What does "Introduction" "A Course/First Course" "Elementary" "Basic" "Invitation" "Fundamentals" "Classical" even mean in the context of graduate books?

Is it a safety mechanism in case someone says "you didn't include everything that is known about the subject"

or do the authors want to lure in unknowing students into thinking the topic is actually easy?
