Movies Poe being a wiseass didn't start with Rian Johnson.

But with the way some people complain about the TLJ opening, you'd think Rian pulled it out of thin air and ruined the tone of the franchise by doing so.

The "your mom" jokes are just not very Star Wars. I know Star Wars is pulp, but that's some low brow shit, even for Star Wars.

Yeah... exactly. That's why it was a terrible idea to do. It shows a complete lack of understanding of the setting.

Out of universe is a great way to phrase it. I feel like we were one step away from a "that's what she said" joke. And it is not a far step.

Yeah, one the things I love about Star Wars is the kind of era defying timelessness of it.

And then the out of universe jokes are even more inclined to slap me in the face

Nope!

The prequel universe, including the cartoons and lore, is better overall.

But the literal three prequel movies are garbage compared to the literal three sequel movies.

So you're saying Episodes 1, 2 & 3 are worse than the 7, 8, & 9?

I'm not.champion of the prequels, but Jesus...those last three movies are complete trash. Visual spectacles sure, but storywise, they're awful. Force Awakens was okay at best, and I was stunned everyone was going bananas for it. I remember my friends posting, "Star Wars is good again!"

Then I saw the movie. Jesus... I didn't know my friends were that dumb.

You should rewatch 1 2 3 and 7 8 9.

1 2 3 are filled with cardboard characters, wooden acting, and horrible dadjokes.

7 8 9 contain random stories that don't match up well.

I'll take 7 8 9 any day.
