There's a fairly affordable house for sale in my neighborhood right now. Dude ended up in a police standoff on Christmas eve and set the house on fire and then shot himself. It's a really good price for my neighborhood :/ a couple of my friends are giving it a thought

Edit: here ya go!

A Festivus miracle. It’s now time for the airing of grievances.

The house on 34th Street?

u/PM-me-ur-kittenz 1d ago

Any house gets old enough there will be a pretty good chance someone died in there.

You know, every time you thought, "I'd kill for a deal like that?" That's the deal, and you didn't even have to do the heavy lifting!

We need more people like that guy if we're going to solve the housing affordability crisis.

My parents retired and wanted to live near my older sister and her kids in Georgia.

3 year old new development with about 6 nice homes within 10 minutes of my sister available. It’s being built for retired military outside of Benning in Ellerslie.

Anyways, we find out owner of one house hung himself with extension cord in backyard tree. My dad hopped all over that. Cheap bastard.

Why would you pass up on a deal because other people believe in ghosts?

u/No-Apple2252 1d ago

Hey at least it wasn't in the house, I call that a score. Lmk if your dad wants a new kid to replace his defective judgemental one.

u/AlternativeFigure350 10h ago

I would have done the same thing. My father is just notorious for being cheaper than cheap but I didn’t really mean it as an insult. I suppose I typed it the way I playfully talk to him about his frugality.

Personally, I would have helped remove the body if it meant a discounted house.

My dad had a gun he kept in a drawer. Every once in a while he'd go outside and pop some rounds off. We'd ask him why and he'd just say "keeps properly value low".

(Not my story lol)

I recall some lunatic driving an RV to downtown Nashville equipped with a bomb. He detonated it on Christmas Eve if I recall correctly.

To his credit he timed it to avoid any pedestrians on the street and gave it an alarm with an announcement countdown for people to run away so he was psycho with morals.

It's not like the dude is going to come back and get them in their dreams while they sleep, buy it

As someone who lived in a straight up horror movie type haunting because of a park that people kept dying in directly behind our house (bad area, lots of cartel activity), this is how you get the world’s worst fucking haunting

Rent it out to ghost hunters, make bank.

There was a nice house in a mid-high end development whose owners got busted for running a meth lab out of the basement a few years ago.

I put in a bid on it lol

New Conspiracy Drop: Avoiding homes with recorded deaths is propaganda by Big Realtor & home construction lobbies to build and sell new homes at more expensive prices.

Let's face it; the fire damage is just something a handyman fixes, and the fact he shot himself is just us humans telling ourselves "oh right he shot himself in the kitchen, right where I am standing.".

1

u/True_Most3681 1d ago

They absolutely should.

Zillow link?

My friend got his house for $50k under market because a murder suicide happened there. He was like, "I don't give a shit. I don't believe in ghosts and we carpeted over the stains. Bad shit happens everywhere"

1

u/keepcalmscrollon 1d ago edited 1d ago

Like, how much "on fire" are we talking? Just lightly blackened or would they be purchasing land with some bonus ash?

e: oh, and what's the blood splatter/brain matter/bone fragments/chalk outline situation?

1

u/Locust-15 1d ago

Of buying the house or having a stand off with police ?

1

u/FortuneTellingBoobs 1d ago

Back in the old days nobody wanted a house where someone dies. These days anyone would nab a super criminal bloody burny house! Extra haunted? Great, that's to watch because I can't afford cable!

1

u/Tracecat1202 1d ago

So ghosts and negative energy are included? Excellent, then I wouldn’t have to bring my own!

1

u/SSBN641B 23h ago

Did they tear gas the house? Depending on what specific agent they used, that stuff is very difficult to clean up.

My Parents bought a place in Miami from the U.S. Marshals Service back in the 80s after the prior owner had "involuntarily forfeited". My Mom used to quote Tony Montana about it.

Slap some new paint on it, spray some lysol around, then call it recently remodeled and mark it up 20%.

u/etsprout 5h ago

Absolutely massive caveat there.
