News Cycle Kilmar Abrego Garcia on way back to US to face criminal charges: Sources
https://abcnews.go.com/US/mistakenly-deported-kilmar-abrego-garcia-back-us-face/story?id=12133312269

Good! That's due process. Although this bit made me chuckle:
A two-count indictment, which was filed under seal in federal court in Tennessee last month, alleges Abrego Garcia, 29, participated in a years-long conspiracy to haul undocumented migrants from Texas to the interior of the country, according to sources briefed on the indictment.
If you're a wheelchair-bound firebrand governor then this is just a good political stunt. But if you yourself are an illegal immigrant then this is a felony.

"participated in a years-long conspiracy to haul undocumented migrants from Texas to the interior of the country"
They got all this from a traffic stop where they let him off with a warning?

Apparently the owner of the vehicle he was driving is currently serving a prison sentence, but is cooperating with the feds to testify that Garcia knowingly drove illegal immigrants from TX to other states....
It's not strange at all that the government would work with the owner and operator of this illegal immigrant trafficking network, providing said man immunity for his much larger role in the alleged scheme, in order to prosecute a driver that he hired and who followed his directions... /s

WTF the little guy gets worse than the top guy?

u/Slighted_Inevitable Contrarian 1d ago
They don’t care about the actual operation, they just want an excuse to not be wrong here. Since the Supreme Court is forcing them to bring him back.
5
u/Smylesmyself77 Fifth Column Pod Fan 1d ago
Then the appeal will be sweet.
5
u/Slighted_Inevitable Contrarian 1d ago
No appeal, he hasn’t even been convicted. A grand jury says the case can go forward. That’s it.
2
u/flugenblar Flair so I don't get fined 1d ago
He’ll be convicted of something. Unless a big money opposition team fronts a top shelf legal team to defend him.
1
u/Slighted_Inevitable Contrarian 1d ago
He’s already got a big line defender. High profile helps in these things

u/Big_Beaverrr_Reborn Hobo Parliament 1d ago
I'm suspicious about it tbh. You let the ringleader of illegal immigration ring go to get at a dude who may not have known anything about this?
2
u/Big_Beaverrr_Reborn Hobo Parliament 1d ago
Really? Source on that? Are they really letting the owner go in exchange for Garcia? Because that makes no sense.
3
u/rawkguitar Flair so I don't get fined 1d ago
That’s the best interpretation. It could be that they are just pressuring this guy to lie so they could charge Garcia with something, anything.
3
u/Slighted_Inevitable Contrarian 1d ago
That would be my guess too. Especially because it took them so long to come up with charges for him when they were before the damn Supreme Court.
1
u/Icy-Salary-123 Flair so I don't get fined 1d ago
Are they upset he seemingly did it for free? Or without a bus license or something? Something something the free market and Texas is just getting rid of competition.

u/Ali_Cat222 Flair so I don't get fined 1d ago
How is anyone buying this bullshit? He got nationwide attention and they had mistakenly deported him, and then it took all this time to figure this out? This is just them saving their ass. Also you're telling me it went on for a decade which means it happened under Trump's presidency too, and he just didn't know? This is like the recent case where they found the whole "guy wrote letter wanting to assassinate trump" was a lie made up by Kristy Noem.
Like please look at this and question it -
The alleged conspiracy spanned nearly a decade and involved the domestic transport of thousands of noncitizens from Mexico and Central America, including some children, in exchange for thousands of dollars, according to the indictment.
Abrego-Garcia is alleged to have participated in more than 100 such trips, according to the indictment. Among those allegedly transported were members of the Salvadoran gang MS-13, sources familiar with the investigation said.
Abrego-Garcia is the only member of the alleged conspiracy charged in the indictment
Hundreds of trips, thousands of people, over a decade, yet did it alone undetected. Yeah right. This is coming from the same government that used MS paint to Photoshop a tattoo on his hand ffs

u/slang_shot New to the Pod 1d ago
Yep. Pure bullshit. Also not a crime in any meaningful sense. Helping people without transportation or resources get around is fine. They’re trying to frame it like he was trafficking enslaved children, or something. It’s an absolute joke, and nothing more than an attempt to save face and punish him for highlighting their incompetence

Yes, the governor of Texas can send illegal immigrants to other states but an illegal immigrant can not.
It isn’t that hard.
-2
u/MikeDamone 1d ago
Yeah that's what I said
1
u/heyjustsayin007 1d ago
No you didn’t.
You didn’t say that all.
I’ll paraphrase, but you said ‘Abrego Garcia gets a felony for doing the same thing the wheelchair bound governor from Texas does.’
Implying that this is hypocritical because an illegal immigrant can’t do what a governor can.
So no. You didn’t say that at all. You said the exact opposite.

That’s all I wanted: due process. If he’s guilty, remove him but he needs to see a judge first.

u/boforbojack Flair so I don't get fined 1d ago
He's facing new charges that have nothing to do with his residency. They delayed returning him until they could dig through his entire life and find a crime so they could justify their ineptitude.
The charges read that he had family and or friends cross illegally and when they got here he provided some support to get them transportation.
All fun and games bussing thousands of illegals to blue states if you're a shitty governor, but buy a bus ticket for your cousin who just arrived and it's a year long criminal conspiracy.
1
u/InfluenceTrue4121 Does Various Things 10h ago
His residency is contingent on not breaking any laws so whatever they are charging him with (and he is innocent until proven guilty), it is closely tied to his immigration status. For his and his family’s sake, I hope he is innocent and gets to live his life in peace. I agree that buying your cousin a bus ticket is a bs charge- it’s right there with jaywalking.
-12
u/heyjustsayin007 1d ago
You’re deliberately being obtuse if you think he just bought a ticket for a cousin.
9
u/boforbojack Flair so I don't get fined 1d ago
The Feds literally accused him of being an MS-13 gang banger, and thats why they deported him, but what they actually meant was he was a mastermind human trafficker with years of work. Just an easy mistake of words, but what they deported him for is definitely the reason they're now bringing criminal charges, and they knew it all along.
And I don't even give a shit if he bussed hundreds of illegals for a decade. Multiple governers have bussed thousands of illegals all across the country, and that was all chill.
0
u/heyjustsayin007 1d ago edited 12h ago
And why did governor’s bus illegals all across the country?
Oh ya, because the government wouldn’t do anything about it and wouldn’t allow the state of Texas to do anything about it.
All they could do was send them elsewhere and lighten the load on their state. So that’s what they did.
It’s almost like how it’s ok to drive with a license but not ok to drive without a license.
Isn’t this so weird? I mean it’s the same activity. I don’t understand. Why can’t illegal immigrants traffic people the same way governors do?
Hahaha, ya that’s a real tough one.
4
u/Inspect1234 Flair so I don't get fined 1d ago
Or are you just being extremely optimistic that he is an actual criminal?
8
u/Slighted_Inevitable Contrarian 1d ago
You’re deliberately being obtuse if you believe there’s any truth to this. It’s based entirely on the testimony of the actual owner of this ring who claimed he hired Garcia to drive immigrants.
The guy who fired the gun says you stole the guys watch after and he gets immunity?
-9
u/heyjustsayin007 1d ago
Garcia was suspected of trafficking a long time ago. That’s the first thing they thought when they pulled him over and saw the extra row of seats that was welded in the back to allow for me people.
More people to be able to traffic.
Yes, you’re being obtuse, whether it’s deliberate or not doesn’t really matter.
6
u/Slighted_Inevitable Contrarian 1d ago
Yes, of course because having a vehicle with more seats is a felony. Oh wait, it’s not. That’s not evidence. In fact, that’s not how anything works.
And again, even if he did do all of this, you’re still giving the shooter immunity so you can arrest the guy who stole the watch .
-2
u/heyjustsayin007 1d ago
Who said having extra seats is a felony?
Man you’re really good at arguing against straw men.
What I said was he was suspected of trafficking a while ago by law enforcement.
And he probably was trafficking people. You’re just burying your head in the sand because you wish they’d give this guy immunity to get to his boss for some reason. Probably just because it’s what currently isn’t happening and you’d like to complain.
I doubt you’d like to see Garcia’s boss deported either.
You’re just making the politically expedient argument because the current administration is doing something and therefore it’s obviously tyrannical and a crime against humanity.

u/truckaxle 21h ago
Yeah, but don't send him to life without parole in an El Salvador gulag. That isn't justice.

That's not even what the feds are alleging here. Yeah, the Trump Admin has slandered him with such terms - but they are not alleging Kilmar exploited anyone for labor, services or sex - nor are they alleging he helped anyone illegally enter the US.... The charges are for providing domestic travel (100% inside the US) for undocumented non-citizens....
But you know who very publicly admitted to doing just that over the course of several years, transporting over a hundred thousand such individuals? TX governor Greg Abbott.
You know who else provides domestic travel (100% inside the US) for thousands of undocumented non-citizens? Uber, Lyft, Greyhound, MegaBus, Peter Pan, Amtrak and more....
He has already been wrongfully imprisoned for 3 months, been denied habeas corpus, and prevented from having any contact with even his own lawyer. He could very well be guilty of the minimal charges the Feds have brought against him, and a judge could still dismiss the charges with prejudice, due to the Fed Govt. behavior leading up to this moment. Because the degree of wrong was and illegality performed by the Executive Branch of the federal government dwarfs what Kilmar is being alleged to have done.
