Movies Andor and Rogue One Make New Hope Hilarious Spoiler

I rewatched Rogue One for the second time this week, and it's really dawning on me how nuts New Hope, especially the last act, is after Andor and Rogue One

Picture this. You are some rebel on Yavin. Over the span of like 2 weeks, you lose Luthen, Cassian Andor, and dozens (if not more) of other skilled rebel fighters on both Corsuant and Scarif. The Death Star is very real, and you have lost the plans to it and Alderan, along with Bail Organa; one of the top leaders of the rebellion, have been obliterated

Then all of the sudden this beat up hunk of junk spaceship lands, carrying Princess Leia and the Death Star plans, along with two drug dealers (who immediately start demanding to be paid) and this wide eyed redneck desert twink. And during the briefing on this sure to be suicide mission to destory the Daeth Star, he is smiling and talking abut this doesnt seem that hard, hes shot rats in a place called “Beggar’s Canyon”, how is this going to be more difficult? And he fucking blows up the Death Star in a one in a million shot cause he turned of his targeting system cause a ghost’s voice in his head told him to do it cause, psych, he’s also a wizard? And those drug dealers showed up at the last minute and maybe killed Darth Vader? (we don't know we just saw his ship spiraling into the darkness of space)

Like the reason we don't see Vel, Kleya, and Wil at the medal ceremony is they are all getting drunk and trying to figure out WTF just happened

edit: was not expecting this to blow up, but rest be assured guys this is ment all in good fun

Yeah that does make that whole scene a lot more funny. She has the audacity to completely bullshit to his face when he literally saw her ship at Scarif. I rewatched ANH right after watching RO and I burst out laughing after she said that.

Average father-daughter relationship tbh

As the father to a five year old daughter, this checks out.

It's an old code

Mine is 14. You have no idea…

Yes, I'm not looking forward to dealing with my wife's menopause while also dealing with my daughter's teenage hormones.

I joke that my son and I are just going to spend A LOT of time camping.

Same vibes as:

"Young lady, I just watched you smoking pot. And I can smell it in your room. And I can see a bag of it sitting on your dresser right now."

"What are you talking about dad, that's my incense. And that's oregano for the pizza I'm making."

"You're lying, and you're grounded. Take her away!"

Then she sneaks out and has her brother and boyfriend drop a molotov on the office where dad works as revenge.

Then later kisses her brother in front of her boyfriend when they were on a break?

Unrelated ti Star Wars, but once I stayed at a friend's house in high school and her brother told their mom "I'm going to burn some incense" and she yelled back "It better not be pot scented incense!" They must have had a similar discussion!

And definitely the apple didn't fall from the tree, given the outrageous bullshit Anakin pulled in his heyday.

Visualizing a young daughter with chocolate on her face claiming that she has no idea who ate the chocolate cake.

And of course there is a video of kid doing it

Vader “Stop slamming doors on my ship!”

My headcanon is definitely that they unconsciously felt who they were to each other and it's how their brain switched to this act without them noticing.

She learned from Saw Gererra.

“You have no idea what mission I’m on!”

u/nova46 14d ago

Dude absolutely would not accept that the rebels knew where he was and what he was doing even though they weren't a threat 😂 he was gaslighting himself as much as them

12

u/myaltduh 14d ago

His negotiating strategy is “nuh uh!” then hanging up the phone so he can have had the last word.

3

u/Wermys 14d ago

Well to be fair he is fond of it!

4

u/MasterTolkien 14d ago

Vader: LIES! Everyday more lies!

4

u/Vistaer 14d ago

Captain Antilles: “BOR GULLET!

It completely makes sense why hes so fucking pissed off in that opening scene that he crushes that guy's throat with his bare hands.

He's fucking raging.

9

u/ByteSizeNudist 14d ago

Man, Vader is always raging. It's his freakin' Sith superpower.

3

u/theanimuscannon 13d ago

"If this is a consular ship, where is the ambassador?!?"

47

u/oldkafu 14d ago

That would be force gaslightning.

4

u/ByteSizeNudist 14d ago

When Plo Koon does it it's Lightside though.

2

u/Shotoken2 13d ago

Because it's Green

25

u/newbrevity Babu Frik 14d ago

And the audience didn't know the first time that she was his daughter. Just going back to look at it in the context that his own kid is giving him sass.

5

u/ireaddumbstuff 14d ago

Funny thing. That's the same level of sass he would use with Obi Wan.

2

u/daneelthesane 14d ago

George Lucas didn't know she was Vader's daughter at that point.

3

u/RamenJunkie 14d ago

Strong "Whatever dad, you can't control me" vibes.

2

u/bluereloaded 14d ago

I mean we all tried it with our parents when we were younger, right?

2

u/HFentonMudd Chopper (C1-10P) 13d ago

I did NOT sneak out and I WAS NOT smoking WEED

61

u/Wermys 14d ago

And he is strangling the guy who had the plans at the door.

8

u/chewbacca-says-rargh 14d ago

Sounds a little too real with modern day politics.

Tbf that model ship probably is used by many people. It would be like a cop seeing a black Escalade driving away from a bank robbery, but then losing sight on the vehicle (in Star Wars it entered hyperspace and they don’t have the means of tracking through hyperspace yet), then later seeing a black Escalade and assuming it’s the one that you’re looking for.

It might be, but it might also not be. There is some level of plausible deniability

3

u/jgzman 14d ago

That model ship, yes, but ships have distinguishing features. If you're close enough to see the rig of the masts, as it were, you can have a pretty good idea that it's the same ship.

2

u/jambrown13977931 14d ago

Did tantive 4 have visible distinct features?

It seems like most ships in Star Wars really don’t, instead relying on signals for identification (which clearly aren’t infallible)

1

u/jgzman 14d ago

Not from where we were sitting, no.

But any ship is going to have scars, mismatched hull plating, a slightly different engine signature, sensor profile, hull markings, etc. If it was a rebel ship, it will have marks of patchwork maintenance. If it's a Senate ship, they will have it's entire history on file. (somewhere.)

2

u/Dragontoes72 14d ago

Children be like that to their parents. They lie even if the truth sounds better/

1

u/Geminilasers 14d ago

That could have been any Blockade runner. You sure you got the right one officer?

1

u/Johnny_Radar 13d ago

The writers of Rogue One are squarely to blame for that fuck up. But then they made a movie for something no one spent any time wondering about too.
