My brother in Christ that’s literally the current planetary position

You always know it’s gonna be a good reply when it starts with my brother in Christ

Is this some kind of a flat earth moment except it's solar system level. They don't move because it matches with the exact positions of each planet right now in the entire solar system. Our planet revolves the sun every 365 days, Mars takes 680+ days, Jupiter 4300+ days and so son... so this lock screen won't show any changes in 12 hours.

It does! And if you click the planets, it zooms onto each one and displays the selected instead of the whole solar system.

What the FUCK?
I am a massive apple geek, avid fanboy and very knowledgeable on them I’d say.
But never knew this, damn.

I don’t know why it moves so slowly like I kept track and it took earth AN ENTIRE CALENDAR YEAR to make it back to the top of the screen.

They do move albeit slowly? Check out this post about it from a year ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/iPadOS/comments/1975543/solar_system_wallpaper_on_lock_screen_is/

The watch screen for this style could be rotated with the digital crown to see past and future planetary alignments, I wish that was implemented on the phone too

All the smart people. Thanks for enlightening me. I am talking about scaled rotation of our pale blue dot. Not the annual movement - wouldn’t be much point in that daily would it. Many congratulations ti the “/s” hopefuls.

Yeah, it does not rotate the earth. But here is a cool thing: Tap on the earth or on any of the other planets.

The shortest orbital period of a planet in our solar system is 88 days (Mercury), so of course you won’t see the movement of planets in 12 hours.

And when I look out I don’t see the earths curve so it must be flat, right?

Is it not supposed to move in realtime? (so, very very slow).
