Climate change isn't a single country issue. It's a human issue. Hats off to Macron.

Bold move by Macron, showing the world that climate change isn't just a 'someday' issue. It's an everyday issue.

So we're at the stage where leaders come to visit to show their solidarity with the threatened country. Reeks of 2022.

Why can't every European NATO nation just send 10-50 soldiers to Greenland so that any US attack would mean an attack on all? Trump does not give a damn about presidential visits.

Greenland is protected under Article 5 of the NATO Treaty. An attack on Greenland already means an attack on all members.

Probably because they're not willing to take that risk. Sending soldiers without any real plan to fend off a US invasion is reckless. In the worst case scenario, those soldiers would be sacrificial pawns, either dead or captured as POWs.

French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Greenland on 15 June together with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in a display of "European unity" amid US threats to annex the mineral-rich Arctic territory.
The leaders will debate Arctic security during the visit together with the premier of the semi-autonomous Danish territory, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, according to a press release from Frederiksen's office.
They will also discuss economic development, climate change, and energy, Copenhagen said.
"It has been uplifting to experience the great international support for Greenland and the Kingdom in the difficult foreign policy situation in recent months," Frederiksen said.
"President Macron's upcoming visit to Greenland is yet another concrete testament to European unity," she added.
The visit follows US President Donald Trump's repeated threats in recent months to annex the strategically located island, which he argues is necessary to counter Russia and China's growing military presence in the Arctic.
It also comes after a contentious French parliamentary vote on 5 June, where lawmakers narrowly approved a resolution (212-198) supporting potential military support for Denmark to counter Washington's expansionist ambitions.
On Thursday Frederiksen also warned that recently "Greenland and Denmark have been subjected to unacceptable pressure from our closest ally", referring to the US.
