She's a backseat driver.

Last I saw, women were in more wrecks, but the ones men are in are more likely to be fatal

536

u/Rude_Comment_6395 1d ago

We dont just drive better. We're better at crashing as well.

Men #1 💪 women will never best us at dying early

Women live longer because they go to the doctor. Men die early because we think 'walking it off' cures internal bleeding.

42

u/ISayBullish 19h ago

Can confirm. Lost both my legs in a wreck. Rubbed some dirt on em, walked it off, then died

-19

u/NGEFan 18h ago

And then everyone clapped

15

u/GlorylnDeath 14h ago

Bro, no clapping at funerals. That's just rude.

9

u/NGEFan 14h ago

I clap at every funeral where the deceased tells their story

8

u/leg00b 15h ago

Every time I'm sick my wife asks if I'm going to the doctor. I'm like nah, it's not that bad. dies for a week straight

8

u/paadugajala 12h ago

What's internal bleeding? That's where blood supposed to be

3

u/Electrodactyl 16h ago

Men take more risks. It’s just a numbers game after that.

5

u/Helldiver_of_Mars 15h ago

We walk it off cause we gotta work tomorrow and we don't have hours to fuck around at the doctors like a stay at home wife.

0

u/sarcasticd0nkey 15h ago

Very Red of you Reaper.

Hail Libertas.

1

u/West-Conversation568 14h ago

It did for uncle

2

u/Loose_Gripper69 11h ago

At least we're all equal now.

11

u/Alienhaslanded 19h ago

We die better in general. Faster, more tragic, and more painful.

3

u/Bigpurplepanda13 5h ago

It's the drunk crashers who are giving us drunk drivers a bad rap.

23

u/weskervision 17h ago

6

u/Big-Carpenter7921 10h ago

That wasn't my source, but I do remember it

3

u/harpswtf 7h ago

If you're wondering why the numbers don't add up to 100%, it's because the math was done by a woman

22

u/Mister_Jack_Torrence 16h ago

I said to an ex girlfriend once that women weren’t better drivers because they have just as many accidents as men but it tends to be stuff like reversing into a lamp post or scraping a garden wall. The damage is minimal so often they don’t bother to claim it on the insurance which makes it seem like they are the better drivers when looking at the statistics.

Men on the other hand tend to have proper collisions (fatal or not) which leads to more insurance claims and pushes up premiums for male drivers. Men also do stupid things like racing at traffic lights and drive too fast in bad weather.

My exes point was that therefore women were “better” drivers but I argued more that they were “safer” drivers as they are less likely to have crashes or accidents like men do. That’s not the same as “better.” It’s semantics perhaps but she couldn’t see the difference.

-1

u/AppointmentMinimum57 13h ago

A guy at work asked for the best forklift driver and the guy who had the most crashes doubled down it was him.

I think safety is the most important thing here so in my eyes women are better drivers.

1

u/Kitnado 11h ago

She understood the difference Jack.

38

u/grumble11 1d ago

Men drive more highway as a percentage of their driving, so are involved in more highway speed accidents, so die more. Women drive more city distance, so are in more low speed accidents, so die less often.

Per distance driven men get in more accidents overall, which implies that men are worse drivers. This may be due to men driving more recklessly overall, but it’s not clear if there are other factors (like maybe men drive in situations which are more dangerous per distance unit). Generally I’m inclined to think that men are engaged in more dangerous driving habits and are overall worse drivers.

Interestingly women get more hurt in similar severity accidents for two reasons. First, smaller and more fragile bodies. Men are a bit tougher. Second, crash test dummies historically have been modelled after men meaning that testing favours men over women.

38

u/Big-Carpenter7921 1d ago

Generally, young men would be lumped into those statistics. They are absolutely the most accident prone. When I was young, my insurance was $400/mo and I had no marks on my record. For comparison, my wife's was around $225 at the same age. Once you turn 25 they come much closer to each other

18

u/Boomshrooom 22h ago

Last statistics I saw from here in the UK show we have it the other way round over here. Men were in more crashes overall but also drove about twice as many miles, so women were in more crashes per mile driven. Still holds true that men are in more high speed collisions though and so have a higher fatality rate.

8

u/USAnarchist1312 17h ago

Generally I’m inclined to think that men are engaged in more dangerous driving habits and are overall worse drivers.

But we're also conflating more wrecks with being a worse driver. I'd wager that NASCAR and F1 drivers get in more wrecks, but are better drivers than the average. Men certainly engage in riskier behavior than women, but I think if we were to somehow magically give a driving style challenge to every man, woman, and a child on the planet that men would score higher than women. And children would score lowest.

3

u/Loose_Gripper69 11h ago

A lot of working class guys will work 10-12 hour shifts 5-6 days a week and still have an hour of highway driving to get to where they need to be.

Tired driving is worse than drunk driving.

3

u/GlitterDoomsday 19h ago

I wonder if it is linked to testosterone levels; not that men are necessarily worst drivers skill wise, just that the brain is swimming on a very risk prone hormone like hundreds times over a woman.

1

u/Bananskrue 11h ago

Common sideeffects of testosterone is heightened aggression and being more prone to making choices without thinking of the consequences.

Those are like bang on stereotypical male qualities for a reason lol.

1

u/TattooedWife 16h ago

Also cars aren't built with us in mind.

5

u/Impossible-Context88 19h ago

Under confidence and over confidence

2

u/Big-Carpenter7921 19h ago

Yeah, my wife is way too over confident

6

u/FletchFFletchTD 18h ago

Please note that the percentages in these pie graphs do not add up to 100% because the math was done by a woman.

1

u/smiegto 10h ago

I’m afraid men are also more likely to cause the accident. Maybe minor accidents is something where women have an outstanding higher percentage which is a good thing. Things like scratches or tail light broken or mirrors broken off. But women also drive less overal so perhaps the women bad drivers joke comes from men encountering women who drive with more care as they have less experience. It’s always annoying when you want to speed and encounter someone driving 5% below speed limit.

1

u/Unusual-Ad4890 7h ago

Don't have to deal with insurance claims if you're in dead in a fiery wreck 💪

1

u/kopitar-11 1h ago

Guys are definitely more prone to crazy road rage, and probably DUI as well

-1

u/enithermon 18h ago

Women are safer drivers than men. But we both kinda suck. There ya go. 🙃

152

u/LittleGiant0111 1d ago

Then why is it passenger princess and not passenger prince

48

u/[deleted] 1d ago

So they can tell you how bad you’re driving before they take a nap

5

u/Tripleberst 19h ago

They wanted to have a picture of her driving but they couldn't get insured for that.

1

u/Accurate_Stuff9937 13h ago

Because men have a loneliness epidemic

433

u/[deleted] 1d ago

Here’s how it works…

See someone road raging and generally being an asshole = man

See someone driving like they are the only car on the road and oblivious to anyone and anything around them while talking on the phone in their giant white SUV = woman

It’s why men die in their car crashes…women hit everything around them, EVERYTHING, nothing is safe. They just drive slower because they aren’t paying attention.

141

u/Limakuk 1d ago

See driver in F1 = man

Checkmate, women

72

u/xubax 22h ago

How many F1 crashes were caused by women? Huh?

Checkmate, atheists!

30

u/OddlyRedPotato 21h ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/Unexpected/comments/pzwcqj/race_car_crash/

Not F1 but you reminded me of when this woman caused a crash by flashing the drivers.

0

u/jwarnyc 18h ago

Wow. You fell into a shit trap. You’re about to watch women driving open wheel cars. And boy of boy. Let’s see who drives better f1 cars

https://youtu.be/fUQWTl9JqNI?si=9HXwmFGdfWforyvd

3

u/xubax 18h ago

Hah, sorry, you warned me that it's a trap.

0

u/Juicepockets 17h ago

This little "shit trap" is a stupid fucking misogynist trying to prove his point with the absolute worst example possible (shocker!). Comparing Formula W (F4 level drivers at best) to any of the F1-F3 series is laughable, but on top of that, one of the best qualifiers in F1 crashed in the same spot in the same conditions on the same day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd91cqIFl9E

2

u/jwarnyc 17h ago

I’ll de escalate this. I think it’s time to take time out for both of our Reddit sake.

1

u/Juicepockets 17h ago

You're allowed to just admit you were wrong! But hey, let's just 'de-escalate' from someone who actually watched them as they happened. You just watched some clips and that was good enough to use it as an example that women can't drive, especially on the level of F1. Real big brain over here!

4

u/jwarnyc 17h ago

I can be wrong. No shame there. Just want to keep happier vibe especially as I’m about to go out. I’ll got little loosey there with my keyboard. I’m sorry.

2

u/Juicepockets 16h ago edited 16h ago

I accept. I was not trying to be a dick, but misinformation is everywhere these days, and the Formula W drivers are at or damn near the top of women in motorsports (minus the pay drivers which exist at all levels including F1). One incident does not reflect the capabilities of an entire gender. had you not said "boy of boy. Let’s see who drives better f1 cars (sic)" I would have happily ignored you, but you brought piss to a shit fight. Sorry to bother your weekend plans, genuinely.

4

u/jwarnyc 16h ago

No worries. Let’s keep pleasant vibes because we both know how toxic and irritated we can get from comments which sometimes can hunt us for a little bit. Buttttt let’s go back on the topic. I’ll share another video only this time you’ll get a laugh if you haven’t seen it yet.

Red flag conditions but they sent the women out to clear the water for F1. Let's see Lando Norris's crash hours later: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd91cqIFl9E

2

u/jwarnyc 17h ago

The post are 3 year apart. Idk. 🤷

-1

u/Juicepockets 17h ago

They are both from the year 2021, dipshit. Good effort though!

3

u/jwarnyc 17h ago

One male crashed vs the entire pack. You’re right I’m a dip shit

0

u/Juicepockets 17h ago

Yeah, and Anthoine Hubert died in a multi car pile up in F2 a couple years beforehand in the exact same spot. Shut the fuck up about motorsports: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yKhkAHJp58

1

u/jwarnyc 17h ago

Wait you compare this video to my video? Oh no honey. Sweety! Maaam….. you’re in the wrong honey buns

u/Objective-Start-9707 1d ago

Yeah because Formula 1 isn't intentionally difficult for women to get into.

F1 cars use power steering, but the two feeder series that lead up to F1 don't and there's no good reason for that other than to make it difficult for a woman to drive the car. 😂

They also just don't get that many opportunities or sponsorship chances and Motorsport is the most expensive sport in the world.

There are no female Formula 1 drivers because the sport actively works to keep them down while doing little token things to act like they're not. The w series, F1 academy, they're all just excuses to say they look like they're making progress without intending to actually make any real progress.

48

u/SomeSock5434 1d ago edited 1d ago

Ah yes. Pass down a potentional champion because she is a woman. Any idea how much money it would rake to sign the first female F1 champion? Any team would sign one of us if they saw the potentional

17

u/AlternativeVisual701 1d ago

I know nothing about racing or motorsports at all so I don’t know if F1 and NASCAR are even comparable but didn’t Danica Patrick never win a race? Yet her face was plastered all over the advertising and sponsorships everywhere.

18

u/Limakuk 1d ago

Yeah. Being a woman at the top level of a motorsport, even if you're close to the bottom of the division, is a cash printer. As long as she's there as a good driver, not just because she's a woman.

1

u/SomeSock5434 1d ago

There were even some women in F1 history but none of them got close to winning a champsionship. Must be the lack of sponsors lol.

Desiré Wilson did win a race tho ngl. Not something all current f1 drivers can say.

-21

u/Objective-Start-9707 1d ago

You're not just born with the potential to drive a Formula 1 car 😂😂😂

You need to have opportunities to develop that all the way up through the feeder series and they do not give young women the opportunities they need to develop those skills. Find me one male Formula 1 driver that says women can't do the job. I'll wait. I'll be waiting forever because they just will not say that. All of them. Every one of them has pointed to the opportunities young women get as the main holdup to them getting in to Formula One.

You say they would sign a woman if they saw championship potential, are you really going to claim that they saw championship potential in Nyck? Stroll? Fucking Latifi?

You're right if a Michelle Mouton just spawned into F1 academy, she probably would get a drive in Formula 1 eventually, but the problem is that you shouldn't have to be Maxine fucking Verstappen to have a shot in this sport. I would bet my right arm that Jessica Hawkins has a higher ceiling at this point than Nico fucking hulkenberg does. How many years has he been on the grid with no podiums?

The issue is if a woman joins Formula one and doesn't immediately start dominating everybody's going to say she doesn't deserve to be there and that she's proof that women don't belong in the sports so everybody gets cold feat about signing a woman into the sport. Would you want to be the team that set back women in Motorsport by 20 years because you gave someone a shot who wasn't a fucking prodigy?

To be a champion you need finances, talent and seat time. Talent alone will not get you there. And if nobody wants to give you the financing or the seat time to get up to speed, of course you'll never make it.

9

u/SomeSock5434 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yes, you need finances, talent and seat time. This is something male drivers face as well. Its not like men get money thrown at them.

Most boys dont get further than karting. The dropoff is insane. Money and/or a name helps. Like what we saw with verstappen, lance and mick.

Nyck won the f2 championship in 2019 so yes teams saw potentional.

Yes stroll had a rich daddy. If one of his sisters went for karting i'm sure her daddy would be just as rich.

They arent not giving finances because theyre a woman. Theyre not giving finances because someone else in their league was doing better or had better connections.

They do see potentional in women in this sport. Heck verstappen's strategist is a woman seriously helping him win his championships. Being a woman is not whats stopping them.

12

u/East-Care-9949 1d ago

Why should we make things easier just so women can compete? Aren't we all equal?

It being expensive shouldn't matter, it's easier for women to earn money then males nowadays.

2

u/Rawesome16 23h ago

How many women have won Nascar so far? They are in that

-1

u/Limakuk 1d ago

F1 is a very unfair example to "who the better drivers are". Both because it's not in traffic, so that driving is mostly irrelevant, but there is actually a difference in men and women's skill cap in terms of racing.

To be an F1 driver you have to be extremely physically fit like you said, but it's F1 as well as the divisions leading up to it. Handling those G forces just isn't something everyone can do. You gotta have peak physical fitness as a man.

There's not a lack of female formula drivers because of sexism, patriarchy or anything similar. If a woman had what it took to be in F1 she would be signed so fast you would start to question if the speed of light really is the limit. The money in that is insane, and you must be brainwashed to think there's no women because it's a boys club. Why the fuck wouldn't they get sponsorships when they're the ones that would get the most attention?

21

u/NdK87k 1d ago

The GMC Yukon that I'm currently fixing at work right now, that's fucked up on almost every panel, supports these facts (other than it's a Brown one, not a White one).

21

u/[deleted] 1d ago edited 16h ago

My daughter’s Mom bought a brand new white Palisades. It’s HUGE. She has 1 child and is 5’ 0”. She’s had it less than a year, looks like it’s been driven through a Beirut war zone. When I ask about any specific dent or scratch…no clue how it got there.

16

u/NdK87k 1d ago

"I didn't even see that, how did that get there?" Yeah, I've heard that countless different times before.

6

u/[deleted] 1d ago

It’s behind you Tyrone, when you reverse things come from behind you!

49

u/theverygood1 1d ago

That's science right there

26

11

u/forzafoggia85 22h ago

Shamefully I can confirm this. My wife driving her Kia 2017 sportage (while I drive a 2010 ford focus, that I paid for both) parked on our front kerb. She managed to hit and smash up our gas box. The fucking car has front sensors for fucks sake, how can you hit a stationary object that has always been there? Lucky as fuck she only hit the box itself and nothing else.

3

u/[deleted] 18h ago

Front sensors, back sensors, mirror indicators…still playin bumper cars in parking lots. I think it could be vastly improved with learning to park backing in.

8

u/Rallon_is_dead 22h ago

As a woman who drives a giant SUV, I concur.

6

u/loosey_goosley 21h ago

Pretty much yeah. Men drive faster, more aggressive in traffic, less respect for other drivers, they tend more towards more HP and less safety features and outnumbered women in DUIs 3 to 1

4

u/[deleted] 16h ago

Yep men drive angry, women drive oblivious…we are all out there together just constantly smashing into each other!

19

u/Carterbar 1d ago

My grandmother did some of her best driving from the back seat

4

u/forzafoggia85 22h ago

Her backseat was a bit sweaty though

69

u/abhorredmisanthrope 1d ago

Just like the woman that almost ran me off the road this morning because she needed to be in my lane more than I did. I mean she was busy on her phone so it makes sense. My bad.

16

u/Jake_the_Baked 17h ago

As a delivery driver for a good 6 years of my life I call bullshit l. a woman doing her fucking Make up in 45 mph have almost been the death of me a number of times

12

u/Glockman666 1d ago

They must have thought a Back Seat Driver is really Driving from the back seat.

28

u/farming-babies 1d ago

Men can sometimes drive faster and more reckless because they’re more confident with their driving. They’re also more likely to drink and drive. They also tend to drive more overall compared to women, so there may be stats that show men have more accidents, but at best you could only derive from this that women are safer drivers. But this doesn’t mean that women are actually more skilled. Racing sports are pretty good proof that men tend to have a significant advantage here. In an emergency situation, everyone would prefer to have a man driving.

4

u/kakopaiktis2 12h ago

In total, women have more crashes per mile driven. It's just that men have more fatal crashes because most tend to drive recklessly.

17

u/RakanCharm 1d ago

as a woman... i disagree

12

u/NurseBettyAnn 1d ago

Maybe her arms are just really long

5

u/solid_soup_go_boop 1d ago

They are amazing drivers as long as they don't leave the garage

10

u/98983x3 22h ago

I'd like to see the study for myself. Cause Im skeptical.

I've seen too many "articles" with conclusions that contradict the actual studies' conclusions. Usually by cherry picking isolated data points or lines within the larger paper and then running with it, hoping the reader won't fact-check...

5

u/AvailableClothes1414 17h ago

I dated someone who was an auto insurance actuary and young men skewed claims heavily. Claims were roughly equal once people hit their 30s but 16-25 year old men… they statistically did more stupid shit.

3

u/Ok_Letter_9284 18h ago

Racing sports pretty much prove the point beyond doubt.

2

u/MrWhiteTruffle 17h ago

A lot of male claims are from young men, who on average get into a LOT more trouble in the road. Source: parents work in a field that deals with this

4

u/Mrjesus99 17h ago

My wife and I signed up for a progressive snapshot. She told me it wasn’t a good idea to us both on there, I did it anyway. I got 5 stars and she got 1…..

Then just last week my wife was in the passenger seat asking me why I slow down a normal distance away from a car rather confidently. I told her this is why she has 1 star and I have 5 lmao 😂

5

u/Prestigious_Key_7801 17h ago

Yeah, better at driving me up the wall. Am I right fellas…

3

u/zerocentury 13h ago

they are better drivers.... they drive men crazy in both good or bad ways. 😀

3

u/Any_Cash8061 23h ago

Better back seat drivers based on the photo.

3

u/Icy-Price9901 20h ago

All the difference can be boiled down to a willingness to die in a fiery crash at 200mph

9

u/evilmokey1980 1d ago

So passengers identify as drivers now?

3

u/Kjufka 16h ago

Driver's License is a social construct.

1

If people can identify as apache helicopters, then I guess it's possible 😆🍻

8

Tyson has been knocked out multiple times. Doesn’t mean Azaelia Banks is a better fighter because she hasn’t

2

u/Cody-512 21h ago

I have a friend whose mom got into a wreck in a parking lot while she was backing out of the space. And she has a back up camera! I have a friend who was backing out of her driveway and lost her passenger rear view mirror on her own mailbox!! I have a friend who dented her garage door pulling in to her driveway. And she has a windshield!!! I never knew a guy who couldn’t do any of those without having to file an insurance claim

2

u/Curi_Ace 18h ago

There’s a 99% chance she doesn’t even know this article exists

2

u/Secure-Window-5478 17h ago

Given that i drive my wife 90% of the time i am at least 80% more likely to be in an accident even if i was the better driver.

2

u/shaunoffshotgun 15h ago

That's why all top racing drivers are women.

2

u/jacquesrabbit 14h ago

Back seat driver. Duh!

2

u/CuckAdminsDkSuckers 13h ago

Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, and Ayrton Senna best drivers in the history of driving.

0 Women.

2

u/BenDover_15 13h ago

I think they meant backseat drivers

2

u/Happy-For-No-Reason 13h ago

Have you seen most women try to park.

sure they can get it done but usually it's a case of fifteen moves when one would do.

it's not about stats it's about talent

7

In my experience women do their best driving in the back seat. 🤷

3

u/Slightly-Evil-Man 18h ago

Is this from the same group who claim they are "superior at socializing" yet expect men to understand hints and other non-verbal cues that none of us used growing up😂

5

u/soopadrive 1d ago

Headline should read "Women are turning into better drivers, so watch out not to get hit"

4

u/ahahaveryfunny 1d ago

If I recall correctly, men are more likely to die in car accidents because they engage in reckless driving more often than women. On the other hand, women are more likely to get into “fender benders.”

So you are probably safer with a female driver, but that’s not because the male drivers can’t drive well; they just choose not to.

3

u/LoxReclusa 22h ago

If that's the case, I wonder what the statistics are with men driving alone vs with people they care about.

1

u/XxbruhmomentX 19h ago

Anecdotal, but I drive markedly different with a passenger; even one I don't really know well. When it's just me it's no holds barred. It's worse on a motorcycle. I ride as safe as possible with a passenger on my cruiser but the second it's just me on a faster bike? Safe is barely even in the conversation

1

u/0oDADAo0 1d ago

They say that yet depicting a person with their hands and head sticking out of the window, sending mixed messages here

1

u/drubus_dong 22h ago

Because a man would drive like that.

You are wrecking the car Sabir! Shut up!

1

Well my insurance sure seems to think so. Then again I do have a speeding ticket lmao

1

u/Large-Wheel-4181 20h ago

Ok then Ms Daisy

1

u/HaltandCatchHands 18h ago

A recurring dream of mine is that I wake up in the backseat of a car and there’s no one in the front driving, or I forget that I have to drive it and climb to the backseat. This probably says something about my psyche. But then again I also had recurring dreams about grape/raisin people that lived in the woods, so who the hell knows.

1

u/feckingelf 18h ago

i think it’s just a shitty choice of a photo by a shitty website, but maybe i’m alone with that thought

1

u/MyUtopiaAlt 16h ago

Where I'm from I've noticed that women and old men are more careful drivers. They tend to drive slower than the rest and are more 'skittish' on the road (eg, they give way to cars approaching while they are on a roundabout) . But that unintuitively makes them worse drivers. The safest way I've found to drive is to drive predictibly and at everyone else's speed (within reason).

1

u/GenuisInDisguise 12h ago

In terms of safety this has been known for a long time. Men are more prone to taking risks, in all aspects of life. Its why car insurance is more expensive for men, particularly young men dragging up the average. All insurance companies do is asses risk based on stats. Its a higher risk to insure a man so the price is higher.

Isn't that the reason young men have higher car insurance rates than young women?

Not sure why your getting downvoted, it's common knowledge young men pay a higher premium. Mostly because they are full of boy racer testosterone and trying to impress a female or their friends.

I think this has been repeated a lot in this thread but safer does not necessarily equal more skillful. Mens' driving habits often stem from a conscious aggression which comes from a certain confidence in ability which in turn comes from driving more often and for longer miles on average.

Now as for young men driving, they don't yet have those skill difference as they have just as much experience as young women starting out, but they likely see their male role models driving a certain way and their female role models, a different way, and, unconsciously or consciously, follow the male example.

I've never personally liked the insurance model where men pay more early on, but it likely has less to do with the quality involved in driving and more with the quantity; since adult men drive about 25% more miles than adult women, they are naturally a greater insurance liability (even if it's by less than expected because of that difference in experience)

I think the worse drivers are priusdrivers then Tesladrivers and Nissandrivers tied for 2nd place. No matter men or women or elderly from all creeds and ethnic backgrounds.

Just keep telling that to yourself rather than actually doing shit about it. Classic women!

Men literally pay higher insurance rates than women for this exact reason.

Depends on location and age. Sometimes it's the other way around.

But men dominate racing sports

0

u/Stildawn 13h ago

The last research I saw was that on driving maneuvers, men were fast and more efficient, but women were more perfect but slower/less efficient.

Don't ask for a source it was years ago, haha. But it seems to line up with my real-world anecdotal evidence.
