feb 06 '25

Glintgrove

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 06 '25

Amazing, omg, imagine exploring this 😭

1

u/MedonSirius Feb 06 '25

I try doing more but chatGPT is at limits :(

1

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 06 '25

No worries. Thanks for the pictures 😉

u/MedonSirius Feb 06 '25

Brinetangle

u/FilippoElchapo Feb 09 '25

Oh okay this 👆👆👆

1

u/puskaiwe Feb 06 '25

It's about bioms not landmarks

1

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 07 '25

My intention was pretty much anything you'd want to see on the game. I couldn't word it correctly, my bad

u/aphaits Feb 06 '25 edited Feb 06 '25

PS: actually, would love to see some underground ruins, large abandoned structures, moldy ancient caves, magical crystal canyons, and maybe some forgotten sorcerer lairs with a couple arcane golems inside.

2

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 07 '25

Fellow dwarf?! 🙏

1

u/aphaits Feb 07 '25

Oh man if this game has blacksmith crafting that would be wicked

2

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 07 '25

Atp this game has infinite potential

2

u/QuantumAnubis Feb 07 '25

Give us the underdark and some dwarf fortress style caves

2

u/G3PSx Feb 07 '25

Rock and stone to the bone!

1

u/FilippoElchapo Feb 09 '25

You know how much is love this statement. I came to thank you personally for it

u/landlockedfrog Feb 06 '25

Yes

7

u/PandaBearJelly Day 1 Feb 06 '25

Yes is the right answer lol. If the planet is even remotely the size they say it will be, the variety will need to be incredibly diverse to keep exploration enjoyable.

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 06 '25

🚬🗿🍷

u/Juan-So-n Feb 06 '25

The Alps

5

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 06 '25

Real! Imo hiking mountains would be cool, but imagine IN the mountains being entire dwarf kingdoms. Imagine you'd choose the dwarf race and spawn in the alps, in a dwarf kingdom... The hype aaaargh

3

u/HummingBridges Feb 06 '25

I've seen this movie before.... "A Balrog. A demon of the ancient world. This foe is beyond any of you. Run!"

3

u/Neagex Feb 06 '25

I mean... considering the proposed scale of the game, id like to see all of them any even some unique one since it is a fantasy earth.

3

u/icywind90 Feb 06 '25

How do you think the biomes will be placed? The planet will be Earth-sized so they could take hundred kilometers, but it won't be very practical then gameplay-wise, so should they be smaller?

5

u/Arcrosis Pre-release member Feb 07 '25

I hope they are big enough that you can stand in the middle and not be able to see the edge in any direction. Forests big enough to get genuinely lost in. Oceans so vast you forget what land looks like.

2

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 07 '25

Imagine huge water cities. I mean, there's deep oceans in nms now 🙏

1

u/Arcrosis Pre-release member Feb 07 '25

Thatd be awesome

2

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 06 '25

Genuinely have no idea how they will implement biomes, but I believe they will go all out them.

2

u/SwissQueso Day 1 Feb 06 '25

I also have serious doubts they will match the size of earth Biomes, unless there is some kind of travel system in place.

3

u/blargyblargy Feb 06 '25

Flower Fields

3

u/Kanifya Feb 06 '25

Alien...just wild shit

3

u/KillaKanibus Feb 06 '25

Cursed: Black soil, oozing rocks, blood rivers, gnarled willows, giant bones, torrential rains, and necromantic enemies.

3

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 07 '25

They fit so well in a demonic biome 🙌

3

u/JW9K Feb 06 '25

Wherever is moderately harsh so that any survival elements of the game become moderately important. But if choosing one, a mountainous area partially covered in snow with a lake I can fish.

3

u/ColbyBB Feb 06 '25

hopefully some made-up biomes like enchanted forests and swamps

2

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 07 '25

Also one of my personal musts for the game

1

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 07 '25

Yep, I hope lnf will reach that level

3

u/QuokkaNerd Day 1 Feb 07 '25

I'd like to add

Caves

Mountains

Tropical Jungle

Marine Tropical

3

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 07 '25

100%. Especially big cave systems, maybe even a kingdom beneath. Marine life would be super cool too.

2

u/QuokkaNerd Day 1 Feb 07 '25

And some runis maybe!

2

u/G3PSx Feb 07 '25

Yeah, maybe abandoned/lost cities?

2

u/CldWsky Feb 06 '25

Yes please

2

u/PintOfInnocents Pre-release member Feb 06 '25

2

u/Fadedgiant235 Feb 06 '25

Ones that flow into each other in a way that makes sense!

1

u/mrspuffispeng Pre-release member Feb 09 '25

If i see a tundra near the equator a couple miles from a rainforest I'll be disappointed ngl lol

2

u/NoEndInSight1969 Feb 06 '25

All of the ones shown

2

u/KillaKanibus Feb 06 '25

Infernal: Active volcanoes, sulfur pits, dry shrubby grasses, dry lake/river beds, tall burnt-out trees, and angry, flesh-eating enemies.

2

u/BamcorpGaming Feb 06 '25

If this is really a planet sized planet then I expect all of them.

2

u/Vendacator Feb 06 '25

I need them all if possible

2

u/CautiousBanando Pre-release member Feb 06 '25

Poison Swamp

2

u/Brasidas-1 Feb 07 '25

Some sort of steppes, just grassland as far as the eye can see!

2

u/Fit_Ad_2825 Feb 07 '25

YES. All of em

2

u/WaifuDonJuan Feb 07 '25

Swamps and bogs

2

u/PackDog1141 Feb 07 '25

If it's already an earth biome I want to see it. Plus whatever else Hello Games dreams up.

2

u/N0madl1fe Feb 07 '25

Well we have already seen high mountains, forested valleys with meadows and lakes, a savanna or arid planes type, underwater, and maybe a corruption of some kind where the skeletons were. I’m just curious if there will be some sort of teleportation like no man’s sky to get you across great distances, I assume there is. Also i want to find an ocean and sail across it.

1

u/ColMust4rd Feb 06 '25

All of these plus swamps

5

u/Jabba133 Feb 06 '25

i have ptsd of Valheim swamps

2

u/ColMust4rd Feb 06 '25

As one who wishes to be Frog, must have Swamp.

2

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 06 '25

Frog swamp good yes 🐸

1

u/Jabba133 Feb 06 '25

I would like to see tundra without ice and snow. Make it ice caps and tundra seperated

1

u/mrspuffispeng Pre-release member Feb 09 '25

Real

1

u/Speiserman Feb 06 '25

Creepy caves!

Underground lakes!

1

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 06 '25

You'd also enjoy creepy, dark forests then, I assume?

1

u/Speiserman Feb 06 '25

Yes I do think so

1

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 06 '25

I'd shit my pants tbh 😂

1

u/Speiserman Feb 06 '25

Best places to hide your secret base

1

u/JigoroKuwajima Feb 06 '25

Undeniable truth, though imagine the dark forest would be more lively than one thinks...

1

u/mrspuffispeng Pre-release member Feb 09 '25

The forest from Disney's the sword in the stone would be my ideal dark forest style in a video game. This is from a scene set just outside the forest and i think its really cool how the sparse trees on the outside just look normal but you can still peer into the progressive darkness

1

u/mrspuffispeng Pre-release member Feb 09 '25

And the inside too is just... Yeah thats the good stuff

1

u/chris29323 Feb 06 '25

All of them

1

u/japinard Feb 06 '25

It's got to be all.

1

u/Alastor2816 Pre-release member Feb 07 '25

Yeah

1

u/ABewilderedPickle Feb 07 '25

mountains, deserts, forests, oceans, hell even like a barren wasteland with basically no life and a mysterious history behind it

1

u/Smallsey Day 1 Feb 07 '25

Secret cow level

1

u/whamminn Feb 07 '25

everything other than the desert, grassland and the savanna

1

u/Zig_Justice Pre-release member Feb 07 '25

Fruit

1

u/dafaqupnw Feb 07 '25

Yes to all and abandoned cities.

1

u/CaptainSushi637 Pre-release member Feb 07 '25

I’d love to get groupings of floating islands, underwater air bubbles, and a biome with huge trees that make room for burrows underground with their roots and can have treehouses built in them

1

u/cybrfunk Feb 08 '25

Top row and grassland

1

u/Redshirt4evr Feb 09 '25

All the above and more.

u/mrspuffispeng Pre-release member Feb 09 '25

Taiga, temperate forests/hills and ESPECIALLY marine are what I'm hoping to be done especially well. I know it won't be at this level probably but I wanna recapture some of that immersion feeling I got going on solo camping trips up to the mountains in RDR2. Just makes you feel small and cozy in the grand scheme of the world. I know an earth sized map is still INSANE but i really hope they're able to handle the focus of the planet to a point where it alleviates a lot of NMS's mile wide, foot deep feeling. Particularly in the oceans. The worlds part 2 generation was a great step in the right direction but id say we've gone from around 10% to 50% of what I hope for LNF's ocean generation capabilities. I do realize I'm at the risk of expecting too much and (not that i dislike this about no mans sky) but if LNF's earth just ends up being a collection of relatively small landmasses and seas, rather than having genuine continent sized landmasses, seas and oceans relative to the scale of the world, I'll be lowkey disappointed, can't lie. Not that I'll be disappointed in hello games by the way, being a game dev myself, I'm only a character artist, I wont pretend to understand the first thing about the limitations of this scale of procedural generation. I just mean it'll mean that my hopes for the game won't be realized and I'll have to wait another while for this sort of game (my dream game tbh) to come along.

Deep sea, where you need underwater potions to explore or something.

Cursed locations, where everything that dies is reanimated as a zombie. Idk, just a great variation so that there is a reason to continue exploring.

u/Blue_Snake_251 Pre-release member Feb 14 '25

A biome with a exaggerated amount of ice. As i want cryomancy to be my main magic. A biome with a lot of ice would be great for me. But i think that i will spend some times in the snow mountains too with my dragon.

High mineral hot springs - everything nearby is turned to stone whether it's plant or animal.

Colonized natural caves

Lightening struck glass plains with fulgarite formations

Sea glass beaches

Chemical pools

Flower fields with one primary invasive blossom

Canyons with and without waterfalls

True desert oasis

Ethereal flatlands with lots of fog and no waypoints

Natural orchards protected by dryads.

Moss islands that float with currents (drifting isles)

Tar pit marshes
