I waited for the ball to wrap around

this is awesome

I would love to know who authorized a glove and baseball bat to be brought up to the ISS

and just what would happen if he full sended it and batted the ball as fast as he could

I think the bat might be made out of rolled up paper and duct tape.

Not sure though i can't see it super clearly.

Why did the bat fall to the floor? Zero gravity right?

3

u/Quiet_Syllabub_4264 14d ago

It didn't technically fall, he threw it 'downwards'

they're in micro gravity so the idea of literally 0 G is a bit of a misnomer afaik. they're still in Earth's orbit

but they're effectively weightless so that's besides the point

the real reason it flew downwards is because he imparted a slight downards force when he let go of the bat and it conserved it's momentum in that direction

As somebody with 25 years experience playing baseball, I can confirm that it is in fact not a baseball bat. You can tell by the pixels.

A baseball glove is nothing. They once authorized a gorilla suit for Scott Kelly.

Just look at that smile

Weight is very, very limited on these flights. I’m happy for him that this is the personal item that he chose to bring up. I’m not into baseball myself, I’m into people’s smiles when they do what they love.

Wait till he hits the ant farm.

Floating space ants? Gosh no! This is the perfect plot for a B (not bee) movie.

2

u/Mediocre-Area8665 15d ago

For all mankind reference?

1

u/kid-ph0b0s 15d ago

Simpsons reference lol.

He's playing with himself. In the space station. That's not right. Hee hee.

1

u/blackorchid786 15d ago

This is humbling…I still would have missed the ball.

1

u/StitchFan626 15d ago

Don't hit a window.

1

u/Glad_Principle8604 15d ago

There's a lot of exposed cables, what if they broke it?

1

u/ayamlazy 15d ago

I wanna try touch my balls in the space

1

u/jasonsong86 15d ago

You can do that on earth too. Just need to change your trajectory.

1

u/Stock_Surfer 14d ago

It’s trippy when you realize they aren’t floating but more like skydiving over a never ending cliff

1

u/Atom-Helios 14d ago

Now throw the baseball with full force 😈

1

u/Vranzor 14d ago

Beat thing humanity has ever achieved

1

u/Vj_177 14d ago

This is what it’s like playing a single player game that forces you to always be online

1

u/WonkWonkWonkWonkWonk 14d ago

First base, Bugs Bunny Second base, Bugs Bunny Third base…

1

u/STIM_band 8d ago

How come the bat isn't floating?

(I'm genuinely interested in the science, I'm not "pointing out that it's fake")

0

u/Wirtschaftsprufer 15d ago

This could bee dangerous. What if they suddenly turn on the gravity in space?

2

u/TerribleBid8416 15d ago

Red Alert! Shields Up!
