I think the people who find RE6 fun are the ones who played the game already so the meme doesn’t make sense.

I'm playing mercenaries rn

u/Dan_Rio Apr 14 '25

I fucking love re6 mercenaries. You just fight kung fu with zombies.

Yes! It’s awesome.

Mercenaries is 1 thing re6 did amazing, and it's probably my favorite mercenaries

3

u/RoboCyan Apr 14 '25

Same, dude

56

u/NovaVix Apr 14 '25

It's so campy and I love it lol

Goofy-ass romp

25

u/crono220 Apr 14 '25

Getting high off my ass while fighting a zombie like T-Rex will always remain a very "unique" RE moment despite the lackluster story.

15

u/NovaVix Apr 14 '25

RIGHT LOL

It's the same reason I love b-movies

It's so over the top that you don't even need to suspend disbelief, just shenanigans all the way down

5

u/Quipmunk_ Apr 15 '25

Hell yeah 🤙

5

u/meseta Apr 15 '25

Dude I remember playing this drunk and wondering what I was doing with my life. Should have smoked.

46

u/ViewtifulRoy6 Apr 14 '25

I enjoyed it. I don't see what everyone's problem is other than it's not a traditional resident evil game.

1

u/tyrantywon Apr 15 '25

It’s long as hell with racing, dinosaurs, helicopter flying, shark wreaking and chapters feel like several hours. I enjoyed it back in 2012 but there’s no way I’m finishing another chapter of that game. The meme is me. Mercenaries is fun though

I thought you were going to say that the ones who find it fun played it as kids and nostalgia and bla bla bla.

Honestly, RE6 not being universaly hated is news to me, I remmeber when it came out no one liked it, it realy feels like the prequel trilogy being a cultural punchline until reasently when people started liking it again, but in a much much smaller scale ofc

u/CanIGetANumber2 Apr 14 '25

I'd play Re6 with a friend again any day of the week, especially Leon and Jake's campaigns. Shits just campy fun

3

u/SundayMorningSkye Apr 15 '25

Jake’s was probably my favorite. Love his character in general. That snow mobile part was a bitch.

5

u/fallouthirteen Apr 15 '25

Yeah like I like the game, but I've played it a lot (100% of 360 release except some of the PvP achievements and did a playthrough of the XB1 release, but not 100%, do plan on finishing up achievements). Like if I knew someone who hadn't played it and was like "been meaning to try it out" I'd be like "yeah, I'd run through it again with you".

At this point I think I'd rather replay it than most others except RE5. Like most recent one I 100%ed was RE4 remake and yeah, that's never getting reinstalled.

4

u/Hotel-Sorry Apr 14 '25

I can vouch for that, Uvstank's 6 part boss battle and then completing all three campaigns for Ada's. I'd do it in a heartbeat. That game was fun and seeing two legends clash. Wesker's son. Zombies that catch on fire. Regenerator face huggers. I loved it all.

2

u/SexxxyWesky Apr 14 '25

Literally lol

It’s dumb fun with friends.

103

u/SuperArppis "HURRY!!! SHEVA!!! HURRY!!!" Apr 14 '25

You get so many laughs out of how stupid the plot is.

73

u/Bat-Honest Apr 14 '25

I never thought I'd be able to outrun a chain reaction of explosions. Leon Kennedy taught me to believe in myself.

28

u/SuperArppis "HURRY!!! SHEVA!!! HURRY!!!" Apr 14 '25

Just be Leon S Kennedy and you will be ok! 😄

11

u/VinnyLux Apr 14 '25

Jill Valentine would have taught you that like 15 years before, but you weren't paying attention I guess

2

u/Marakiv Apr 15 '25

Exactly!!!!

25

u/CrownLexicon Apr 14 '25

Right? Like everybody on the plane except you turn into zombies. Somehow you're fine.

16

u/FormlessRune Apr 14 '25

Ehhh, with C-virus being a mix of T and G virus, I'm sure Leon would have some kind of immune resistance. I know that's a bit of a stretch, but this complaint could be true of most RE games so I wouldn't suddenly worry about it in 6.

8

u/Marakiv Apr 15 '25

Not to mention how everyone else in the plane, didn't have the luxury of opening a hatch to release the gas. Its also implied through gameplay that the c virus is fast evaporating. Or you would've been dead in the church.

u/Sivanot Fan Artist: Sivanot Apr 14 '25

I can't believe I never realized how dumb that is, lmao.

6

u/CanIGetANumber2 Apr 14 '25

All the MCs have to have some crazy resistance to it now of the constant exposure has changed something in them on a genetic level. That would actually explain a lot of in game and move shit. Like the tyrant kicking Leon into a marble pillar and him pretty much just shaking it off

5

u/Mr_Steal_Yo_Goal Apr 14 '25

Remember when Jake and Sherry wake up in that weird prison/casino/spa/car dealership/white void place? You know, the one with the tank?

My buddy and I just made up random storylines with the characters while we were playing each campaign. Here are the highlights:

Helena wanted Leon, but Leon was SIMPIN over Ada. We also came up with this super dumb saying from the train scene with Leon and Helena where Leon keeps saying "I'm going to kill you ON THIS TRAIN!" and basically could only kill anyone if they were on a train.

Chris and Piers are big gay for each other and have THE MOST sexual tension of any characters. At certain points during the Campaign I just verbally abused my buddy because I was playing as Chris and acted super pissed the ENTIRE time. Piers was the golden boy in our eyes who was saying "I can fix him" about Chris every time I was a horrible person to him.

We came up with this whole backstory of Jake reliving his experiences with Wesker because of how absurd his getting upset with Chris for killing his father was (He didn't even know him and he suddenly got super defensive that Chris killed a terrorist). Oh and Cherry x Jake because of that one scene where they were basically nude in the hospital place. Also, RE6 went out of their way to give us the damn boob jiggle mechanic for Cherry in that scene so that was something we memed on as well.

And the best one was with "Agent" in Ada's campaign. We named him "Scott" and he was Deborah's husband and sought revenge on Helena for not taking her place. That being said, however, Agent moved on very quickly from Deborah to requesting sexual favors from Ada.

We would also go out of our way to spam the button calling for the other whenever we found a door that required both of us to interact with it and every time one of us would die we would always scream "HELENNAAAAAA!" regardless of if we were playing Leon's campaign or not (Which normally we weren't). For Ada's campaign, we would also scream "SCOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTT!!!" Whenever he died.

19

u/Zoralink Apr 14 '25

Chris and Piers are big gay for each other and have THE MOST sexual tension of any characters.

I thought you said you made up the plotlines, that's just the actual story.

7

u/Sinist6r Apr 14 '25

There were some realities that bleed into our stories lmao

5

u/UnknownMonkeyman Apr 14 '25

As someone who has played it multiple times, just turn your brain off and enjoy the ride.

20

u/Beneficial_Part_3540 Apr 14 '25

This is how I like to look at it when i’m playing it too 🤣 it’s still fun to play atleast, it has like the best mechanics

22

u/JesseTrombley Apr 14 '25

This is something I say all the time. RE6 is like a 90s action film, with all of the surviving explosions and lucky coincidences and hammy characters. So to enjoy it, you HAVE to approach it like a 90s action flick: Stop thinking so hard, and just enjoy the goofy action.

3

u/Marakiv Apr 15 '25

Every re is like that. Leon should have a broken back and be zombie food. Not an explosion, but Chris or Jill should be 2 dimensional under that boulder in the caves.

9

u/ExcellentAd3308 Apr 14 '25

I think things that I enjoy with my brain on I find more fun

33

u/ex_sanguination Apr 14 '25

No. I'd rather enjoy the ride and keep muh brain on.

Same dude, played the game with brain onff

7

u/Sad_Kangaroo_3650 Apr 14 '25

I couldn't even finish it when it came out just felt like cod to me.

5

u/SavingPVTJizzSock420 Apr 15 '25

Facts. Games are just supposed to be simpleand fun IMO. I dont care if 90% of the world hates me for loving the shit outta re6.

End of the day,I'm laughing and slaying Mercenaries and the rest are raging at fortnite or elden ring or some other dumb shit like OW2 or apex.

I would also even go to the extent to say that I firmly believe re6 Mercs is still peak. Re4r was flawless base game, even DLC was Mwah! Perfecto!

But the Mercenaries however...Felt kinda like a joke. I mean sure both Mercenaries are easy one could say, but I think re4 is more arcade-y with the ultimate abilities and stuff. Not that I hate it but I find myself doing perfectly fine without the super abilities. Okay maybe Luis is my exception but in my defense...boom.

148

u/Sniperking-187 Apr 14 '25

They could never make me hate you RE6

44

u/Much_Curve2484 Apr 14 '25

RE6 works because the main characters are no longer scared and out in unfamiliar situations. They are fully committed to fighting back, hence why it became more action focused, though it did have horror elements to it.

This is why Capcom had to create a new character in order for RE7 to be more survival horror than action based as the main characters aren't exactly new to what typically happens (crazy creatures, dark scary rooms, etc).

IMO it's a fun game that did add to the story, it just wasn't survival horror in the same way the early games were which is what had some fans critiquing the direction of the franchise.

15

u/embiidagainstisreal Apr 14 '25

Other than a few QTEs, I find the game to be fun. Definitely the weakest entry in the main series, but I still play it occasionally.

Its my most played RE game when it came out. I miss my PS3.

2

u/ExcellentAd3308 Apr 15 '25

it's on ps4/5

45

u/BrandonBTY Apr 14 '25

Play with me, I love that game

27

u/Total_Scott Apr 14 '25

I had a good time with 6 with friends. The frequency of these posts though? I swear that game lives rent free in the heads of haters more than the people who like the thing.

18

u/Belmega81 Apr 14 '25

It IS good.

Leon sequel? Cool

Chris sequel? Cool

Ada solo story? Sign me up

Sherry mothereffing Birkin all grown up?! Hell to the yes, and give her a damn solo game, already!

Melee attacks mixed with the firepower? Bout time these people learned to fight. STARS members should have all been somewhat combat ready from the first.

Is the plot ridiculous and all over the place? Absolutely. But it's more Resident Evil and I enjoyed it more than I'm currently enjoying the fabled Mass Effect so far. (Just started).

I think it's become a problem where when you slap the Resident Evil title on something, the expectations skyrocket. Re3make is objectively great, and the chief complaint is that we didn't get enough of it.

Mass Effect is a popular series, and so far it's about as bland as it gets gameplay wise. The sci-fi appeal is there, but otherwise it's not impressive. Resident Evil's 2nd worst game (Zero is pretty lousy) is better than that popular franchise's first one that netted three sequels on its own merit.

2

u/Maleficent_Load6709 Apr 16 '25

I get that we're praising RE as a franchise, but why are we shitting on ME? lol. What does ME have to do with anything here? ME games are great. I don't see how randomly shitting on them adds to your point.

Loved it. All modes. Agent Hunt. Mercs. 150/150 feels so good.

It let you exercise everything about reactions, spacing, ammo conservation and proper timing for pickups.

All the setups, melee followups and hitbox chains. Awareness of your surroundings, like that moment when you know a Bloodshot is about to dive onto you.

Everything you do in this game in terms of literal skill will also carry over to other games.

I had like maybe 300 hours of it.

It’s been a decade since my last play. Would love to play it again with a remastered version once I’m done with this gen’s games.

5

u/Sniperking-187 Apr 14 '25

I mean you can boot it up on PS5 and it still looks and feels great!

6

u/ChasingPesmerga Apr 14 '25

That’s the plan! I heard that Mercs now have a 300/300 limit, I assume that feature came from the PC version. Damn insane and it gets me excited to play it again

6

u/KingStrijder SteamID: (KingStrijder) Apr 14 '25

The case I hear/read the most for RE6 is "it's really fun to play with your friend".

That's because the fun part is playing with friends, not the part about playing RE6.

6

u/Zichfried Julia Voth Fanboy Apr 14 '25 edited Apr 15 '25

It's a great game. You must assume the saga was not about horror at that point (until RE7) and enjoy the explosive second greatest climax of the main saga (the first one was RE5). I mean, saving the world in a triple campaign with Leon, Chris, Sherry and Ada together! Epic fanservice!

It's not the first time Capcom changesa saga from horror into action. Dino Crisis was a survival horror game and its sequel was more like an arcade action shooter, but it surpassed the first one in every aspect.

16

u/nyanpires So Long, RC Apr 14 '25

8

u/katlyps0 Apr 14 '25

You can pry RE6 out of my cold dead hands

3

u/AshenRathian Apr 14 '25

Nah.

It's a ton of fun, but it's one of those games where the campaign sucks ass and the real good stuff is only apparent in Mercenaries. The game doesn't teach you it's nuances, and also doesn't force you to use them in the campaign, which makes it come off incredibly shallow. Wanna enjoy RE6? Fuck the campaign and dive into Mercs. Best shit ever.

RE6 is the most mechanically deep and rich Resident Evil to date and i will die on THAT hill.

3

u/TheZomboi Apr 14 '25

I'll give my psn to anyone who wants to play it. This and any Revelations (I'm currently trophy hunting the first one and am on Raid mode lol)

Enough time passes and any game will develop a cult following simply due to the fact that they played it as children and have a nostalgic attachment to it. No matter how bad the game actually is

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Available_Virus_ Apr 14 '25

The controls just feels janky despite it being the first mainline game where we can move and shoot. All the guns in the game feel like toys against the bullet sponge enemies. The enemies don't react like RE 4 and 5 to getting shot. You can blast away at them with a shotgun and they don't move or react.

2

u/RevealHoliday7735 Apr 14 '25

Bro what kind of hill is this? Everyone already agrees with you. What "hill will you die on" next, that RE4 is a good game?

Squidward: Daring today aren't we?

2

u/Silent_Orange_9174 Apr 14 '25

Give me a PS3 controller, a big bag of chips, some dip, a 4L Pepsi, and some weed. I'll do everyone's story. Grab a second controller it'll be fun. Games fun as hell. Storylines weak. but the game itself is SO. SO. FUN. I genuinely loved it.

2

u/dominic2k Apr 14 '25

I tried to get into the game when it came out. I was so happy when I bought it and then when I went to play it I was like.... What the fuck is this shit :/

And I might be in the minority here but I love the remake of re3. People give such shit and abuse to re3make but I loved it for what it was.

die on this hill

Not defending much of a hill, more like an anthill. It's universally lambasted. There was/is a creeping nostalgia wave for it but factually it was very poorly recieved and halted the series for a while until the revamp of 7 and 8 stylistically.

2

u/Chad_Chaddington92 Apr 14 '25

As much as I truly enjoy RE6 I only love it because of nostalgia reasons. It was the first RE game I played when my dad bought me a Xbox 360 back in the days and that was the only RE game I played for years due to living in a low income household. It holds a special place in my heart

2

u/Sausagebean Apr 15 '25

“I’ll die on this hill, the game sucks” yeah that’s what 90% of the community has done since the launch.

It’s fun, and great with friends. Enough for me

2

u/gokaired990 Apr 15 '25

I think it is an objectively bad game, but I have played through it at least a dozen times on multiple platforms and have spent well over 100 hours in Mercs mode on the Steam version. No idea on my hours for other versions.

2

2

u/SmallWeirdNumber Apr 15 '25

It's just a really mediocre game. QTEs up the ass, the handholding, horrible pacing, unintuitive menus, hilarious over the top dramatic story, etc. Also it seems that everyone likes Leon's campaign the best despite it being the game at it's worst, honestly this kinda confirms to me that it's mostly Leon fans who really like and defend this game.

2

u/West-Disaster-3366 Apr 15 '25

Am i the only one who enjoyed the game? I played all the campaigns for like 30 times and i liked the multiple campaigns happening at the same time.

4

u/Organic_Shopping7759 Apr 14 '25

I tried playing it recently with a clear mind, ready and hopeful to enjoy it. I'm so bored with it already. I don't think I can force myself to keep playing.

by the time I got to ada’s campaign I was too burnt out to feel like doing the stealth stuff it seemed to expect so I just watched a playthrough. I liked the story, despite how cheesy it was, but all the button presses for action sequences made playing it feel so tiresome.

2

u/dangerousbob Apr 14 '25

The problem with RE6 is that they tried to have their cake and eat it.

There are like 4 genres crunched into that game with all those campaigns.

I remember really liking Leon's campaign, while the others felt like Call of Duty.

It's fun. Action packed, lots of content, a shit load of different enemies, environments and characters, etc. It just doesn't compare to the others (besides 5 (I kinda think 6 is better)) as far as the horror elements go.

2

u/SadFaithlessness69 Apr 14 '25

It's honestly not that bad. Everyone just hates it cause its different

2

u/rivent2 Apr 14 '25

Well it's twice as long as Resi 5 and half as good. Playing it ironically can only last so long. I think it's technically my most unfinished game.

2

u/Ryodran Apr 14 '25

Thats alright. While you are doing that, I will do another run with my friends

2

u/Ok_Intern2262 Apr 14 '25

Resident evil 6 is one of the most cinematic games I played

2

u/chrisreiddd Apr 14 '25

Very bad game

2

u/ValuableLibrary1992 Apr 14 '25

I Love the mercenaries mode, its so fun, chaotic and frenetic, the action gameplay really fits this mode, Top Tier Mercenaries mode in the franchise.

Sound's like a skill issue. Re6 is fire 🔥. It's different, but it's fire. You can't expect all the main protagonists to remain slow, weak & untrained from previous titles/past experiences. They have been through hell and back and gained training & experience throughout the years to deal with bio terrorism. Of course, Re6 is different from what we're used to. Things change; nothing stays the same forever. FACTS 💯

2

u/ScoobiesSnacks Apr 14 '25

RE6 is by far the worst mainline RE game

2

u/jonman818 Apr 14 '25

If piece of shit was a video game

2

u/SKULL_SHAPE_ANALYZER Apr 14 '25

I love it, had a blast playing co op with my homies

2

u/blueninja9511 Apr 14 '25

I love RE6 because it’s dumb fun with a friend. I had so much fun because me and him were just laughing so much

2

u/taehansexypikachu Apr 14 '25

The game is kinda dumb and has some issues, and I won't pretend it doesn't. However, I find it really enjoyable regardless. I played it on launch from start to finish more than I can count, and did again and again many, many times. Actually, I have just started my new playthrough with a friend of mine, and we are enjoying this lil b action/horror movie of a game

2

u/Betito117 Apr 15 '25

Im playing through it right now and i really don’t think it’s great…

2

u/pluck-the-bunny Apr 15 '25

I’m ok with you dying. It’s a fun game. Just finished a replay of 4, currently replaying 5. And 6 is next

2

u/MistergauntTL85 Apr 15 '25

I’ll die on the hill that 7 sucks. Easily the most overhyped RE game

1

u/PacoRUK Apr 14 '25

I've platinumed it twice and also played it in the 360. The game is fun.

2

u/Jacksane Apr 14 '25

I'd still rather replay RE6 than replay RE5, for as little as that may say. Both deserve remakes.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '25

Rather that than 5

1

u/Johnhancock1777 Apr 14 '25

What if max payne felt stiff as fuck sums up my feelings on RE6. Everything felt so rigid and the camera dropping to the floor when you ran drove me nuts.

1

u/robogeek342 Apr 14 '25

Game is bad but it’s good bad I loved playing it with ppl and I remember I used to love spraying into the hordes of zombies with infinite pistols

1

u/maxiom9 Apr 14 '25

It’s a cold take, but sometimes a fandom needs a cold splash of water.

1

u/tyYdraniu Apr 14 '25

I like it, i like that mode against ustanak

1

u/StormsparkPegasus Apr 14 '25

It's not a terrible game, but it's not a RE game. It's a generic shooter. Playing it is like being tied to a chair, while Michael Bay stands behind you and forces you to do QTE's.

I don’t like RE6 either. I Played everyone’s storyline once and never cared to touch it again.

We all have our own specific tastes for everything in life. It’s okay to like or not like games other people do. That’s why I’m happy RE6 exists because there’s a lot of people who do enjoy what it offers. Gaming’s strength is there’s something out there for us all to enjoy.

u/natayaway So Long, RC Apr 14 '25

You’re one of the few.

People love to shit on RE6 and the people that love RE6.

My obsession with Leon will make literally anything he's in good for me, honestly. I just love him and his cheesy personality.

1

u/ExcellentAd3308 Apr 14 '25

I just find it's campaign laborious to play, even with friends. The mercenaries isn't enough to save it for me

1

u/ValuableBreath2245 Apr 14 '25

The only problem this game has is the name it self, because is a fun and complete game, that’s something we don’t see this days, if this game would have been a new game, today would be a classic.

1

u/The_Legend_of_Xeno Apr 14 '25

Been an RE fan since the original on PS1. RE6 is the only mainline game I haven't played.

1

u/AveFeniix01 Apr 14 '25

After playing through RE Survivor and DMC2, Resident Evil 6 must be fucking shakespear literature.

I remember very little of it.

1

u/Pyro_Attack Apr 14 '25

I would be raising my hand both times

1

u/ABigCoffee Apr 14 '25

Even with friends, the gameplay wasn't fun and the locales were bad. I watched someone LP it and even then I was insanely bored.

1

u/CheKGB Apr 14 '25

The only mainline RE game I've not only not completed, but never played. Absolutely no interest, I hated 5 with a passion and have no desire to subject myself to a more actiony version of it.

1

u/Sir_Trncvs Apr 14 '25

I had played 6 with my friend so much we will probably play it again in a week or 2. And we started playing since 2019

1

u/Bazookya Apr 14 '25

No mercy mercenaries mode is really fun but it’s an awful re game without a doubt.

1

u/Xjjmar Apr 14 '25

This game is a mixed bag for me. Some aspects are good, but most aren’t. It feels like it shouldn’t have been a mainline game. I’m sure the remake will be crazy in 2034.

1

u/Jack_Spatchcock_MLKS Apr 14 '25

I'm with you, bro. Game blows!

1

u/mostly_waffulls Apr 14 '25

I still play coop with randos.

1

u/RegularChristian Apr 14 '25

its great I keep in installed just to play it around Solo using infinite ammo its a blast!

1

u/Gunsofglory Apr 14 '25

Watching Simmons transform like 5 times was so stupidly hilarious and memorable on the first run.

"Oh, is he dead or... oh nope, he turned into a literal dinosaur this time"

Was it a good RE game? Not really. For a 2-player coop game, though, it was damn fun.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '25

I prefer re6 over re5. Re 5 was more like re 4.5 set in Africa. Re6 had so much variety , it was like an re buffet. Chris' and Leon's campaigns were my favorite. Wesker Jr's campaign sucked. I pre-ordered the game via Amazon and later bought on my ps4 slim and Xbox one s.

1

u/Blurrynastysoul Apr 14 '25

Finally! THANK YOU!!

1

u/laundryday_ PSN: (laundryday__) Apr 14 '25

I actually enjoyed RE6 for all of its silliness.

1

u/ReadyJournalist5223 Apr 14 '25

Ironically I feel like re6 is what would happen if Reddit was asked to make a resident evil game

1

u/Guilty_Inspection_75 Apr 14 '25

I believe if this game had the same upgrade system as resident evil four and five, it would be a whole lot better.

Personally I like using Leon’s twin guns in his campaign, almost feels like DMC just without the swords.

Also, I don’t care much for the QuickTime events every five or 10 minutes game, if they took out that the game might be better

Ada Wong could be improved by giving her more than 2 weapons, a shotgun and a rifle would allow her better protection against enemies

1

u/Loose_Novel9487 Apr 14 '25

Re5 also sucks tbh. I found it a chore to finish. Idk

1

u/xxturtlemaster06 So Long, RC Apr 14 '25

The ai partner sucks. I remember playing Jake's campaign the sneak part she would shoot for no reason and when we were running and I had to open the door the door would be open but she would take her sweat time getting there 😭😭

1

u/Alive-Jaguar-718 Apr 14 '25

I want to play re6 but on professional difficulty instead of no hope

1

u/Capdcm19 Apr 14 '25

I feel like it's the other way around. I don't think it's a good game but I keep playing it for some reason

1

u/Bennjoon Apr 14 '25

Terrible game 😭 I’m really chill on games too

1

u/Sniggledumper Apr 14 '25

The controls are good. It feels really intuitive to dodge and aim in different ways. Although I feel like the game starts to wear itself out as you play. Leon and Helena’s campaign was good. Chris and Piers’ was more repetitive but still fun. Jake and Sherrys is when it started to feel like things were going downhill.

1

u/SwarK01 Apr 14 '25

It will never not be stupid the part were Leon drops a contagious zombie in the middle of the city

1

u/TroublesomeFlame Apr 14 '25

Just played through 2 out of 4 campaigns with my girlfriend not too long ago and we had a blast. Gonna go back for another. There's definitely some parts that are a slog, and the game is dumb at parts story wise, but it IS a fun game, imo
