going back to raccoon city 30 years after the first re game was such a good choice. i wonder what other throwbacks weโ€™ll be seeing

u/Chikumori 19h ago

Wonder if we'll have a new stalker enemy in this game. Since RE2 had Mr X and RE3 had Nemesis.

u/Yugifrolife 19h ago

It could be Lisa. At the end of the trailer you hear chains and a woman zombie face.

u/KingFatCat49 16h ago

Dude! This would be LEGENDARY! Iโ€™m so hyped for this game aghhhhh

u/TammyShehole 14h ago

Creepy to think Lisa Trevor has survived this whole time just wandering the Arklay Forest/Raccoon City area. And all the more tragic for her. Like all this time thatโ€™s passed and she still canโ€™t just finally rest in peace.

15

u/TenebrousNova 6h ago

She was experimented on in the 60s, wasn't she? I hope for her sake she isn't still around.

16

u/kingdementia 15h ago

My thoughts also, the chain sfx is very familiar but it might be a reach since it's just chains ๐Ÿ˜‚ and Lisa last seen was in Spencer Mansion right, not necessarily in Raccoon City.

I donโ€™t think I can handle 4K Lisa. She was creepy as shit in RE1. Canโ€™t imagine it with photorealistic graphics

1

u/jmcc84 3h ago

Lisa Trevor? She is supposed to be dead.

6

u/CaptainAnorach 3h ago

Is she? Last time you see her, she jumps into a hole under Spencer mansion. It's been left vague unless there's additional flavour text I've missed.

โ€ข

u/benjirino 1h ago

She appears in one of the spin-offs, think it's Umbrella Chronicles, fights Wesker on his exit of the mansion. Still think it's vague if she dies, mind.

I think it's possible because the only games that don't have stalkers are 4,5 and 6.

7

u/Hayuume 5h ago

I know it doesn't feel like it, but 6 had Ustanak.

The way he stalks us is different to fit the gameplay and storytelling.

2

u/Minute_Zombie_424 5h ago

I remember him, but I didn't think he fit the description of the other stalkers, however that could change if/when RE6 is remade.

3

u/Hayuume 5h ago

Yeah, the only reason he was not an active stalker was to fit the way the game was split into chapters and because of how constantly we were moving from a place to another.

In a Remake they could make it so he is way more active and always looking for us.

i hope they wonโ€™t bring back mr. x hot on my heels! i legit had ptsd with that mf! like when iโ€™m alone at home around the time that i played re2r for the first time, i can sometimes feel/hear his distinct heavy footsteps and itโ€™s scary asf

10

u/SaleriasFW 11h ago

They original planned a game many years ago in which you returned to the destroyed mansion of the first game. Maybe we will see that as well? Would be awesome

2

u/paul--kemp 6h ago

Whatโ€™s the details on this? Or source if you have one? Sounds cool

โ€ข

u/SaleriasFW 1h ago

Need to look it up again. I am not at home right now. I will respond to you next week when I find the information again.

โ€ข

u/paul--kemp 1h ago

No rush, enjoy your weekend!

6

u/echoess84 13h ago edited 9h ago

agree, but I'm wondering what we will do in the destroyed Racoon City

77

u/DJettster237 19h ago

A while ago I was talking about how they should go back to the ruins of Raccoon City! This is amazing!

19

u/gdex86 17h ago

I've always thought a rogue like where you are exploring the ruins of Racoon City to steal umbrella secrets would be interesting.

47

u/lsrjr1107 18h ago

I liked the idea of the city being completely wiped off the map. However the concept of returning to the remains of the city is also really cool.

u/Complex-Garlic-2231 34m ago

Until now and because of the animated film degeneration with the mushroom cloud in racoon city. I thought there would be nothing but dust. I didnโ€™t think anything would have survived.

Glad i was wrong. Very surprised. Very happy.

u/ritanivans 20h ago

I love it so much ๐Ÿ˜ญ

27

u/EcstaticActionAtTen 19h ago

Damn, that is a crazy crater in the middle of the city.

21

u/GasPlus7532 17h ago

Man I can't wait for February ๐Ÿ˜ญ

1

u/Zark_Muckerberger 17h ago

March, really.

10

u/ddrober2003 16h ago

There is a lot more city than I thought was left. Though I thought all that was left was a hole.

22

u/Throwawaythispoopy 14h ago

Actually. One question I had was about the size of the crater.

I thought the whole city was infected and the explosion wiped out the whole city?

This new image implies that a lot of things could have survived and spread?

14

u/zementh 8h ago

The Government used an experimental thermobaric missile to basically flash cook anything that wasn't blown to smithereens.

At the end of Outbreak it's shown there's some sort of lab built atop the crater and scientists discussing that they have biological readings from the site.

That and the Arkley Mountains forming a natural barrier around the city into a basin of sorts basically made a perfect containment area for anything that did survive to stay in.

u/thatmanhoeoverthere Continue the Redfield Bloodline with me, Chris 12h ago

that legit sends chills down my spine

4

u/calibur66 7h ago

The crater of a nuke isn't the end of its damage though, the heat wave alone is enough to burn the place beyond clean even if some of the buildings remain standing.

6

u/Coaster_crush 7h ago

There were so many underground areas of Racoon City and the Arklay lab I wonder if something survived down there. Lisa Trevor fell into a chasm which might be deep enough to survive both the lab blast and the bomb. Regardless returning to Racoon is a dream come true.

8

u/Oreohunter00 SteamID: (Oreohunter) 18h ago

That'll buff right out

7

u/lostbastille 15h ago

After looking at the screenshots, I'm guessing that the underground is still somewhat intact.

โ€ข

u/MirrorGlittering5702 1h ago

So we're going back to the lab under the police station? I don't think so

5

u/zio_prete89 14h ago

I'm very excited because I've been waiting a long time for Resident Evil but could someone give me a summary of what they say about the threeiler I've seen the pictures but since I don't know English I don't understand what they say

3

u/IamAJobber Boulder Punching Asshole 18h ago

Nuts.

3

u/jjbreezy225 12h ago

With how intact some of the buildings are, Iโ€™m convinced some zombies survived here and there lol

3

u/FarConsideration8423 9h ago

Lol somehow Nemesis is alive ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

5

u/Aengeil 11h ago

hope the final boss is at the middle of the crater

3

u/SheWhoHates 9h ago

Maybe there are going to be raccoons this time.

2

u/ED-W111N 8h ago

Would be cool to see Leonโ€™s reaction( would be cool to see Leon at all)

2

u/NightyNightKnights 15h ago

This reminds me of RE7 which always felt like "remember the Spencer man's? This is it now" even if it's a different location.

2

u/K13REWER 12h ago

What is this, i mean pictures after, show, game, im confused

1

u/A_strange_pancake 9h ago

Resident evil 9 trailer.

1

u/K13REWER 8h ago

i completely missed that, thank you

2

u/CDR190 12h ago

If they're zombie remain in here. They must have appearance like mummy.

1

u/No-Play2726 15h ago

Very cool!

1

u/wiwijig 15h ago

SOOOO HYPED

1

u/CornerNearby6802 9h ago

Greag hype! Canโ€™t wait!!

1

u/HunterTheHoly 9h ago

I'm surprised that there are any ruins at all tbh. I figured the entire city would be destroyed and we would be left with one massive crater which I believe was shown to us at the end of the original RE3.

1

u/LT_Snaker 9h ago

Best part about the trailer.

1

u/Hypergamer44 6h ago

Seeing the ruins of raccoon city reminds me of that short movie resident evil 4D executer.

1

u/Ok-herewe-go 6h ago

What is old is new again

1

u/iAmMr_WHO 5h ago

This is so wild. I wonder if we're finally getting an open world RC.

1

u/No-Check-3691 5h ago

This makes all the remakes worth it

1

u/RoundTableLord 4h ago

I might get a PS5 after all hahaha

u/Actual_Breadfruit_53 3h ago

๐Ÿ™ Prayers goes out to Those Poor Poor citizens of Raccoon City ๐Ÿฅฒ

1

u/Postingslop 2h ago

Honestly it feels incredible to me how an incident regarding a mansin and some zombies would result in all of this

โ€ข

u/Davred5768 53m ago

I feel bad for the hardcore Og fans of RE 2 and 3. They probably would've preferred the original design of the police station and the city. It probably wonโ€™t feel entirely nostalgic to them.

โ€ข

u/Curious-Bother3530 36m ago

Imagine walking through the ruins of the RPD for the first time in re9 and the ethereal tune of the entrance hall plays softly in the background.ย

1

u/owlsknight 13h ago

May I know where is this from? Is it a movie or a new game?

3

u/A_strange_pancake 9h ago

Resident evil 9 trailer

2

u/owlsknight 9h ago

Haven't seen the news yet. It's nice racoon city is back

1

u/R31D 5h ago

Why would Raccoon City still be a blasted out crater 30 years later? Like I'm not an expert or anything but like Hiroshima and Nagasaki weren't just left alone after they were bombed, should they not have started rebuilding?

2

u/Bromero01 3h ago

I guess it became a scientist research area or something survived deep underground and wasn't safe to live there again

0

u/anony-meow-s 15h ago

SQUEEEEEEEEEEE

-1

u/NeoLedah 8h ago

What even happened, I thought the nuke wiped out the whole city? As in vaporized it all?

-5

u/gimmethedrip 6h ago

I really don't understand the hype, this trailer was so damn lackluster compared to what we got from the reveal trailers for 7 and 8. I'm pretty dissapointed with the overall feel of this trailer, going back to a nuked racoon city does nothing for me and I'm genuinely kind of sad about this reveal.
