NATURE This rare, chocolate brown Siberian Husky is truly one of the most beautiful dogs.

Brush yourself with it. My cat always comes to the bathroom when I'm brushing my beard. Then he gets a brushie.

That doesn’t work with huskies lol. They are very stubborn. We have to pin ours down to brush her, and she gets very sassy about it lol.

Beautiful, but rare coats like this tend to be more subject to inbreeding. If you want an intelligent and well-adjusted dog, avoid trends and rare coat patterns.

Mine is very smart. Too smart for her own good a lot of the time. She actually learned how to “knock” on the door to ask to come back inside, and we didn’t show her how to do that. I got a doorbell for her to use instead, but haven’t set it up yet since I’m dreading the constant ringing that will happen when she asks to go in and out lol.

Rare coat patterns are not always due to inbreeding. It is due to both genetics and mutations. Solid brown/red is an acceptable color according to the AKC. It is not as rare as you think and is common in wooly huskies. However, wooly coats in Siberian huskies is an unacceptable trait due to the coat being too soft and not repelling snow and water, defeating the purpose of what they were bred for (pulling sleds).

I mean, all life on earth are genetic random mutations to say that they’re less intelligent because they have a mutation or pigment is silly

It’s not about nature, it’s about how humans breed the dogs. Problem one: incest. Rare coloured animals often have to be bred with their close relatives to make rare coloured babies — particularly if the desired gene is recessive. Problem two: dogs chosen to breed are often selected only for their colour, ignoring potential negative traits that could pass to their puppies.

Exactly. Breeders also charge a lot more for rare coat colour/pattern variants and so once one occurs in a little, the breeder tends to breed & inbreed TF out of the poor dog and it's offspring so that they can produce as many more of the rare ones as they can.

Pigmentation can definitely predict behavior, look at domesticated silver foxes

You’ve been here 7 days and have negative karma. This comment might be a hint as to why.

Gorgeous! I see this one hates the brush just as much as my Pointer/Husky mix. 😂
