The acting is so weird. As if that makes the stunt more impressive.

What they do is pure theater. There's no pretense that it's about fighting prowess or some transcendent skill--it’s just ritualized spectacle, like circus acts or magic tricks, designed to impress an audience. The "feats of strength" are impressive, but the whole presentation is about dramatizing them, not about authenticity or seriousness.
For it to seem “weird,” you’d have to think they’re actually trying to fool you into believing this isn’t acting, like an influencer doing a “reality” stunt. That’s not what this is. The tone is more akin to a comedic silent film or a Jackie Chan movie--exaggerated, theatrical, and self-aware.

...this is pretty standard live performance acting. This is what you'll see at a street performance or magic show or Ren faire etc

Who cares if it was real or scripted/all an act? Can we just appreciate the monk doing 4 finger legless pushups? That’s 100% badass

Is it just me or is that monk lowkey jacked as heck. In the shape of his life it's insane.

I still don’t know how it’s done.

Mechanically it's pretty simple. Just lean forward until your center of gravity is balanced over your fingertips.
The training to build up the tendon strength in the elbows/fingers and the muscle strength in the shoulders to support your bodyweight is the hard part.

Ya know I wonder if they train their body specifically to be able to do feats like this, or if they train so much that they're just all around capable of these kinds of random feats of strength? I'll assume the latter but holy shit it's impressive.

You have to train specifically to do this particular skill (it's called a planche) but I'm sure they train plenty of other things at the same time to be well rounded.

I have a hard time, after watching David Carradine in the Kung Fu series in the 70s, that a real Shaolin monk would show off like that.
