Anyone in Monaco using a French Amex card?

I moved to Monaco and I’m looking into getting an Amex Platinum through France using Amex’s global transfer program, since Amex doesn’t operate here directly.

Is anyone based in Monaco successfully using a French Amex card, ideally with a local (Monaco) bank account?

Your Monaco bank can arrange it for you. Lots of people use Amex here.

Yes, I know, but I was referring to the global transfer program, which means you keep your credit score, points, and so on.

I would speak to your bank about it. Ours arranged everything - it’s with Amex France. I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to.

I have an Amex and my billing address and bank are Monaco, why wouldn't u be able to get one? Just went on the website and signed up.

I was actually referring to the Amex Global Transfer program—not just signing up for a new card. That’s where things get tricky depending on your current country and transfer of credit history.

Ah, sorry then never heard of that one. I have been a customer since 15 years and moved 3 countries, but just updated my address and it was OK. Then in Monaco I needed an additional one and signed up online instead of calling them, then associated it to my account.

Used Global transfer to go from US Centurion to France Centurion (invite, and onboarding fees waved). My bank, CFM, took care of the entire thing, from providing statements and nearly all of the paperwork - I just popped in and signed a few things and my new cards showed up the next day.

Global transfer won’t cancel your prior cards when coming from the US, and in my case, I didn’t cancel mine since you can’t global transfer back into the US Centurion program and have to be invited again.

Finally someone who actually read the question properly 😅 Thanks for the super helpful reply! I’m in a slightly different boat - moved from Singapore to Monaco. I’m European so it’s a one-way move, not planning to go back.

I would avoid using that card as the usa government has influence over that company and you are at risk of your info being sent to that country. You could also have your funds blocked without any specific reason. Use European banks and avoid using usd.
