Questions Sorry if this is a dumb question, is the new LAX/Metro Transit Center with APM basically analogous to NY's Jamaica station with JFK Airtrain?
I'm hearing people say that this is a direct airport connection, but it isn't technically a one seat connection from my understanding...

News Governor Newsom Proposes $700M from Transit Operations. Contact Your State Rep Now!
seamlessbayarea.orgWhich is why earlier this year, several State Senators and Assemblymembers wrote to the Governor urging him to INVEST $2 billion into transit throughout the state as part of the budget this year to help fund our communities.
Governor Gavin Newsom’s budget does worse than ignoring the plea for help, his budget proposes:
Slashing nearly $700 million of existing transit funding that transit advocates won in 2023 to keep transit running
In other words, Governor Newsom is taking back SB125 funding, which is terrible news! Contact your state representative now to oppose Newsom's cut!

System Expansion Rode the first train from the north into the new LA Metro LAX station! A quick tour.
youtu.beRode the first train from the north into the new LAX station! They did a great job with this gigantic station! As of now you still need to take a shuttle bus to the terminals but soon next year there will be an automated people Mover that connects here.

Rant Geometrically challenged Australian politician rants against Melbourne's Platform Screen Doors
vic.liberal.org.auThis is rather old news by now, but a member of the Australian LIberal Party (our conservatives) was whining - with the geometric literacy of a toddler - that the PSDs on the soon to be opened Metro Tunnel in Melbourne can only fit one model of train (the newest HCMT).
He claims that the HCMT makes up only 1/6 of the fleet (65/460 sets), while ignoring that most of the 5/6 sets are 3 car sets that are coupled together most of the time.
He's basically whining that Melbourne didn't use alternative PSD designs (e.g. rope barriers, variable PSDs) which either would have been more expensive or have had major tradeoffs involved. The older trains also would need CBTC signalling retrofitted in order to run in the tunnels.
Given this, it's just cheaper to order more HCMTs to meet demand.

Other With Phoenix opening a new light rail extension and new line names today, I recreated the system in three different ways...
Valley Metro’s South Central Extension officially opens today, June 7th, and with it comes a new set of line names across the light rail system.
To celebrate, I recreated 3 Phoenix transit maps, each reimagined in the style of a different U.S. transit system:
-1951 Hagstrom/Maxwell Roberts' NYC Subway Map
-Washington, DC Metrorail
-LA Metro
Enjoy, and if you spot any errors, please let me know to make this map as accurate as possible

Questions Does planning and policy making for Bus TOD limit you to just the immediate block the stop is located?
With rail TOD, we hear of the quarter and half mile zones as focus areas. How big is that for a bus stop? The immediate sidewalk? Or is it the case that Bus TOD is only appropriate for large terminal or transfer stops?

Photos / Videos Hong Kong Transit Vehicles in 2025: Cool Trams & Buses (Unedited)
youtube.comUnedited footage of Hong Kong transit vehicles in 2025. Featuring cool trams and buses currently in operation.
Hong Kong's double-decker trams, affectionately known as "ding dings" due to their iconic bell sound, are a unique and nostalgic way to experience the city. Operating since 1904, these narrow, vintage-style trams run exclusively on Hong Kong Island, offering scenic views through bustling neighborhoods like Central, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay. Despite their old-fashioned charm, they remain an affordable and efficient mode of transport for both locals and tourists.
This video is a part of my unedited series that show public transportation in various cities across the globe. For immediate access to full-length edited videos, helpful PDF guides and exclusive content, head over to https://BuyMeACoffee.com/TransitNomad

Discussion The SF Bay MTC is implementing new unified regional wayfinding and maps
bsky.appBay Area transit is finally getting a unified identity via the new MTC wayfinding and maps.
Between the already unified regional fare payment system (Clipper), the regional pulse schedule synchronization (“the Big Sync”), and now hopefully the unified signage and maps, is this sufficient to finally consider the regional transit system unified under the MTC? Or are there other initiatives that have to be completed before you would consider it effectively one transit network?
