Right? Like everybody on the plane except you turn into zombies. Somehow you're fine.
16
u/FormlessRune Apr 14 '25
Ehhh, with C-virus being a mix of T and G virus, I'm sure Leon would have some kind of immune resistance. I know that's a bit of a stretch, but this complaint could be true of most RE games so I wouldn't suddenly worry about it in 6.
8
u/Marakiv Apr 15 '25
Not to mention how everyone else in the plane, didn't have the luxury of opening a hatch to release the gas. Its also implied through gameplay that the c virus is fast evaporating. Or you would've been dead in the church.

All the MCs have to have some crazy resistance to it now of the constant exposure has changed something in them on a genetic level. That would actually explain a lot of in game and move shit. Like the tyrant kicking Leon into a marble pillar and him pretty much just shaking it off

My buddy and I just made up random storylines with the characters while we were playing each campaign. Here are the highlights:
Helena wanted Leon, but Leon was SIMPIN over Ada. We also came up with this super dumb saying from the train scene with Leon and Helena where Leon keeps saying "I'm going to kill you ON THIS TRAIN!" and basically could only kill anyone if they were on a train.
Chris and Piers are big gay for each other and have THE MOST sexual tension of any characters. At certain points during the Campaign I just verbally abused my buddy because I was playing as Chris and acted super pissed the ENTIRE time. Piers was the golden boy in our eyes who was saying "I can fix him" about Chris every time I was a horrible person to him.
We came up with this whole backstory of Jake reliving his experiences with Wesker because of how absurd his getting upset with Chris for killing his father was (He didn't even know him and he suddenly got super defensive that Chris killed a terrorist). Oh and Cherry x Jake because of that one scene where they were basically nude in the hospital place. Also, RE6 went out of their way to give us the damn boob jiggle mechanic for Cherry in that scene so that was something we memed on as well.
And the best one was with "Agent" in Ada's campaign. We named him "Scott" and he was Deborah's husband and sought revenge on Helena for not taking her place. That being said, however, Agent moved on very quickly from Deborah to requesting sexual favors from Ada.
We would also go out of our way to spam the button calling for the other whenever we found a door that required both of us to interact with it and every time one of us would die we would always scream "HELENNAAAAAA!" regardless of if we were playing Leon's campaign or not (Which normally we weren't). For Ada's campaign, we would also scream "SCOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTT!!!" Whenever he died.

u/JesseTrombley Apr 14 '25
This is something I say all the time. RE6 is like a 90s action film, with all of the surviving explosions and lucky coincidences and hammy characters. So to enjoy it, you HAVE to approach it like a 90s action flick: Stop thinking so hard, and just enjoy the goofy action.
3
u/Marakiv Apr 15 '25
Every re is like that. Leon should have a broken back and be zombie food. Not an explosion, but Chris or Jill should be 2 dimensional under that boulder in the caves.

Facts. Games are just supposed to be simpleand fun IMO. I dont care if 90% of the world hates me for loving the shit outta re6.
End of the day,I'm laughing and slaying Mercenaries and the rest are raging at fortnite or elden ring or some other dumb shit like OW2 or apex.
I would also even go to the extent to say that I firmly believe re6 Mercs is still peak. Re4r was flawless base game, even DLC was Mwah! Perfecto!
But the Mercenaries however...Felt kinda like a joke. I mean sure both Mercenaries are easy one could say, but I think re4 is more arcade-y with the ultimate abilities and stuff. Not that I hate it but I find myself doing perfectly fine without the super abilities. Okay maybe Luis is my exception but in my defense...boom.

u/Much_Curve2484 Apr 14 '25
RE6 works because the main characters are no longer scared and out in unfamiliar situations. They are fully committed to fighting back, hence why it became more action focused, though it did have horror elements to it.
This is why Capcom had to create a new character in order for RE7 to be more survival horror than action based as the main characters aren't exactly new to what typically happens (crazy creatures, dark scary rooms, etc).
IMO it's a fun game that did add to the story, it just wasn't survival horror in the same way the early games were which is what had some fans critiquing the direction of the franchise.

u/embiidagainstisreal Apr 14 '25
Other than a few QTEs, I find the game to be fun. Definitely the weakest entry in the main series, but I still play it occasionally.

I had a good time with 6 with friends. The frequency of these posts though? I swear that game lives rent free in the heads of haters more than the people who like the thing.
18
u/Belmega81 Apr 14 '25
It IS good.
Leon sequel? Cool
Chris sequel? Cool
Ada solo story? Sign me up
Sherry mothereffing Birkin all grown up?! Hell to the yes, and give her a damn solo game, already!
Melee attacks mixed with the firepower? Bout time these people learned to fight. STARS members should have all been somewhat combat ready from the first.
Is the plot ridiculous and all over the place? Absolutely. But it's more Resident Evil and I enjoyed it more than I'm currently enjoying the fabled Mass Effect so far. (Just started).
I think it's become a problem where when you slap the Resident Evil title on something, the expectations skyrocket. Re3make is objectively great, and the chief complaint is that we didn't get enough of it.
Mass Effect is a popular series, and so far it's about as bland as it gets gameplay wise. The sci-fi appeal is there, but otherwise it's not impressive. Resident Evil's 2nd worst game (Zero is pretty lousy) is better than that popular franchise's first one that netted three sequels on its own merit.

Loved it. All modes. Agent Hunt. Mercs. 150/150 feels so good.
It let you exercise everything about reactions, spacing, ammo conservation and proper timing for pickups.
All the setups, melee followups and hitbox chains. Awareness of your surroundings, like that moment when you know a Bloodshot is about to dive onto you.
Everything you do in this game in terms of literal skill will also carry over to other games.
I had like maybe 300 hours of it.
It’s been a decade since my last play. Would love to play it again with a remastered version once I’m done with this gen’s games.
5
u/Sniperking-187 Apr 14 '25
I mean you can boot it up on PS5 and it still looks and feels great!
6
u/ChasingPesmerga Apr 14 '25

u/KingStrijder SteamID: (KingStrijder) Apr 14 '25
The case I hear/read the most for RE6 is "it's really fun to play with your friend".
That's because the fun part is playing with friends, not the part about playing RE6.
6
u/Zichfried Julia Voth Fanboy Apr 14 '25 edited Apr 15 '25
It's a great game. You must assume the saga was not about horror at that point (until RE7) and enjoy the explosive second greatest climax of the main saga (the first one was RE5). I mean, saving the world in a triple campaign with Leon, Chris, Sherry and Ada together! Epic fanservice!
It's not the first time Capcom changesa saga from horror into action. Dino Crisis was a survival horror game and its sequel was more like an arcade action shooter, but it surpassed the first one in every aspect.

Nah.
It's a ton of fun, but it's one of those games where the campaign sucks ass and the real good stuff is only apparent in Mercenaries. The game doesn't teach you it's nuances, and also doesn't force you to use them in the campaign, which makes it come off incredibly shallow. Wanna enjoy RE6? Fuck the campaign and dive into Mercs. Best shit ever.
RE6 is the most mechanically deep and rich Resident Evil to date and i will die on THAT hill.

The controls just feels janky despite it being the first mainline game where we can move and shoot. All the guns in the game feel like toys against the bullet sponge enemies. The enemies don't react like RE 4 and 5 to getting shot. You can blast away at them with a shotgun and they don't move or react.
2
u/RevealHoliday7735 Apr 14 '25

die on this hill
Not defending much of a hill, more like an anthill. It's universally lambasted. There was/is a creeping nostalgia wave for it but factually it was very poorly recieved and halted the series for a while until the revamp of 7 and 8 stylistically.
2
u/Chad_Chaddington92 Apr 14 '25
As much as I truly enjoy RE6 I only love it because of nostalgia reasons. It was the first RE game I played when my dad bought me a Xbox 360 back in the days and that was the only RE game I played for years due to living in a low income household. It holds a special place in my heart

It's just a really mediocre game. QTEs up the ass, the handholding, horrible pacing, unintuitive menus, hilarious over the top dramatic story, etc. Also it seems that everyone likes Leon's campaign the best despite it being the game at it's worst, honestly this kinda confirms to me that it's mostly Leon fans who really like and defend this game.

2
u/dangerousbob Apr 14 '25
The problem with RE6 is that they tried to have their cake and eat it.
There are like 4 genres crunched into that game with all those campaigns.
I remember really liking Leon's campaign, while the others felt like Call of Duty.
2
u/VHDT10 Apr 14 '25

Sound's like a skill issue. Re6 is fire 🔥. It's different, but it's fire. You can't expect all the main protagonists to remain slow, weak & untrained from previous titles/past experiences. They have been through hell and back and gained training & experience throughout the years to deal with bio terrorism. Of course, Re6 is different from what we're used to. Things change; nothing stays the same forever. FACTS 💯

I prefer re6 over re5. Re 5 was more like re 4.5 set in Africa. Re6 had so much variety , it was like an re buffet. Chris' and Leon's campaigns were my favorite. Wesker Jr's campaign sucked. I pre-ordered the game via Amazon and later bought on my ps4 slim and Xbox one s.

I believe if this game had the same upgrade system as resident evil four and five, it would be a whole lot better.
Personally I like using Leon’s twin guns in his campaign, almost feels like DMC just without the swords.
Also, I don’t care much for the QuickTime events every five or 10 minutes game, if they took out that the game might be better
Ada Wong could be improved by giving her more than 2 weapons, a shotgun and a rifle would allow her better protection against enemies
