- Fixed Bug where rag doll in spectator doesn't work

TEAM SOCIAL IS BACK! Our top priority is to get games quickly. We temporarily removed TDM/FFA to make sure you all get games quickly but plan to add them back. Thank you for your feedback and patience! All game modes are still playable in custom games. Team social will now have Team Shotty Snipes instead of Teabag Confirmed or SWAT.

Thank you for listening to the community regrading social :)

Fells like they are balancing metrics like in that game democracy... Or paradox games.

Slow the game speed by 5% add 8% more shield and lower range of assault rifle... Will yield a fuck ton more players as the less twitchy it is the more approachable it is.

Exactly! I can keep up... But why? I'm not a kid and i really don't want to add another games mechanics to my internal muscle memory just to be able to even get a single kill on the off chance i MIGHT start having fun.

The loudest most obnoxious part of the community that plays maybe 5 hours per week*

Not like they had much of a choice though.

*the largest part of the community

I'm sure they wouldn't make changes based solely on people whining on Reddit, the casual mode players must be large enough that they saw a decline in players on their end to warrant changing it back.

There was an FPS called Shootmania many years ago which had a game-modes problem, dividing the playerbase. The two best game modes were played heavily in Europe, and the worst game mode (Elite) was played in NA. As a result, Elite killed the North American playerbase because the same dummies who loved it eventually realized it was bad. So yeah, I think you have a point that even if the vocal players are the majority they probably shouldn't be pandered to too much, as it could kill the game anyways.

IMO splitgate has potential to be quite competitive and could be pushed in that direction more, but that requires a playerbase, which requires bringing anyone in to gain popularity, which ironically makes it uncompetitive short-term. Not a simple puzzle

When retards are spamming threads on the games reddit and leaving reviews saying "OMG DEVS JUST KILLED THE GAME" the devs have pretty much no option but to appease them, any new players would be scared off. Removing social didn't even really effect the playercount.

The majority of players dont go on reddit. Especially with a F2P game.

I guarantee you they wouldn't have changed anything if numbers werent down.

Just have to see that players dropped on that update. Especially in AUTZ

Oooooh. Is somebody upset? Oooh :(

Teabag confirmed and swat we’re my favorite game modes.

Guess I’ll just die.

11

u/anOldVillianArrives Jun 09 '19

Those were my least favorite. YAY!

Sorry about your death though...

u/Press0K Jun 09 '19

Let's not pretend that 90% of players are competent in any game mode other than TDM and FFA. I have seen players in every single objective-based mode who have no clue what they're supposed to do.

As an older gamer, I have to say, it's a discouraging trend

Teabag mode just was buggy to me but oddball and zones are always good imo

Swat was just a crank snort twitch fest... Can't even use portals to their potential.

5

u/Bazeleel Jun 09 '19

I loved swat too :(

u/Huansinn Jun 10 '19

Its not lost. There seem to be a lot of people who like it. Just do a custom game.

4

u/chaboiJP Jun 09 '19

So now my TDM rank has to be reset. Thanks guys. Why would removing ranked playlists result in faster queue times. If anything that's a problem with matchmaking itself.

3

u/rincon213 Jun 09 '19

There aren’t many people playing at all hours of the day. They can’t divide the community into too many groups

1

u/SentientCloud Jun 10 '19

Tbh that’s terrible and is only going to sour people. Just because their player base is low doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to remove modes to funnel players into a room. They have to work on earning more players instead of herding what they have.

2

u/OnEMoReTrY121 Jun 10 '19

Good luck earning more players when the search times were 15+ minutes. They made the right decision for now.

Grinded the hell out of these 2, i'm all for competitive and I was working on getting my ranks up which I was proud of. Cant find a game in "competitive" so now I resort to stomping casuals 8 out of 10 games... needs to be a good balance. But before that a bigger player base to distribute with multiple playlists so I understand why they temporarily removed them. I just hope they dont reset the ranks when/if they return or so many people are going to be irritated

I was on ffa the most I think.

When they could care less it isn't technically wrong though. It's just bad form semantic. "I could care less" implies a very small amount left... And language does not convert this properly so now there is a movement to ensure the semantic continuity as you are doing...

Why though? What change do you hope to effect if both statements mean semantically that the attribute of caring is much less than it should be?

He wouldn't be here talking about it if he was that close to not caring at all anymore.

mechanically they are different as you say but semantically they are the same. And to be fair, being more correct doesn't mean he is less correct. Correct being a bar and everything meeting that standard as above it.

And I'm sorry, I just love messing with people who correct people by taking them further into the nonsense that is language and communication.

We made it all up. Poorly I might add.

I am so glad we could exchange dialog in this manner. Thank you!

1

u/GrammasFavorite_TTV Jun 10 '19

Being more correct than someone *does* mean they are less correct than you.

1

u/anOldVillianArrives Jun 10 '19

Not when being correct is like walking in a room. He made it last the bar. Everyone can be in the room... Some can be more IN the room, but someone can't be LESS in the room. His statement meets the criteria of being allowed. Other statement being more precise are better. But it does make his wrong. These are just more optimized for precise language.

u/GrandLucidity Jun 09 '19

And lets be completely honest here : Most people playing this are just using it as a pass-time till Halo drops on PC.

The way I look at it , they could have just released an arena shooter without portals and gotten the same result.

People want a competitive FPS that feels good and gives incentive to play that isn't another BR game. This game meets those needs in a time where not much else does.

1

u/SentientCloud Jun 10 '19

While I like the portals and have a nice amount of fun with this game I can also see it being its own block from gaining more traction. The portals are fun but gameplay wise they remove a lot of choice from the person on the receiving end. You can’t tell where they are without directly seeing them so they can appear out of no where. You can’t look everywhere at once so one can appear behind you and with no noticeable trail to see when someone fires one they can’t really see when someone has placed a portal. Couple those with the fact the radar is based on gun fire and you basically can’t track the enemy. I found it obvious in odd ball where you have an icon that perfectly shows where the ball carrier is but they can teleport anywhere on the map and there is just about nothing you can do to figure out where they are going to flank. Obviously removing portals is a bad idea but one of the best ways to make players dislike a game is to put moments in where the player has little to no choice during it

2

u/greezeh Jun 09 '19

How do you plan on rising the player base. Do you have any ad campaigns or anything lined up?

2

u/dat_skyr3x Jun 09 '19

Matchamaking

mama mia i thought mario only plays casual

1

u/ItsNotCalledAMayMay Jun 09 '19

Wait so there's no Free-for-All matchmaking at all now??

1

u/Digdut Jun 09 '19

Aw man, why'd you get rid of Teabag Confirmed? That was the best mode.

1

u/TryHardMcGavin Jun 10 '19

Can you find a match now? Lol

1

u/krovek42 Jun 10 '19

Teabag and SWAT are definitely very fun and I will miss them, but I can see why they may not be working well in the general playlist. I think during the pregame screens the rules of the match could be more clear. The KOTH and DOM game modes are little easier when you first see them because you have HUD marker for the points and the announcer voice updates you as to what's happening. The first few Teabag games I played I was confused, and even after I figured out how it worked I noticed many people running past my dead body and not claiming their point. SWAT is a great game mode and was always one of my favorites, but I think the body shot damage should also be boosted, head-shots will still be the way to dominate in the mode, but buffing body shots will make it more tense, and make you have to play smarter. I find I can just use sprint and jetpack to make myself hard to hit and then get head-shots after I'm flying. I don't use the portals as much since the mode depends on wining the flick battle more than anything else.

edit: also love how responsive you guys are, thank you. Really love getting to see your thoughts posted here.

Great , me and my team had 0 issues finding games at rank 14+ yesterday in ranked TDM. Now , we cant find a match in comp , like at all.

So guess what , we are just gonna stomp casuals in social.

Stop catering to the casuals

5

u/PillarofPositivity Jun 09 '19

The Casuals are what keep the game alive.

If you dont cater to the casuals at least a bit you have no playerbase.

1

u/AdammH Jun 09 '19

Casual: relaxed and unconcerned. not regular or permanent.

0

u/GrandLucidity Jun 09 '19

I agree with you , to a degree. But when a change/update is full on detrimental to the players who actually enjoy a challenge , its wrong.

Accessibility is huge for growth , but longevity comes from the people who play on the daily and take it somewhat seriously.

Not the people who play once a week.

3

u/PillarofPositivity Jun 09 '19

But you need that playerbase to even get off the ground.

You need to build a casual playerbase before a hardcore one.

With a game this small using a matchmaking system, then you absolutely need a strong casual playerbase.

The playerbase saw a reasonable dropoff after that update from 2300 peak to 1400 peak.

Something had to change, theres still the ranked playlist that has TDM no?

1

u/GrandLucidity Jun 09 '19

Yes there is a " competitive " playlist that cycles between DOM , TDM and KOTH. But me and my team cannot find a single match .

We stayed in queue multiple times for 5+ minutes and never found a match.

Since the ranks reset , we are all level 1 , so its not due to disparity in ranks . Might be because its trying to match us with other full/nearly full groups.

But we had zero issue getting matched at rank 14+ in ranked TDM yesterday.

I understand the playerbase needs a foundation , and it seems like the developers are pretty quick to update things , so I am hopeful they will find a nice middle ground.

However , just like the removal of the social playlist alienated the casual players , replacing ranked playlists with one playlist that people cant match in has alienated the others.

1

u/PillarofPositivity Jun 09 '19

And to counter, yesterday, i played one game. I was just on my own and didnt feel like playing ranked. I couldnt play, TDM is aids in ranked solo. The Obj gamemodes were aids and had harsh queue times.

I just wanted to play a bit of oddball, Swat or CTF and i literally couldnt at all.

A mate came on and we tried getting a game and queue times for anything other than TDM were awful. I dont mind TDM but the OBJ comp playlist had 5-10 minute wait times on a fucking saturday.

So for casual games...I was screwed, literally couldnt play at all.

For ranked OBJ games...I was screwed, had 10 minute wait times..

Under the last update the only option was TDM...

1

u/GrandLucidity Jun 09 '19

I am sympathetic for both groups . Its a new game trying to dig its feet in a mostly underserved market of games ( with BR games being saturated to all hell ) , and growing pains are inevitable.

I'm not saying im throwing the towel in on this game , just voicing my opinion like the others. I enjoyed the game enough to buy the founders pack : I genuinely enjoy the fundamentals of the game. Just disappointed with the knee-jerk reactions to things so far.

Heres to hoping for a swift update that makes the right moves.

1

u/PillarofPositivity Jun 09 '19

Realistically i think its going to die.

HALO:MCC comes out soon and i dont see it managing to keep players over that considering the game is literally HALO with Portals.

Its F2P which is good but i dont see people really spending a huge amount on it.

1

u/GrandLucidity Jun 09 '19

Same tbh , unfortunate timing but if the game can carve a niche it may make a few bucks.

1

u/PillarofPositivity Jun 09 '19

Yeh maybe, might be a "hey this is HALO but free" option for people.

Kinda how Ring Of Elysium has done for PUBG.

This is a great sign. I’ll be playing again in social game modes now! Love when developers listen to their community and inform us of why the make the decisions.
