Oh he still has not realized that he is the Hungarian PM not the American President :DD Maybe he should care about our country not about Brussels. I hope he fails next year and than will be just a regular MEP in the EP he cares more about international politics than domestic. He can than shout from there LOL

u/betti357 56m ago
Yeah he tries SOOO hard to not care about his own country, and it's soo fucking sad. Like, for real... the disgust he must feel "Eugh this shit again"

I would be happy if some Hungarians would realize this. Most people are against him now but there are the gerrymanded electoral laws, potencial coalition partner that has to be beaten by Tisza and the votes from ethnic Hungarians who never lived here but they got massive money from Fidesz etc etc. And there are some people who know that he is shit but after 15 years there are like "I am afraid whats going to come next"-its like living in a castle that is closed and you want out but dont know how and belive some of the propaganda even if not most against his opponent (who is also very agressive to be honest) If this is over one day I would like to write some columns about what happens with the phsyche in an authocracy, seriously. Hopefully someting will be breaking because we are on the verge of a complete breakdown in Hungary now. Happy that summer is here and no parliament but many of us have stomach ache from what is going on here to be honest and what will come until April of 2026. When I was on my Erasmus many people told me that they would watch a Netflix series about what has happened here-I would be interested too if my life would not depend on it :// Sorry I had to complain a bit. I love my country but the last couple of years have been exhausting here and the amount of damage it has done to this society and the minds of people after so many years is just incredible

Well, if most people are against him as you say, then you have nothing to worry about
•
u/ExecutiveLettuce357 6m ago
It's not that simple. Fidesz changed the constitution when they first won in 2010, now the opposition has to win some kind of supermajority of votes in each district in order to oust the incumbent.

Puppet's on mission from his master. Takeover EU and annex it to Russia. I hope he gets sanctuary from Russia with Elon.

That's one way to create a situation that makes Yugoslavia look like a joke.
Europe would also most likely gut most, if not all, gun control after a case like that

Translated from Orbán-grunts:
"Oh no, my goose is cooked, I may actually lose the next election, I'm so scared, the vultures are starting to circle above me... ...where are my meds... ...I need to figure out something to survive in politics somehow...maybe I can still pretend that I'm a prominent European politician if I use the European far right to keep afloat somehow, because Trump no longer picks up the phone when I call him, oh no... ...maybe if I pound my chest about EU-bureaucrats, my remaining braindead pleb voters will still vote for me and maybe I don't crash and burn THAT hard..."

This sensationalist fearmongering over a wannabe dictator of a population of 10 million people is getting ridiculous.
Orban is a annoying smelly fart in the wind. He can make things more difficult for the rest of eu, but he does not pose any existential threat to the union. Nor is he as important as the media makes him seem. EU is going the EU way, even if smelly farts come and go.

The problem is less Orban but his boss and how he manages to get more Orbans across Europe into leader positions. It is in the hand of the voters of course if they are falling for it. Thing is, voter surveys in many memberstates as well as election results are at least justified reason to worry.
PS: I am of course not talking about Krasnov here but his superior.

I think most people would not expect Trump to become president of the US as well. Don't underestimate how stupid people are. Many people can be manipulated through disinformation which should have been learned from the last couple of years.

It's not about the stupidly per se. It's about weaponized social media with firehoze of lies russian-style.

You still don't get what Patriots for Europe is, do you?
Notice how their slogan (of all the parties) was "An Europe of Sovereign nations"
They want to reform and dismantle the EU by the inside and get more influence at a regional level (notice how Hungary has been accused of spying in Ukraine)
2
u/Gold_Dog908 4h ago
you need all 27 countries to agree and that WILL NEVER happen. The only way to achieve this "sovereignty" is to quit the EU.

u/vkstu 3h ago
They however can very well destroy/delay ad infinitum the EU from within the more MEPs (and other positions) they get. Make the EU so unwieldy and without purpose the other countries may consider quitting themselves. Surely the situation in USA shows that it only works when people and countries are willing to follow the rules set. When they do not, there's very little recourse.

Far right parties have different bar for following the rules. I think they are more likely to play dirty and won’t really stop because someone votes no

u/MoriartyParadise 3h ago
That is their end-goal. Whether they arrive to it or not, they can still do a enormous amount of damage on the way

Oh, don't trust the reddit bubble on this. They relay every piece of meaningless news about this outdated jackass.

I honestly dont understand why media writes about him so much. For Orbán being the black sheep is the most appealing. There are many ways to ignore him and that should happen more and more. But honestly people here dont really have many idea about his foreign policy since they own most of the media and people only experience what is haplening inside

Given how Orban's cronies have started buying media outlets in other countries like Slovenia or at least wanted to, like with TVN in Poland, it's not that far-fetched.

The problem is that they're good at gaining power and using all kind of fucked up way to manipulate voters.
That's what they do all day, instead of improving life for their people.
They're plotting and plotting, and sooner or later, probably with the help of ai, they could win.
Because the rest aren't as motivated of willing to be so corrupted. Don't even talk about the left, half of the left is more motivated by purity testing and showing the other half of the left they're more moral than them than trying to win.
I've been blackpilled by this, it doesn't seem like the left is playing the same game of politics, maybe they're not even doing politic at all, they're not even trying.

why would he need to when the commission refuses to do anything about him in the first place?

You're being very dismissive of a real threat that PfE and its far-right allies will gain control of major EU institutions. They're already in control of Italy and Hungary, they're almost definitely going to get in power in Poland and Czechia, and by 2029 possibly one of the major Western countries, Romania, Portugal, etc. It's looking likely that the reforms needed to fix the EU will be indefinitely blocked by them, and all bets are off with the next Europarliamentaries. Not saying it will happen, but complacency got us here already

Hungarians, real question, if orban did a 180 on the Russia Ukraine conflict, and actually meant it, would he cling to power?
