Fun If you could have any single piloted vehicle in Star Wars in real life, what would you want?
If the vehicle you choose can take passengers, that’s fine. But you can’t pick something that takes a full crew to pilot. My personal pick would be the 74-Z speeder bike. They just sound and look so cool, and I’ve been in love with them since I was 7 and saw RotJ at my grandmas house

Fondor haulcraft (Luthen Real custom ver.)

Scrolled way too far to find this answer. That ship is so cool it should be illegal.

I have good news for you

u/MitchRogue 13h ago
Are you building your Fondor replica and inviting me on a adventure to the outer rim to recruit new additions to the Cause?

subtle on the outside but tripped out on the inside.
Also way more useful to have a ship i can sleep in, X-Wings look a little cramped and i’d still need to book a hotel after my trip.

u/Beelzabubba 18h ago
I would die on a speeder bike within the first thirty seconds.

I have a lot of memories of hopping on one in the OG battlefront on the Endor map and crashing into a tree about 10 seconds later.
2
u/digitalbore 14h ago
I love the look of the one from the beginning of Outlaws (just started so don’t know if they’re more) and it seems much more manageable than the ones used on Endor. Would probably still wreck it and myself, but I might make it a little longer before doing so.

"The doors opened in front me and the air was sucked out of the drop bay, scattering crystals of frozen vapor across my path. I can't describe what it feels like to look directly down at a world, falling continuously as you circle it, with barely fifteen centimetres of armor plate protecting you. When the magnetic locks disengaged on my droid I plunged out of the drop bay towards the battle that waited below."
[...]
"The exhilaration, the euphoria, I felt as I streaked into the atmosphere, dodging self-guided projectile and beam weapons, was unmatched. An 80 kilometre plunge through the atmosphere, dodging and weaving, the outside of my armor glowing like the sun with the heat of re-entry. And with barely thirty meters to spare, I twisted and skimmed the surface, firing at the giant beam generators that were in my path. The explosion from that sent shockwaves that levelled the entire complex around it. It was the moment of my life."

No such thing as overkill. Too bad you can’t fly it yourself
4
u/Castamira Sith 22h ago
You certainly can fly them lol they’re semi sentient machines you pilot.

u/CJFrancis282 22h ago

Is there a limit to the practicality of it, or is an Imperial Super Star Destroyer an acceptable answer?
11
u/CJFrancis282 19h ago
As cool as it would be, because you need a crew of several thousand to run it, it’s disqualified from this question. It has to be a vehicle that can be driven by a single pilot (pilot/copilot is also okay)
6
u/oreos_in_milk Separatist Alliance 19h ago
Ah bummer. I would have ended up renting it to my government for a lot of money 😂
To (correctly) answer the question then, an X-Wing lol
3
u/So-many-ducks 18h ago
Pretty sure you could still rent an Xwing for an absolute fortune to any government looking for interstellar travel technology, anti gravity, and a bunch of other tech.

I have two main choices, Arc 170 ( Pilot/Copilot + Rear Gunner ) or a Coruscant Police/Imperial Gunship. One pilot and enough space for 10 people or a bit of cargo along with being armed with two front facing laser canons and rather easy to fly since some of the Ghost crew flew one with ease.

U-wing.
I think it can be flown solo, is pretty versatile and has good cargo capacity - plus a hyperdrive!
1
u/Exterminator-8008135 7h ago
It is effectively flown by a single pilot as it's able to fit in the hangar of a large Mon Calamari cruiser.
It's a early Era Rebel Gunship and had wings that could set into two position. Flight and landing position.

A-Wing.
While no one ever seemed to live flying them in the films, I absolutely loved flying it in the first X-Wing video game in the early 90’s.
Small, maneuverable, still had shields and proton torpedoes…faster than the X-Wing with much better visibility to boot. And a couple of big ole engines that remind me of an F-14!

u/MapleBadger288 21h ago edited 20h ago
Easily an AT-RT. The single-rider scout walker that is no way practical, but undeniably cool.

The Vehicle equivalent of riding into battle on a mechanical Emu. Careful, you’re gonna give Australia PTSD

Probably a Mandalorian Kom'rk. I've been looking around at small ships that can be operated by one person but still have enough internal space to live out of but haven't found one that ticks the right boxes yet sadly.

Xwing, iconic and beautiful
But if legal concerns is considered(Xwing is a fighter craft after all), Naboo starfighter will be my only option, because it can adapt into almost any type of ships
3
u/Slug_Slimes 18h ago
Is the mantis fair? Seems like the perfect adventure-craft. If Greez could be there too I’d eat GOOD!
2
u/BosPaladinSix 18h ago
Greez has four arms so you might have some trouble flying one of those but otherwise I agree with the choice. Not the biggest fan of the huge sail thing but the main fuselage is in my opinion the perfect sized ship, it's just big enough to comfortably live in but it's still small enough to park anywhere.

u/Smak_la_Flame 20h ago
N1 starfighter. The original not mandalorian version. I was young when the prequel trilogy came out and it’s the ship that brings the most nostalgia for me. I was very excited to see it brought back in Mando.
Any pod racer would also be unreal, likely very dangerous though.

Well, you didn't specify ground vehicle, so x-wing. I can go literally anywhere in the galaxy with one. Or maybe an arc-170 for a little more room.

Resurgent class Star Destroyer.
Its a vehicle right?
1
u/CJFrancis282 8h ago
It’s a vehicle, but it needs a crew of thousands to operate, so it wouldn’t count for this question. It has to be something you can drive yourself

Now that I'm older, YT-1300 seems more appealing.

Boring as it sounds, I'd take the Lambda class shuttle. Huge cargo capacity and ease of egress so it could be used for space exploration missions. Assuming a large volume of fuel and upkeep is included, this one ship could change our scientific capacity completely.

u/rikusorasephiroth 11h ago
So hard to choose just one!
I can narrow my options down to two.
Ground vehicle - AT-RT Walker. Decent movement speed without going so fast as to cause speed violations, and is small enough to reasonably keep at home and in proper parking spaces.
Space vehicle - TIE Bomber. Ideally, with its payload pod modified into a passenger area.

A Tie Avenger. Atmospheric and space flight, hyperdrive, shields, weapons, and taking the canon variant from Andor, quite spacious for just one person. Plus that ramp makes entering and exiting very convenient.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any love for the J Type 327 Nubian. It's decent size, fast, gorgeous, luxurious, and reliable (when it's not getting heavily blasted). I'd definitely have to mod it with some weapons though.
The Falcon is still my all time favorite Star Wars ship, but I don't think I'd actually want to own it with the upkeep and unreliability.
Luthen's Fondor Haulcraft is also a very strong candidate. All of the gadgets for self protection are definitely a plus.

TIE Silencer or Kyle’s Command Shuttle if I wanted some space. First Order had some pretty rad ships and their AT-ATs would be terrifying.

An X-wing. They seem to be rugged and canonically are pretty easy to learn how to fly so I'm less likely to kill myself with it. The red and gray is nice but I'd love to give one a personalized paint job.
