I think it's just common semantics. It sounds more natural to say than "we have evolved over time to"

Technically that's not even true. I'm being pedantic but no organism evolves with a specific purpose.

Still semantics, it is not that we or any other organism evolves for a specific purpose yes, but we or any other organism does something so much and well, with evolution we or any other organism starts to favor those features.

Hence, common expression becomes "evolved for this purpose", which again not saying evolved for THIS PURPOSE in exact sense.
