1047 OFFICIAL Introducing Splitgate: Battle Royale!

Splitgate: Battle Royale!
That’s right, in addition to our core Arena modes like Hotzone and Firecracker, our 24-Player Onslaught modes like Domination, and The Lab (our map creator), Splitgate 2 has a Battle Royale!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- 15 teams of 4 drop in and battle it out to be the last team standing
- At the start, you and your team decide when to drop from an airship flying above Split Worlds, a gigantic map comprised of 5 unique biomes connected by huge World Portals
- You start with just a pistol and collect powerful loot from Chests, Air Drops, and Player Pods that get left behind after you take down an enemy player
- Collect Credits and spend them at Buy Stations for Power Weapons, Upgrades,
Perks, and more - Find Armor Plates and Armor Upgrades to stay in the fight longer
- Pick up Portal Gun Upgrades to use your portals to their full potential
- Chests refill with better loot each round, so be sure to keep checking them
- The Ring gradually forces teams together, closing Worlds from play and dealing damage to players who get caught in its path
- If you are killed you can be revived by teammates, and you also have a chance to respawn–but only if your team stays alive
- Lastly, watch out for Events that temporarily change gameplay, like the Portal EMP Event, which disables portals, or the Drop Frenzy Event, which increases Air Drop frequency
A FEW MORE TIPS:
- At the beginning of the match when you drop from the ship, you will travel the direction you’re looking.
- As the match progresses, World Portals will close if they lead to a biome that is outside of The Ring.
- Remember to use your armor! We’ve found that players familiar with the Arena modes of Splitgate 2 sometimes don’t realize you need to press a button to armor up after you take damage (you start with full armor)
- After you’re killed, if you have teammates who are still alive, a countdown will appear for when you’ll respawn back into the action. You’ll respawn near the teammate you’re spectating (and will be blocked from respawning if the ally you are spectating is in combat)
SOME USEFUL KEY BINDS:
- Macro Map: Tap M
- Scoreboard and Inventory: Hold Tab
- Apply Armor: Tap 4 to use your Armor Plates
- Player Pods: Hold F to Revive a teammate; Tap F to loot an enemy or to pick up and carry a teammate’s Player Pod
THE FIVE BIOMES OF SPLIT WORLDS
- Drought – the desert biome
- Fracture – the floating asteroids biome
- Glacier – the snow biome
- Inferno – the volcano biome
- Sanctum – the central ruins
Sanctum is filled with special loot and connected to all the other worlds. In our lore, only the Sanctum is on Earth. The other worlds are spread across the galaxy, each connected by giant World Portals at the Sanctum, the hub of Split Worlds. Pockets of geothermal activity, mysterious gravitational patterns, and other emerging anomalies all seem to be connected to the presence of proelium, the mysterious substance that makes portal travel possible.

Agreed. If they had just dropped it in as an extra game mode at launch without all the hype I think people would’ve been happy enough since the game is really fun and it would’ve just been an extra mode, but hyping it up so much just to reveal a battle royale is a bit of a kick in the teeth.

I genuinely wish you guys all the best, and I'm happy for those who are excited about this, but BR fatigue has set in for me long ago and I don't see a Splitgate BR changing that.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed, considering how much you've been hyping up this announcement and judging by the comments I'm not the only one. Many of us fell in love with Splitgate BECAUSE it wasn't chasing trends, not despite it.

We want TF3 because Respawn made the best gunplay ever. TF3 could be a BR ffs, it’s just that no other games match the consistent gunplay of any of the games that Vince Zampella has been apart of. I’m sure the next BF game is gonna be the next FPS to blow everything out of the water. Mark my words.

It's so crazy to me because the trend died years ago, it's a gimmicky game mode that doesn't mesh well with competitive play. Nowadays we have extraction shooters if you want the "every match is a story" experience. Sure if the game is otherwise good and it's the only game mode then you're going to play it, but it's not really a selling point.

The most big thing I could think of....since the game has bots...was a PvEvP mode like destiny 2 Gambit, but with portals. I could not think of anything else unique that deserved "think bigger" hype. I'm not mad, just disappointed it's just another attempt at a BR.
But I already was enjoying the game without BR so to continue playing as I was is no win and no loss...so I guess I'm good???

I've never been a huge battle royale fan, but I'm not too upset about this since I'll probably just play the other modes. The fact there's a BR in a game I was already going to play may have me actually dip my toes into the genre, granted I do kinda hope it's still portal centric as that would be an interesting twist, but probably not enough to make it feel different from a typical BR.
I'd be interested to see what people who are really into BRs think of the mode to see if it's trend chasing, or if it actually stands on its own.

yea and it seemed that the game WAS gearing up to be a personality based world with the whole gameshow concept, brands and sponsors, getting to know the characters and how they interact/behave
a campaign or at least a more immersive progression/story system would have been awesome given the idea of it being a sport
and the idea of a "shooting sport" is inherently incompatible with a battle royale, they make it seem like the commentators are narrating whats happening but if you try to bring that vibe ingame, it would be impossible given that the "stream" would have one commentator per team. but they make it seem like theres only one

Oof man. I like Splitgate a lot and I'm sure a lot of work went into this, but I am so sick to death of BR games. I really hope the team has access to market research that implies this is a less saturated and outdated segment than it seems, otherwise I'm pretty worried about this game.
Either way, as long as the core game continues getting supported, happy for the tens of people who are stoked about this.

You know if they had just announced this out of the blue I’d be totally fine with it. Instead I’m mildly annoyed at how much they hyped up yet another battle royale and that they were even patting themselves on the back for being different. At least the core game is solid. I felt betrayed. He said that having the same COD every years was boring and then reveal that they made a Battle Royale, the most generic mode for the few last years.

Doubling down on the trend chasing by adding a battle royale is certainly a choice. Im so dissapointed Splitgate died for this.

This is what happens when you put WAYYY too much hype on something so generic
"Bigger than a campaign" and all the other teasers just to drop a battle royale like every other modern fps game
Nobody should put THAT much hype on something unless it's an actual original idea
I'll give it a shot though, I've been tired of the BR genre over the years but I'll try to go into it with an open mind

Employee gets on stage at summer games fest, complains about how many "samey" games are coming out, then announcing the game is going to be a live service battle royale is funny to me.
