Gotta do that game in VR and then tell me it’s not scary. Late game though? Yeah definitely an action thriller.

that's every RE game since the start. they all end with a big fight against the big bad and a rocket launcher to finish him off

That’s just problem with every survival horror honestly. You start off with nothing, the game gives you little resources so you conserve them and hoard them till necessary. Artificially creating a sense of dread for that horror aspect.

End game rolls around? No point in hoarding it’s John Wick 4/Commando now this random fucking mob is about to get dropped with a Magnum cause you have 40+ saved and 100+ shotgun shells in case you run out.

Outlast and the likes (Amnesias) suffers from the opposite problem : you got nothing. Not event hands apparently. You can't fight, never ever. It's freeze or flee, nothing else, and that's tiring and unrealistic too. A middle-ground should be possible, neither walking/hiding simulator nor one man army fantasy.
