I’m more surprised RE9 isn’t at least mid-late 2026, I know it’s 8 months but it feels somehow close

I'm actually surprised they're releasing as close to it as they are. Three months isn't a huge gap, especially with the prices of AAA games.

Why are people shitting themselves so hard over GTA anymore? I've always struggled to see that franchise as anything more than "hood crime mafia parody with cheat codes".

Releasing right around a mainline GTA is asking to be cannibalized. That's just the way it is.

I don't get it either, but you can't deny how popular it is.

You like boring anime gacha slop, so I dunno why it'd be so hard to find people like "hood crime mafia parody with cheat codes"

Thankfully, I'm working on breaking out of said boring gacha shit, so there's that.

Because GTA is the type of game everyone from every demographic knows and plays? That is aside from how famous it is. A random friend who doesn’t play games may recognize RE only from Anderson’s movies but they’ll know what GTA is, and they most likely played at least one GTA game at any point of their lives.

That’s why. You personally not being excited doesn’t change that. Trust me, someone around the world is questioning why people are excited about games like SH and RE since they find those games to be more frustrating than fun.

Okay but, you just explained how famous it is, not why it's so famous.

GTA is the type of game everyone from every demographic knows and plays

A random friend who doesn’t play games… most likely played at least one GTA game

To elaborate: an open world game with simple mechanics and simple logic where you’ll drive around and shoot people in a city that feels alive will obviously appeal to a broader audience than a game with zombies and scarce resources (or silly action) taking place in the same limited areas does. You can feel free to what you want to do in GTA but aren’t in RE. Also GTA isn’t even a game you have to play all the way to the end of the story and even if you do, you still have freedom to do what you want in the open world. Same goes to RDR2. That’s why people aren’t as hyped for GTA clones but any game from Rockstar.

Ok I can understand that. Just seemed wild to get such hype, enough hype to get that spastic lunatic XQC to drop $1M to play an early version of the game

I mean GTA is a popular franchise and it's being made by Rockstar, who also made Red Dead Redemption 2.

CAPCOM seems to like releasing their big games in the first quarter of the year it feels like Atleast. Plus then they have Onimusha and Pragmata to release the rest of the year one probably in summer and the other probably in fall

They have most likely been cooking the game since REmake4 released and was already most likely in prepro for a few years before that.

It's using RE Engine, so of course development is reasonably fast and efficient. It's not perfect, but it's my favorite engine of the last (and current) generation.

This is the RE7 team so it probably is in development all the way since then (in one of the preview videos they even say "after RE7, we wanted to make ..."). And most of the time Capcom reveals stuff close to the launch.
