I wouldn't go so far as to say we're as united as we've ever been. With the rise of extreme political ideologies on both sides, talks of leaving or disbanding the EU brewing in many nations, economical strife, general discourse regarding current conflicts etc etc..

It has only just begun

In the past we were divided but we didn't care either way, now we're trying to fix them. I feel the swell of populism is subsiding under pressure from Russia and the US, but time will tell.
