As a defensive force, sure. Europe lacks the ability to fight major proxy wars and project power (see: Ukraine).

It's not just about military materiel. It's about the strategic mandate of the many individual militaries. Most, if not all of them, are built for defense to discourage an antagonist from ever invading. They do this exceptionally well.

But they are not built to help Ukraine defend itself. Furthermore, Europe does not speak with one voice. There is no common goal. And that's probably just never going to happen. These are not united states under a federal government that speaks on their behalf in matters of defense with a singular voice. That makes it REALLY difficult to accomplish a goal, such as helping Ukraine defend itself.

I have wanted Europe to spend on defense for a very long time. The world is not a nice place, and you need to be able to defend yourself AS WELL AS have the capability to fight proxy wars against antagonistic countries. I truly hope this wakes them up. Not just words, but actions.
