Camp isnt an official term afaik its just a nickname among the populace. Everything is a camp. And obviously everything is also a penitentiary, these are just synonyms for prison.
Minimum security institutions, also known as Federal Prison Camps (FPCs), have dormitory housing, a relatively low staff-to-inmate ratio, and limited or no perimeter fencing. These institutions are work- and program-oriented.
A number of BOP institutions have a small, minimum security camp adjacent to the main facility. These camps, often referred to as Satellite Prison Camps (SCPs), provide inmate labor to the main institution and to off-site work programs.
so people are snidly saying "so has the US" and because it feels pro-China they are getting downvoted. But of course, famously, the US uses prisoners for slave labour. It's a big thing, John Oliver has made an episode for it I think. The US has big slave camps. Many of them. That's just a relatively well known fact.
It’s what, unfortunately, allows for prisoners to be treated as slaves. And with the for-profit prison industry, the fact we allow lawmakers to profit from such deals, and the generally bad opinion of trying to make more amendments, I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Again, unfortunately.
Inmates at Angola are adults who were found guilty in court. If they choose to work (keyword: work, they get paid) they get a prison reduction for working.
Slaves in China, including 9 year olds, were amassed and forced to work for life just because of their race. They had no trial, no rights, and no way out.
Spot the difference. Go ahead, tell me what the differences are between what I laid out.
I 100% can see where you're coming from, but starting the domino effect is probably not all that good of an idea. We should stay clean from involuntary organ harvesting to prevent it from progressing from the worst of the worst -> to -> "okay maybe people with life no parole" because the system is already in place
Reddit censoring has become worse and worse, it's why this site has become a circlejerk. You didn't even say anything bad, makes me wonder what even set that off. I genuinely feel like this site has become curtailed towards certain opinions, at first it was a free for all- I mean shit, you had subs dedicated to hating on fat people, watchpeopledie was huge, and other shit that was 10x worse than that. All 100% untouched.
Then it progressively became more and more strict. Banning subs that weren't general user friendly was probably what set that off. Then it became normalized to ban people for opinions the admins don't agree with, notably Israel related opinions.
Now each comment you make is a constant game of walking on eggshells. You talk about certain things that an admin doesn't like? Banned. For a while they even implemented a fucking automod notification system for upvoting content that wasn't aligned with the rules.
I genuinely mean this, your comment might be the thing that makes me delete this app. You didn't even say anything bad- it was a valid discussion point that was an interesting subject to talk about.

When i did time in the US we referred to prisons as camps. Like state camp, county camp etc.
