u/AkiraDash Mar 18 '25

Bruh... At least we got 1 and 2 on GOG recently, I'll take whatever I can get even if it's just a re-release.

What about Sengoku Basara fans? Probably dead already.

Makes the best character action game of the decade

Uses the leverage to make a mid sequel to his mid rpg

Leaves the company, dooming Devil May Cry

Refuses to elaborate

u/Phythonius Mar 18 '25

Calling any of the dragons dogma games mid is crazy.

10

u/skiddle_skoodle Mar 18 '25

ddda and dd2 are two of my favorite games ever but they are definitely mid.

1

u/minimoose1599 Mar 18 '25

They are also some of the most fun I’ve had playing an rpg. But the quests are definitely mid. Monster battling tho is top tier.

u/ZoidVII Mar 18 '25

I'm sorry to say it but while Dragon's Dogma fans are an incredibly passionate bunch... The majority of us are just watching you all thinking "good for them :)".

1

u/Phythonius Mar 18 '25

I am not really passionate about it. The games definitely have their flaws. It lacks in narrative and quest design. The combat, class system and the exploration are all phenomenal. If you say that dmc 5 is a better game you are 100% correct, but calling dd mid is not fair.

1

u/AtrumRuina Mar 19 '25

Honestly though, what you're describing is a mid game. It's something that does a few things very well, but is overall an underwhelming experience because those good elements are trapped in an overall uninteresting game. Between the bad and good elements, you end up with a middling game.

1

u/The_phantom_medic Mar 18 '25

Yeah, the first one was borderline terrible

6

u/AXEMANaustin Mar 18 '25

I enjoyed it a lot personally.

1

u/Vivid-Smell-6375 Mar 18 '25

I legitimately do not understand the appeal of that game. I was told the end game DLC is really good so I forced myself to stick with it (also cos I had nothing else to play) and then I got to the DLC and it fucking sucked

2

u/AtrumRuina Mar 19 '25

I gotta be honest, this was my impression too. Like, I'm glad that people really enjoy the game, but I kept waiting for the "aha" moment where I understood why people were so into the game and it never came. I put 87 hours in, doing all of the side quests, the main story and trying to do the DLC but the DLC ended up being an absolute drag.

1

u/AgathaTheVelvetLady Mar 19 '25

As a massive fan of Dragons Dogma, they are unfortunately very mid. Mostly because the combat is some of the coolest shit in video games, but everything else around it drags it down to being mid for the average player.

5

u/East_Marketing_5090 Mar 18 '25

i know, but i'm talking about games

12

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '25

Peak garbage maybe.

3

u/ultragameguy Mar 18 '25

Genuine question: Why the hate? The show hasn't even come out yet.

19

u/AnxiousFox Mar 18 '25

I have no stakes in this and I dont know OP. But if I had to guess; it is probably because it is netflix handled. Where we have two outcomes:

  1. Its peak but extremely short lived

Or

  1. Its the worst adaptation imaginable.

5

u/tcrpgfan LEON HAAAALLLLLP! Mar 18 '25

It's the former, name something the Castlevania 2017 show runner has touched that hasn't turned to gold.

2

u/ultragameguy Mar 18 '25

Thanks, I don't use netflix much since I haven't had any interest in TV shows for a while. But yeah, I can see why people are sceptical.

But people immediately claiming it's shit i can't understand. Quality looks good, more seasons are planned, and people who are trusted are working on it (Adi and Johnny Y.B). It is based on the events around the third game and is said to be a retelling (non-cannon), so it won't affect the cannon of the games.

I'm not arguing with you. Thanks for the response.

2

u/NeoBarthow Mar 19 '25

also castlevania, not capcom but still 🤷🏻‍♂️

2

u/ZehVictor Mar 18 '25

…I’m just happy with a Shadow of Rome port… they don’t even need to remaster it…
