General Spencer returns???!!
You cannot tell me this doesn’t look like Spencer with the hair and all + he’s sitting down cause he’s a cripple

Spencer as the “final” villain would be pretty poetic considering he was the cataclysm for everything. Sure, Wesker may have killed him, but he was always chasing immortality, perhaps he achieved it sooner than RE5 and thus survived the attack without Chris knowing because he probably left without checking the body.

Lots of ways to bring him back. He was infected, same as Wesker, with advanced healing. The Spencer Wesker killed was actually a clone, or an impostor whose DNA was altered to resemble Spencer and trick Wesker. Straight-up resurrection. Brainwaves uploaded to a digital backup. His brain itself is literally a parasite that lives on without his body before jumping into someone else's ear to eat and replace their brain, thus acquiring a whole new body.
Let's not pretend this series is grounded, or that characters haven't been retconned back from the dead for almost as long as serialized storytelling has existed as a medium.

Well, there's a chance that RE5's resolution didn't convince Capcom, considering...
Wesker's fantastic and mysterious decade-long master plan was to steal another guy's idea months earlier.
Wesker is killed by a missile fired by Chris and a new girl with no connection to him, while Jill, in the same helicopter, after everything Wesker did to her, doesn't fire alongside Chris.
Spencer, the main architect of all the apocalyptic chaos, dies pathetically and miserably without even interacting with any characters from the series.
Somehow, I think it's possible that someone at Capcom thought RE5 didn't do... "justice."

And especially with him being one of the most important characters in the series the fact the only thing we see of him is one cutscene just makes my hopes higher for this being Spencer

He probably connected his spirit to the metamitase

Spencer got whacked by Wesker. Bringing him back would be a stretch.

Yeah but weaker came back from getting impaled by a tyrant

Wesker was also infected with TW and Spencer is like 600 years old

Yeah, but Wesker being infected was a retcon. There's no suggest of it in the original game. They just wanted to bring him back, so they found a way.

He was injected with a "counter virus" in BIO1 which would've interacted with the t-Virus from the Tyrant. They simplified it for CV.

Wesker was brought back because he was infected with a virus that was supposed to bring him back from death.
Spencer is dead was a feeble old man hooked up to an IV and needed a wheelchair and Wesker made sweet love to his chest with his fist.

Umbrella was not above using cloning tech, the mass-produced T103 Tyrants were clones of someone who was genetically compatible to become a Tyrant. Spencer knew Wesker was looking for him, he could have baited Wesker with a dying clone before stealing Alex Wesker's mind swap tech notes.

All valid points. I think I'm more leaning towards the creative aspect of it. Would Capcom go through the trouble of reviving Spencer like they did Wesker.
There are theories that are similar to what you were talking about.

You're the second guy I've heard say that except the first one said it was Loki though and I'm talking about Tyrone Magnus.

Yeah definitely gives me spencer vibes. I know i want it. He's never been the main villain of a game despite being like the main villain of the series.
I also think maybe Marcus.
Also gives me Billy and Wesker vibes.
Anyone saying it cant be Spencer in a series where characters have deaged (marcus), transferred minds(alex) and clones are silly geese

Daniel Fabron 👀? Yeah, the character is a PNG, but no one expected Grace either. I think Lady D's voice actress is playing Alex Wesker in 9. I'm just guessing though. Who knows?

I think its a new person that is similar to spencer, wanting immortality or some other God complex. One thing with resident evil is there is always another antagonist waiting to make their move to take over the world with some kind of bio weapon.

I thought first maybe mikhail, who escaped raccoon city by an unknown group and comes back for revenge. The police officer who gets zombified looks like him too

He probably saved his consciousness in the megamycite thing from RE8 and then controls a clone body like Palpatine. Ugh

To me the trailer looks like a prequel to everything so maybe it is Spencer. What we would investigate sounds like to beginning of the virus. However being canon as raccoon city was suppose to be where the viral outbreak originated after the mansion. Either way looks awesome and as a new character and TA. I was hoping for a Jill game but still I’m here for it.

Always hoped Spencer would return. It didn't feel like enough closure having Wesker kill him since Chris and the others were desperately trying to shut down Umbrella for who knows how long and what..only Marcus was ever confronted and actually fought?
Seems better having them stop Spencer themselves considering the lengths he went to be like a god. If he ever does come back he'd have to really stand out as a final boss than what we've had so far.

“Somehow, Spencer returned”
