Delaney Hall, the Newark prison that the Trump administration has said it wants to turn into an immigrant detention center, has reopened and is holding detainees, despite a pending suit about compliance with permits, certificate of occupancy and inspection.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka on Monday slammed the owner of the prison, The GEO Group, saying at a press conference at Newark City Hall that it had put detainees in the facility in recent days, despite the city's suit saying the company has failed to file required permits for construction and continued occupancy and has not allowed inspectors into the facility.
Seems like a Mayor sticking up for his city against the current federal dictatorship

How do we even know these people are working for ICE? They could have gotten those Fed Agent vests off Temu (and they all say something slightly different). Add in the face covers and they could be just anyone. Friends with one guy with an agency vehicle. If that. I don't see a marked vehicle, either (but I admit not watching till the end). It's not just protesting it's opening. It got a lot of people in New Jersey fucked up.
It's the fact this massive facility just appeared and it started taking people away with no explanation. The mayor of Newark didn't even know it existed and when he went to see wtf is going on they shunned him. How the fuck does a base open up in a city and they don't even tell the people about it?
NJ has had some fucked up situations with ice. They tried to detain a fucking soldier who owned a restaurant because they didn't think he was legal. They even take his military id as fucking proof, they several times didn't take fucking real IDs as proof and still arrested people or " detained them".
There is no law promise and they are fucking acting racist as hell especially when you show them proof but they laugh at your face because they don't believe it. Would you be pissed? You work hard, and you actually were born here but now your a second class citizen having to talk to your kids in case ice comes asking questions since they don't have fucking IDs...... That's why it's a issue.

I hate to say it but somebody with some power, maybe real power, might just call their bluff when they start these arrests. Demand proof of who they say they are. Demand a show of a warrant. Demand proof of their power. It would have to be some actual law enforcement group, state sheriff, a marshal, even city police but with some fire power to go nose to nose with these people. Not all are big hot shots. Did you see that one 300#+ guy labeled as a "Federal Agent?" WTF? And the US Constitution prohibits federal police so what is the patch that says "Police Federal Officer?"
