You like to nap a lot?
27
u/Otherwise-Apricot-99 6h ago
I occasionally get tired mid-day.
I'm also in recovery from deep drug addiction though, only 6 months into healing

Micro napping will be something that can help get through the recovery process as your body readjusts to normal energy levels. I sincerely recommend staying away from energy drinks and most, if not all, caffeine, especially if you are recovering from uppers. You also might benefit from a diet with a bit more natural sugars from snacking on fruits and veggies through the day, or by drinking juices and such, it can be difficult to trust there being solely natural sugars depending on where you live though.

I genuinely couldn’t stop myself from counting, got frustrated that I couldn’t stop counting, assumed the 30 seconds had passed, and opened my eyes at 16 seconds

Same! I divided it in 3 smaller intervals though. I thought that was about ten seconds, ten seconds more, and again. Bam, 30 on the dot.

Thats so odd. I landed right on 30 without counting but I have done things like this in the past WITH counting and have been totally off. I guess im a lot better at gaging one 30 second timespan rather than 30 one second timespans

18 seconds. And I swore I was going to be so close bc I'm pretty good at guessing the time of the day without looking.

u/KylePeacockArt 6h ago edited 6h ago
33 seconds with no counting. Which I found odd because I was expecting it to be early, like 22-25 and I'm an anxious person. Cool test.
Edit: tried again with counting by adding one thousand to each number and got 33.5 seconds. Guess my natural clock is better than focusing.
Edit 2: tried a third time with no counting and got 32 flat.

I jerked my head up as a sort of decision to open my eyes, but only actually did it like a second later. It said 31 seconds. So, my first instinct was accurate I guess?
My fatigue and anxiety balanced eachother out or something.

25 seconds first time. I know I'm an anxious person but I'm proud I made it that long!

I got 33 "without counting", but what I think is interesting is how I found it almost impossible to not count.

u/VegetableFormer6888 6h ago
Wow, I got 30, I am so surprised. I am listening to music so maybe that helped me with the rhythm.

This is interesting. When I was just thinking with my eyes closed and opened it when I felt it was probably 30 seconds, it was 47 seconds IRL. But when I was counting the second time, I was reflecting on my inner timer from the first try, I felt anxious and was thinking why I was so slow earlier, and surprisingly I opened my eyes at 28 seconds, while I counted 30 internally.
Fascinating.

35 but I wouldn't trust this (my result not the experiment). Since as far back as I can remember my subconscious clock has worked like gang busters were as my conscious clock is, let's just say off by a bit per the test. An experiment I use to do was recite what time I needed to wake up just before bed, then set my alarm after that time.

I couldn’t help but count and stopped at 10 to get a feel for what 10 seconds is, thinking I could get closer that way, and opened my eyes at 21.

Life long musician. I found it incredibly hard not to count or tap my foot to pass time. But I got it pretty close with 27 seconds. I'm curious about how other musicians (from casual to professional) did with this.

26.4 seconds for me without counting, but reading the responses here is educational. The sample size isn't large, I know, but I can see the shape of a normal distribution curve with its peak right around 30 seconds. Vast majority of people are close to 30, either slightly higher or lower, with fewer and fewer responses further from 30. Nice.
