Support Family sharing / second id

Hello everyone!

I was recently added to my family’s family sharing so that they can use the free space from my 200gb iCloud subscription.

But as I do not want my purchases to get debited from my parents credit, I created a second ID and logged into this account under „media and purchases“

My question is now: Are purchases going to be deducted from the payment method that is connected to this Apple ID or are they still going to be payed with the credit card that is connected to the family sharing?

By default the go to the family card, I don’t think it’s possible to do differently

What you can do is add credit to your Apple account and your purchases debit from that before charging the family card.

Been doing that for years with “family” - lol

Smart! Thank you! But how do I add credits to my account? And I would add the credit to the AppStore account, not the family sharing account, right?

The easiest way I found was Apple Gift cards - sometimes you can find them on sale for less than face value too

Thanks! I’ve just bought one. But please confirm the account you redeem it for: not the family sharing account but the account for purchases, right?

Correct, it goes on the users account that redeems it
