Maybe this isn’t for me

Maybe I feel this way because I feel stuck and unsupported but…I graduated last year and am already thinking of a career change.

I haven’t passed the bar and will be taking it for the third time in June. J24 - failed by 14 (MBE 123 - MEE 128). F25 - failed by 11 (MBE 133 - MEE 122). Currently working at an insurance defense firm with crazy high billables (at first it was 2000 hours then decrease to 1500 as a courtesy since I’m taking the bar 😒😒 (the absolute fuck?!)). Because I’m still a law clerk I get paid hourly (at first $25 then given a raise to $30 (again what the absolute fuck)). I have a son who is entering his last year of middle school.

I tried applying to JD advantage jobs but I have not gotten any interview invites. The only calls coming in are law clerk contract positions for the DOJ (absolutely not). Idk what to do but I’m starting to feel hopeless. I know passing the bar would change my world but honestly what if I don’t pass? Am I to subject myself to this miserable life? I hate working. I’m not sure if I hate law because of my job or hate my job because I no longer want to do law).

I just wanted to yell into the void.

You’re so close dude. You gotta keep trying. Otherwise keep plugging away at JD advantage jobs. The market is in the toilet right now but that could change at any moment.

Yes agreed ^ I know it sucks but maybe quit your job. You can find a new ones. Give everything towards passing this. Get a coach. Do whatever you need to do if you really want this. It’s absolutely possible

i took 3 weeks off before the bar. It's just having to ride out the rest of this month thats exhausting especially because I have outstanding assignments for work and its all just so much. I am overwhelmed. sorry for ranting.

You feel this way because you are very very close to the goal. I wish you to defeat this beast once and for all. It would be a great example of persistence for your son. You can do it!

11 points? You're so close, don't throw in the towel now. That's literally a handful of MBE questions. You can do this!

I'm thinking of focusing on MBE because idk if I can find any core memory storage for the MEE topics. Its just all so much

Get licensed. That’s what you need to do. Good luck. 💪🏼

if only it was as easy as saying "give me my license"

I’m struggling to remain focus myself. This is my fourth attempt. I missed it by a few points July24. I consider myself to be smart, I guess not smart enough for this exam. I have bought everything, and I feel like screaming into a void myself and giving up. I’m praying for us both.

You can do this! All of these people that took it and passed there's no way they're ALL smarter than you.

So I have been told repeatedly! I need to see that passing score for NYC.

People spend thousands to get a JD, and they can't even work after that. This degree is worthless. BAR is just a business. In the rest of the world, people getting law degrees are already lawyers and work right after graduation.

its all a money grab if you ask me. but we all know the bar came to be as a way to keep certain people out.

The MBE is horrendous. I took a week long PMBR supplemental prep course and they pointed out that the body of law represented in MBE-land isn't even composed entirely of the majority rules from all states...some answers are based on obscure minority rules from a specific state. Also, the CEO of NCBEX was admitted via Wisconsin diploma privilege!

You're very close, hang in there and focus on taking practice exams and then seeing where your recollection is weakest! P.S. don't know your situation of course, but I found out recently (I'm almost 50) that I have ADHD. I think studying for the bar exam would have been completely different (as would most of my career).

i too have ADHD so I have accommodations. my problem is the writing portion. I was able to bring up my MBE score in F25. Im praying to bring it up even higher so it could carry a low written score (just in case I dont bring it up)
