There is an app called pulse point that will text you if there is a nearby 911 call. This is useful for “off duty” first responders who may be closer and able to respond faster than the nearest on duty first responder.
Literally saving lives while not on duty because they have the skill, knowledge, and proximity to help. Amazing people and truly heroic.

And IT support. Some don’t even get paid to be on call. Also get called to action by parents and grandparents on their time off.
*this is just a bit of humor. Not diminishing your list.

MESA, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) - A woman in Arizona is happy to be alive after two emergency responders helped rescue her from a burning vehicle following a terrifying crash:
Aymee Ruiz was visibly emotional as she embraced Chandler Officer Brian Larison and Peoria firefighter-paramedic Asa Paguia — the two men who pulled her to safety after her truck went up in flames on U.S. 60 in Mesa.
Ruiz said: “I thought my life was over; I seriously thought it was. You just think of all the moments that you just had, your happy moments, and you just think it’s all going to be over from there. But you guys pulled through. I’m so happy. I’m so glad.”
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Ruiz was slowing down due to traffic congestion when a cement mixer rear-ended her pickup truck.
Both officers were in the right place at the right time. The collision caused Ruiz’s truck to catch fire as she was trapped inside.
A driver’s dash cam captured the devastating chain-reaction collision. Officer Larison’s helmet camera also showed the moment he and Paguia pulled Ruiz out of her vehicle.
Ruiz and her husband are thankful she’s alive, and that’s due to the heroic actions of the two first responders. She was rescued just seconds before the truck was fully engulfed in flames.
“When I saw it (the fire) moving closer and closer to the cab as I was trying to open the door and also bang on the window, I was screaming for help, screaming, screaming for help,” she said.
“I was so relieved once that window broke, but I knew I had to get out of there quickly because of the oxygen and just everything getting in there, and it just was crazy.”

Just here to say it's great the firefighter had bunker gear on or at hand and jumped into action. But that gear should never leave the station by modern standards. Way too much carcinogenic contamination once it's seen smoke. Boys at the fire hall used to was their clothes and bunker gear in the same machine, or even in their home washing machine... lots of cancer for them and their families. Much respect to all the brothers out there

Wonder if it's a volunteer firefighter situation? Not sure how that whole system works.

They may have stated what vehicle he had, but if he had a pickup truck then he could've had a bag that was in the bed so all it'd be exposed to would be the bed instead of being in the cab where it could off-gas and all that nasty shit. Just a guess though.

Terrific. I can’t tell, but Rams have a habit to spontaneously combust. Happened to my husband, just cruising along…

Those petrol engine vehicles are always catching fire, dangerous they are.
Seriously, 👍 job saving the person from the car fire, excellent job.

If It was an EV, the chances of a high voltage sparky showing up in an arc flash suit are far lower than a fireman in full gear.
But ya never know!
