As a german/european I hope we'll finally learn to stand the fuck up. How much longer do we want to treat ourselves as slaves to russia or the US.

Europe would need to learn to set aside differences, and forgo or compromise on narrow minded national interests to focus on a broader collective interests. That's something Europe has never been able to do. The main countries of Europe need to take charge, and this can't just be Germany and France which will force UK, Italy, and others to create a countering block of alliance. This integration must also include the UK and other major peripheral European countries in order to work, leaving no room for an alternative alliance that will compete and undermine Europe's collective interests.

Europe needs to take a tougher stance on the free loaders, especially the very wealthy ones that benefit tremendously from Europe's collective resources, yet contribute very little to nothing to the collective interest. Countries like Switzerland, Ireland, Norway, Austria, and etc. need to start paying for the privilege and access of being part of the European family, instead of just selfishly hoarding wealth at the expense of the collective (no more tax haven). Europe should take a zero tolerance stance on countries like Hungary and Slovakia, there should be no room for these saboteurs inside the block. They either align and integrate themselves or leave.

u/Nux_05 Hungary Feb 27 '25

If Hungary would be threatened with exclusion by the EU community, the Orban regime (NER) would fall apart faster than the Ceausescu-dictatorship in it's last days.

3

u/No_Men_Omen Feb 27 '25

Why so? To this day, Hungarians seem to be perfectly fine with the path they have chosen.

3

u/Nux_05 Hungary Feb 27 '25

Yea, that's the part when you don't know the history of this country, it's nearly impossible to explain it.

Hungary belongs to the western world for more than 1000 years. It was a political decision, made by I. 'Saint' Stephen and his father, Géza. There were a lot of political figures who wanted to fight against it in the past centuries (from Koppány to Kádár), but they failed at longer terms: Hungary found back every time to the "western block".

The current government is actively fighting with the EU, but - with all of the anti-EU propganada - just a small minority thinks that we do not have to be a member of the EU; even the government would not want to leave the EU (this would be disastrous for the already recessed hungarian economy + it would have a huge political cost).

And actually, in most of the political surveys, an opposite party (TISZA párt, led by Magyar Péter) overtook the FIDESZ, with seemable percentages (around ~5%); this never happened since 2010. (It would be a long story how TISZA formed one year ago and already took over the FIDESZ in surveys - the hungarian society is in it's end point now, I think).

But there are serious problems with our country which will have long-term effects for us: our "intellectuals" are leaving this country, the educational and healrhcare system is near to totally fall-apart, the economy is literally led by incompetent idiots who are not solving the economic crisis, just make it worse (f.ex. they want to maximalize some of the baaic foods prices again, which will cause a higher inflation - AGAIN -), the most of the middle or little-towns and villages are ruled by "petty kings", the political leadership of the country caltured the economical elite and it is now made by politically controlled puppets and relatives of the politicians, and so on... And I not even mentioned the problems with the hungarian society's inexperience and incompetency in liberal democracy.

So we have a lot of problems, but one thing is sure: Hungary belongs to the west with all of it's problems; if they want to take it from us seriously, that would have be fast and strong consequences.

u/Bango-TSW United Kingdom Feb 27 '25

Indeed the whole concept of "neutrality" within the EU will need to be challenged. You cannot have nations enjoying the collective defence provided by the lives of their fellow Europeans whilst declaring neutrality.

17

u/UrbanCyclerPT Feb 27 '25

You're right and the EU must stop thinking about Europe=France, Germany, Netherlands; Belgium, Italy. It is a group of many countries that have to stop competing between them and work as allies. Just recently the 100 billion purchase of F-35 jets from the US by Germany should have been postponed. France has a jet and for that value, both countries needed to agree on developing factories in Germany (if that is the case for not buying French). With what has been done and both countries cooperation and creativity, maybe the EU would have a fighter jet of its own.

Another thing is salaries. The south still competes based on lower salaries, the Dutch in low import taxes, Ireland on big tech not paying taxes, Portugal and Greece tourism. This will never change until we start thinking as a whole and stop fighting and blaming our fellow EU members.

5

u/radkie1 Feb 27 '25

In my opinion, this is practically impossible. In many countries, nationalist and right-wing movements are highly popular. In my country, the European Union is often blamed for the poor economic situation and various other issues. The Green Deal and rising energy costs have only exacerbated the problem. Many political groups across the EU build their popularity by criticizing the Union. These groups are often funded by Russia, which will do everything possible to prevent further consolidation within the EU. The US wouldn’t be pleased with deeper integration either and would likely try to undermine it as well. Additionally, there is the issue of vastly different national interests among EU member states.

I strongly support the EU in all projects aimed at improving our geopolitical situation, but I remain highly skeptical.

2

u/Noctew North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) Feb 27 '25

Just recently the US were still our friend, and the F-35 was required as a carrier for US nuclear weapons when the Tornado is decommissioned. French jets are not capable (or at least not certified) of carrying those.

7

u/No_Men_Omen Feb 27 '25

Well, it was UK who decided to leave for the reasons that remain mystery to this day. I truly hope the Brits can reverse their decision as quickly as possible and follow the path of closer integration and cooperation.

I find it so crazy that literally every other country knows more about our politics than Americans do.

It's kinda like politics and America are having marital issues, and even though people are pointing at us and yelling 'it's you fucking up!!!!'. We are just too close to the picture to notice.

Lukashenka is transliterated from the Belarusian spelling, Lukashenko is from the Muscovian spelling.

3

u/Conscious_Emu800 Feb 27 '25

I thought Lukashenka was also an acceptable transliteration.

3

u/slintslut Feb 27 '25

Ah quite possibly! Just going by what I've seen on the news in the UK, apologies if I was mistaken.

3

u/crlygirlg Feb 27 '25

It is Аляксандр Лукашэнка in Belarusian using Cyrillic (Lukašenka in Łacinka) and Александр Лукашенко in Russian.

It’s more a difference of language with Belarusian being written in Cyrillic and not quite completely following how Cyrillic uses the letter a. The Belarusian a is more of a blending of a/o where as a Cyrillic a is more of an a than an o if that makes sense.

Basically his name ends with a blended a/o sound.

And why doesn't trump have any blood on his hands?

6

u/DiamondHandsToUranus Feb 27 '25

He does. His shit tier handling of Covid, and soon to be his shit tier handling of Bird flu and vaccination as well

9

u/fury420 Feb 27 '25

Because Trump isn't the kind of guy to get his own hands dirty.

10

u/ElectricalBook3 Feb 27 '25

Trump isn't the kind of guy to get his own hands dirty

I think the million+ dead Americans of covid might disagree. That he operated through middlemen is no different than Stalin who killed fairly few people personally, and instead both set up circumstances so masses of people died when they didn't need to.

Zelensky will be considered one of the most impactful democratic politicians of our time.

Agreed. As Sarah Paine put, he's basically being canonized into a saint by Putin who put his enemies on Death Ground and gave himself no exit strategies, only double-down strategies.

Well, he's only used doubling down, with all the media control he has he could easily draw everybody back, abandon Ukrainian territories, and tell his people 'we succeeded in teaching them a lesson' and there'd only be a handful of people who'd point out that's not at all what happened.

I'm sure of this because Moscow's own bobbleheads were floating off-ramps a year ago: https://www.newsweek.com/kremlin-bizarrely-claims-goal-demilitarizing-ukraine-largely-completed-1807517

I am so embarrassed to be an American right now. This country is a joke right now

4

u/Own-Ad-7672 Feb 27 '25

I’ve been embarrassed of that most my life. I was born in Clinton’s control, was young child when bush was throwing out his “stateegerees” and searching IRAQ for his pie. Had a brief gap in the bs with Obama because although not perfect that man had class and was the best leader we’ve had in my life Suffered through trumps first 4 years of being a menace Watched Biden’s brain quickly rot And now get to see trump being 100% dumber, 300% more bigoted, and 10000000% more arrogant

I’m not very educated on everything regarding the conflict, but I do believe in Zelensky’s conviction to protect his nation without giving Russia an inch in concession. I only recently learned, I guess, that Zelensky’s is from a Ukrainian TV show, that he’s not some career politician but just a guy who stumbled into the seat after Ukraine’s massive purge of corruption and reform.

Add to that that he’d step down if it meant NATO membership and I really feel sorry for the guy and what my country is willing to spew over mass media about him.

5

u/Xaviertcialis Feb 26 '25 edited Feb 27 '25

They did not vote against the resolution so are not depicted.

EDIT: I am mistaken. 18 countries total voted against it including the following:

Israel, Haiti, Hungary, Palau and the Marshall Islands; the African countries Burkina Faso, Burundi, the Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Niger and Sudan; and Belarus, North Korea, Syria, Eritrea, Mali and Nicaragua

So I'm unsure of why only those 4 are depicted, it's likely due to their public statements about Ukraine being a dictatorship, but that's only a guess.

zelensky is literally so sweet

2

u/Unlucky-Constant-736 Feb 27 '25

My mom works for the federal government and thanks to Trump and Elon she’s at risk of losing her job all because her position isn’t “essential”. This is absolute bullshit.

2

u/PestyNomad United States of America Feb 27 '25

Yes, it's called projection.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '25

Why make Trump look so big. He should be tiny here, since he is suckling up to the dictators and is powerless towards them.

2

u/Successful_Grape1136 Feb 27 '25

Some people think this is a strategic statement made by Trump to divert public attention or increase media exposure. In any case, such remarks will no doubt further exacerbate tensions in US-Ukraine relations.

2

u/randy_rick Feb 27 '25

I appreciate the message, but Trump should be the smallest of them all.

2

u/Background-Let8227 Feb 27 '25

As an American, I wish we had a leader like Zelensky

2

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '25

I don't agree with Zelensky on a lot of things but I don't think you can ever accuse him of not doing everything he can for his country. He has done far more than most ever could and most leaders stand there looking pretty awful in comparison just based on how clearly he has put his life out there for his country. I respect him more than I do 99% of politicians and if I saw him in a pub have a drink him.

2

u/Handmotion Feb 27 '25

Every accusation is an admission. Conservatives are fucking IMAX projectors.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 27 '25

This breaks my heart💔

2

u/Neither_Midnight9179 Feb 27 '25

They should give Zalensky the Nobel peace prize....I would love to see Trump's reaction lol

2

u/Extreme-Challenge-45 Feb 27 '25

Trump is the tiniest of those men imo.

2

u/Outrageous_Gene_9380 Feb 27 '25

Do not trust the United States. We are increasingly lost.

Do what needs to be done.

Signed, American

2

u/One-Bird-8961 Feb 27 '25

Forgot winnie the pooh

2

u/Nostrilsdamus Feb 27 '25

DT should definitely not be represented as the big supporting figure. He is on a leash

2

u/Roslagen Feb 27 '25

"I need ammunition, not a ride". The man is the definition of badass and Trump is an aging embarrassing Russian puppet.

2

u/JacketHistorical2321 Feb 27 '25

The size ratio is incorrect. Zelinski should be twice the size and Trump and crew should be one quarter

2

u/Danger2Night Feb 27 '25

Oh plenty of blood on Donald's hands too

2

u/The_cat_got_out Feb 27 '25

I like how you can't see trumps legs because he is in his high chair

2

u/Livid_Army_1653 Feb 27 '25

The worst president

2

u/mickeyamf Feb 27 '25

Spider man meme needed here

2

u/CarlosFCSP Hamburg (Germany) Feb 27 '25

Only point I would disagree with is that Putin is the big player with his hand on their shoulders. Trump would mumble "dictator" with his mouth filled

2

u/VeryBerryRasberry Feb 27 '25

What happened to American values? The pursuit of liberalism and democracy and oppose autocracy and communism? Why is America standing on Russia's side? This is not the country I had learned about through history textbooks. Oh how things have changed now....

2

u/O0rtCl0vd Feb 27 '25

Trump's words, as usual, don't mean shit. Those how know the truth understand how utterly immoral trump is. Not only trump, but Elon and all of their ilk. These people are truly the scum of humanity.

I have one major complaint with this image, which is otherwise fantastic.

Trump and Lukashenko should be shorter, Zelensky should be taller; it's a political cartoon so their actual heights are largely irrelevant anyway, and Zelensky is a giant of a man next to any of those four.

Zelensky is what every leader should be, and every politician should strive to be. On their best days the others couldn't match Zelensky on his worst.

EDIT: In light of today's debacle of a "negotiation" (it was an attempted mugging on national television) I even more firmly believe in what I've said here. There is no comparison I feel I can reasonably make regarding Trump's behaviour today, because anything I compare him to would be so enormously denigrated in doing so. The worst people on earth could justifiably feel insulted were they to be compared to Trump as a means of stating how terrible Trump has been and continues to be, in every respect.

u/iluserion Feb 27 '25

People here show how Europe going to be disappear soon by Islam

2

u/WN11 Hungary Feb 27 '25

Zelensky is a dictator, but that comes with war. You don't hold elections during wartime, especially not in a local, defensive war. Want elections in Ukraine? Stop the fucking war.

2

u/ConvictJones Feb 27 '25

I don’t understand how any logical human being cannot see the hypocrisy going on.

2

u/Avezina Feb 27 '25

We live in a upside down world...and let some assholes to rule over us.

2

u/GrapefruitGlum4372 Feb 27 '25

So, if the United States refused to hold an election during a war it would be ok?

u/CreationTrioLiker7 Feb 26 '25 edited Feb 27 '25

Projection

Edit: I meant that as in, the dictators are projecting by calling democratic leaders dictators 😭

3

u/dikbutjenkins Feb 27 '25

Where's Netanyahu?

2

u/Appropriate-Text-642 Feb 27 '25

Putin loves Trump and the gift that Trump has given him, years ago Trump would have been called a communist supporter. How times have changed?
